Ling Tian Sword God

Chapter 116: Chapter 115: The Trial Begins_1

The following day, dozens of disciples, known for their formidable strength, gathered at the Divine Intent Sect’s Martial Arts Plaza. All of them were True Disciples of the Divine Intent Sect, each one impressively talented and radiant with their own unique light.

Upon Ling Chen’s arrival at the Martial Arts Plaza, his eyes lit up at the sight. This was his first time seeing the True Disciples of the Sect gathered together in such an orderly formation.

Among these True Disciples, several stood out, their unique auras making them as conspicuous as cranes in a flock of chickens.

The most eye-catching of all was a young man in a white robe, exuding a formidable aura—he was Wu Xiang Young Master, Nie Wu Xiang. Compared to when he had fought against Sky Heart Swordsman Feng Piaoling, Nie Wu Xiang’s cultivation had evidently undergone a significant improvement.

Ling Chen’s eyes shifted slightly. Not far to Nie Wu Xiang’s right stood a man dressed in black. This man had a hawk-like nose, thin lips, and extremely sharp eyes. A long sword hung at his waist, and he exuded an intimidating aura. Arrogance filled his eyes; no one seemed worthy of his attention. Only when he looked at Nie Wu Xiang did his gaze reveal a hint of seriousness. Ling Chen recognized this man. He was Ye Nantian’s chief disciple, Yun Tianhe’s direct senior brother, and the Unparalleled Swordsman Longyang.

These two were the strongest among all the True Disciples.

His gaze left the two men and fell upon a beautiful woman in her early twenties, dressed in a blue skirt-robe. Ling Chen wasn’t too familiar with this woman, but there was a familiar figure beside her, whispering into her ear with clearly malicious intent. Without a doubt, this man was Yun Tianhe, and the lady in the blue robe was his second senior sister, Yu Qingxuan.

When Yun Tianhe’s gaze met Ling Chen’s, he revealed a bone-chilling grin. He lifted his palm to his neck and made a slitting gesture, his threat perfectly clear. It was as if he were saying, ”You’re dead meat.”

Such a hassle. It’s a pity my damned father didn’t decide to take more disciples.

Feeling bluntly threatened by Yun Tianhe, Ling Chen was somewhat unhappy. Yun Tianhe himself was one thing, but his senior brother and sister possessed undeniable strength.

However, speaking of taking disciples, if Ling Tianyu hadn’t refused to take any, Ling Chen would, at the very least, have some powerful backers by now. Regrettably, Ling Tianyu didn’t have a single disciple. Even when Nie Wu Xiang had wanted to become his disciple, he was rejected on the grounds that he did not meet Ling Tianyu’s standards.

When Ling Tianyu had made that statement, Ling Chen had been filled with admiration. To think that even a top genius like Nie Wu Xiang hadn’t met his father’s recruitment standards! What harsh conditions had to be met to be considered qualified? That statement had been so incredibly domineering.

But now, Ling Chen felt the urge to curse his father. If Ling Tianyu hadn’t set the bar so high and had accepted Nie Wu Xiang, Nie Wu Xiang would be his senior brother now. He wouldn’t need to fear the likes of Longyang and Yu Qingxuan.

However, there are no second chances in life. Despite his complaints, Ling Chen understood that constantly relying on others wouldn’t get him very far. Only through his own strength could he carve out his own path.

”Sister Yu, this True Disciple trial is an excellent opportunity to get rid of that brat Ling Chen. We absolutely cannot let it slip,” Yun Tianhe said ominously, his gaze having shifted from Ling Chen.

”During this trial at Black Wind Ridge, all True Disciples will be divided into two groups based on their cultivation and sent to different areas. Therefore, I won’t be in the same group as you, so I won’t have the opportunity to act against Ling Chen.” A flash of disdain crossed Yu Qingxuan’s beautiful eyes. In her view, if Yun Tianhe truly wanted vengeance, he should train harder and defeat Ling Chen with his own strength, rather than seeking help from powerful allies.

However, this time, their senior brother Longyang had specifically asked her to deal with Ling Chen, which was also their Master’s intention. As such, she had no choice but to assume this responsibility.

”What? We’re not in the same group? Then what do we do?” The joy instantly vanished from Yun Tianhe’s face, replaced by a dark expression.

Yu Qingxuan glanced towards a young man in a purple robe in the distance and said, ”I may not have the opportunity to act, but that doesn’t mean others won’t. I’ve already told Zhan Yu to act on my behalf. You can discuss your plans with him. Given Zhan Yu’s cultivation at the peak of a Sixth-Stage Martial Artist, approaching that of a Seventh Realm Martial Master, there shouldn’t be any issues.”

”So, Sister Yu, you’d already planned everything! I truly admire you.” Yun Tianhe’s expression instantly brightened. He knew that Zhan Yu was Yu Qingxuan’s suitor and would do anything for her. With Zhan Yu taking action, there would indeed be no hitches.

Ling Chen, let’s see how you die this time. Yun Tianhe felt as if he could finally see the light of day after a long period of darkness. After waiting for so long, his chance to kill Ling Chen and avenge his humiliation was finally arriving.

At this moment, Ling Chen had reached the front of the group and greeted the three elders, ”Great Elder, Elder Bai Kui, Elder Shen.”

Elder Bai Kui smiled. ”Ling Chen, how did your training go this month?”

At these words, the Great Elder also smiled. They had already heard about Ling Chen’s rapid progress. Despite losing his cultivation during the Sect’s great calamity, he had managed to rise from the ashes in less than half a year and return to the peak. Furthermore, Ling Chen showed extraordinary comprehension in Sword Way and Mental Power. He was at the tenth stage of Mental Power and had even mastered the Sword Intent Embryo—a truly prodigious talent. Ling Chen was back in the ranks of the Divine Intent Sect’s core disciples. Although his foundation was still not as solid as that of the older True Disciples, his talents alone made him their equal.

Ling Chen replied, ”I recently made a breakthrough in my cultivation. I devoted most of my energy to practicing the Wind Shadow Step and have now achieved initial mastery of this Light Skill.”

”Hmm, increasing your cultivation should be done step by step; never rush. Martial arts are indeed the focus... What? You’ve already achieved initial mastery of the Wind Shadow Step?” The Great Elder initially nodded approvingly, but his expression quickly turned to stunned disbelief as he stared at Ling Chen.

”Well, it took me about a month to reach this stage,” Ling Chen nodded. There was no need to hide such things. In fact, he needed to disclose everything. Only by doing so would he gain the Sect’s attention, which would ensure his safety. Otherwise, he might be assassinated in some corner without anyone ever knowing.

The Great Elder and Elder Bai Kui were both veterans of the Divine Intent Sect and not aligned with Ye Nantian’s faction, which was why Ling Chen shared this information with them.

”Achieved initial mastery of the Wind Shadow Step in a month?”

Even veteran True Disciples like Nie Wu Xiang and Longyang were stunned. Achieving initial mastery of the Wind Shadow Step in only a month? What monstrous martial arts talent! The Wind Shadow Step was a lower-grade Heaven Level Light Skill. Even they couldn’t have matched Ling Chen’s learning speed; it would likely have taken them two or three times as long.
