Chapter 120: Chapter 119 Heavenly Heart Grass_1

At that moment, two unexpected visitors set foot on Lake Heart Island.

The man was Deng Lun and the woman was Lu Jie; both were True Disciples of the Divine Intent Sect.

”It seems we’re in luck. This is the infamous place where the Top Sky Apex Strong, the Demon Elder, went missing. After thirty years, this must be where the Demon Elder fell. There might be Heavenly Heart Grass here.”

Deng Lun held a map, his face filled with delight.

Lu Jie, standing beside him, was a renowned beauty in the Divine Intent Sect. Although not the foremost beauty, she had numerous suitors.

”What are we waiting for? If we can get more than five Heavenly Heart Grass, I’m confident I can advance to the top twenty, or even the top ten, among the True Disciples.”

A glimmer flashed in Lu Jie’s eyes.

”Younger Sister Lu, don’t worry. I’ll definitely help you break into the top ten True Disciples,” Deng Lun confidently assured her.

However, Lu Jie appeared rather indifferent upon hearing this. She walked forward a few steps. Her gaze suddenly landed on a raft moored not far away, and her pretty face quickly turned cold.

”Damn, someone beat us here.”

Deng Lun also spotted the raft on the shore, and his expression immediately darkened.

”This island isn’t that big. He couldn’t have gone far. Let’s move quickly! We absolutely can’t let the Heavenly Heart Grass fall into someone else’s hands!” Lu Jie immediately deployed her Light Skill and sped towards the interior of Lake Heart Island.

At this moment, Ling Chen had arrived before the third Heavenly Heart Grass. He carefully harvested it before placing it in his jade box.

Three Heavenly Heart Grasses... enough for me to break through to the Warrior Master Fourth Realm.

A hint of joy touched Ling Chen’s lips. If all three Heavenly Heart Grasses were refined, not only would his True Qi cultivation greatly increase, but his physical strength would also improve significantly.

This was the true value of the Heavenly Heart Grass—a complete, all-around upgrade.

Ling Chen raised his head and glanced at the small hillock before him. Although it looked common and unremarkable, it gave off an eerie and dangerous feeling.

Just then, a sharp female voice sounded in Ling Chen’s ear, ”Hand over the Heavenly Heart Grass, boy! Considering we’re all from the same sect, we can spare your life.”

Ling Chen abruptly turned. He saw that a man and a woman had discovered him. The speaker was the beautiful woman, her gaze fixated on the jade box in Ling Chen’s hands, a hint of greed flashing in her eyes.

”It’s you, Ling Chen, who came first in the exam?” Deng Lun recognized Ling Chen. He had seen Ling Chen at the True Disciple examination and had a rough estimate of his strength. Having defeated Xiahou Lin, Ling Chen wouldn’t be at the bottom of the True Disciple rankings. However, Deng Lun believed there was still a significant gap between Ling Chen and himself.

”Hand over the Heavenly Heart Grass. You’re no match for the two of us.”

”And you two? If you had obtained the Heavenly Heart Grass, would you willingly hand it over to someone else?”

Ling Chen obviously had no intention of handing it over.

”Why waste so much breath on him? So what if he was first in the exam? We’re in Black Wind Ridge now. If we kill him, the Elders won’t know,” Lu Jie said, staring at the jade box in Ling Chen’s hand, a fierce killing intent flashing in her eyes.

”Alright then. Since you’re being obstinate, don’t blame us for being ruthless.”

Deng Lun hadn’t originally wanted to kill Ling Chen, considering he was a genius of the Divine Intent Sect. However, since Lu Jie insisted and Ling Chen refused to hand over the Heavenly Heart Grass, they felt they had no other choice.

WHOOSH!

The moment Deng Lun finished speaking, a cold glint appeared in Lu Jie’s eyes. She suddenly attacked, launching a black Hidden Weapon from her sleeve. The Hidden Weapon shrieked as it cut through the air, leaving a trail of smoke. With a long smoky tail, it sped towards Ling Chen.

Ling Chen frowned and immediately executed Wind Shadow Step, sidestepping several paces to the right to avoid the Hidden Weapon.

The Hidden Weapon struck a large tree behind Ling Chen, blasting a large crater into it. A burst of Flames erupted, instantly igniting the tree, which crackled as it burned.

Ling Chen’s pupils constricted slightly. If that Hidden Weapon had hit him, he would have been crippled, if not killed.

This was a unique and extremely potent Hidden Weapon: the Thunder Fire Bomb.

Not giving Ling Chen a moment to breathe, Deng Lun charged as Lu Jie launched her Hidden Weapon. Moving ten meters with each step, Deng Lun swiftly closed in on Ling Chen.

In just three breaths, he was in front of Ling Chen, thrusting his icy spearhead towards Ling Chen’s heart.

Ling Chen planted his feet firmly, steadying his body. He grasped his sword with both hands, executing ”Hidden Dragon in the Abyss.”

The Heavenly Emperor Heavy Sword slashed diagonally against Deng Lun’s spearhead, deflecting the attack.

”Phantom Swordsmanship—Gut Hunter!”

Lu Jie attacked immediately after Deng Lun. Pushing off the ground, her slender leg bent slightly as her body sprang into the air. She performed a mid-air spin and thrust out three streaks of sword light, all aimed at Ling Chen’s abdomen.

SWISH!

Ling Chen executed his footwork, his body like a phantom as he retreated. He felt a chill in his abdomen; the sword light had slashed through his clothes. Fortunately, Ling Chen reacted quickly and was nimble; otherwise, that sword thrust would have disemboweled him.

”He actually dodged it!”

A trace of surprise flickered in Lu Jie’s eyes. She hadn’t expected Ling Chen to dodge her lethal thrust while also dealing with Deng Lun.

In the blink of an eye, the three had exchanged more than a dozen moves.

With Ling Chen continuously retreating, he was soon to be forced into a corner.

His mind racing, Ling Chen contemplated his strategy. With my current Cultivation, dealing with Lu Jie alone would already be quite a strain. If I have to face both of them simultaneously, I will undoubtedly be defeated.

Ling Chen didn’t believe he had the prowess to fight two opponents at once. Even if he used the Ancient Saint King Battle Technique, he was no match for two Sixth-Stage Martial Artists.

”White Dragon Breath!”

Ling Chen unleashed a five-meter-long, dragon-shaped sword qi, forcing Lu Jie to retreat. He then leaped, stepping on Deng Lun’s spearhead to launch himself towards the hillock.

”The green mountains will remain, and the clear waters will flow on. I’ll remember what happened today!”

Ling Chen performed Wind Shadow Step, taking nine successive steps. Within moments, he had fled three to four hundred meters away, disappearing into the miasma.

”Damn it, he actually got away!”

Lu Jie was furious. She had never expected Ling Chen to have such a trick up his sleeve. Caught off guard, they hadn’t even had a chance to pursue before losing his trail.

A mere Third Level Martial Artist, someone she could kill casually, had escaped right under their noses—and there were two of them! How could she not be enraged?

Furious, she prepared to chase him down.

”Wait, Younger Sister Lu! A strange aura emanates from all over that hillock. It’s risky to barge in; we might encounter unpredictable dangers.”

At this, Deng Lun intercepted Lu Jie, who was on the verge of exploding with rage.

”Oh, are you scared?” Lu Jie scoffed, a hint of mockery in her cold eyes. ”Did Ling Chen look scared when he went in? If you’re frightened, you can stay here!”

With that, Lu Jie, Long Sword in hand, ventured into the hillock’s domain.

”Sigh!”

Deng Lun’s expression flickered uncertainly. After staring at the area around the hillock and hesitating for a moment, he still followed her in.
