Ling Tian Sword God

Chapter 117: Chapter 116 Cleaving Air Palm_1

The Great Elder wasn’t quite convinced. ”The Wind Shadow Step: each of the nine tiers introduces an additional alteration, like a gust of wind casting no shadow, or a shadow independent of the wind—changes that are completely unpredictable...”

He halted his words because Ling Chen had already dashed out, flickering constantly on the plaza. He moved like a gust of wind, passing through the plaza with amazing speed.

All nine variations were displayed at Ling Chen’s feet.

”Indeed, it’s the Wind Shadow Step. He used the steps at will, demonstrating all nine variations. Not a single one was missing.” The Great Elder sucked in a cold breath. He realized that he had underestimated Ling Chen, but it was hardly his fault. Ling Chen’s performance was beyond anyone’s expectations.

”Good, very good.”

Bai Kui nodded again and again. This youngster always managed to surprise people.

This guy, we must eliminate him as soon as possible.

Yun Tianhe clenched his fist. Ling Chen was getting further and further ahead, forcing Yun Tianhe to look up to him. It was not a pleasant feeling.

At that moment, the Great Elder looked up at the sky, then waved his hand. ”It’s about time. Let’s set off!”

Elder Bai Kui and Elder Shen nodded, signaling to a Deacon Disciple not far away. A moment later, that disciple led out a group of horses covered in long hair that resembled snow lions.

Ling Chen’s eyes gleamed. They are the famed Divine Steeds—the Jade Lions!

These horses, with white hair similar to snow lions, were a type of exotic beast. They could travel eight hundred miles a day and could go for a long time without eating or drinking—perfect for long journeys.

Jade Lions were extremely rare within the Five Kingdoms, yet dozens appeared all at once.

It looks like each True Disciple and Elder will be allotted one. What a generous display!

However, these Jade Lions were carefully concealed by the Deacon Disciples. From the outside, one couldn’t easily discern they were Jade Lions. Only those with sharp eyes who had seen Jade Lions before would recognize them.

Taking a Jade Lion from a Deacon Disciple, Ling Chen leaped onto the horse. The other True Disciples similarly mounted their horses, resulting in an impressive scene.

”Let’s go!”

With the Great Elder’s order, everyone spurred their horses forward, rushing down the mountain.

Along the way, dust swirled, and the setting sun cast its glow upon the ground.

Since they did not want to attract the attention of the Demonic Sect, they chose to leave as evening approached. After all, with such a grand procession, it would be difficult not to draw attention if they set out during the day.

Black Wind Ridge was known as a dangerous place among the Five Kingdoms. Located in the shadow of the Great River, it was a gathering place for sinister energies. The exotic beasts here were powerful. Not only that, but roaming warriors and bandits claiming the mountain as their own also caused trouble in the territory.

Ling Chen and the group of over fifty people, riding their Jade Lions, covered eight hundred miles a day.

「After three days, they reached the outskirts of Black Wind Ridge.」

”The topography ahead is dangerous, a frequent haunt of bandits. Everyone should be careful,” Elder Bai Kui said to the crowd, stopping for a moment.

”Bandits? If bandits dare to come, it will just give us a chance to eliminate them for the common people,” a True Disciple said with a smile.

”If bandits really show up, Nie Wu Xiang, how about we have a little competition to see who kills more bandits, eh?” Longyang suddenly turned to Nie Wu Xiang, his face showing clear battle intent.

With an expressionless face, Nie Wu Xiang nodded. ”No problem.”

”Great! That’s very straightforward!” Longyang’s eyes suddenly brightened. He then spurred his horse to speed up, rushing into the dangerous valley like a bolt of lightning.

Nie Wu Xiang immediately followed.

”Those two, there’s just no handling them. Let’s follow!” The Great Elder shook his head. Although the two acted recklessly, he didn’t believe that these bandits could pose a threat to them.

”Ling Chen, shall we have a competition too?” Xiahou Lin and Li Liuxing looked eager.

Ling Chen shook his head. ”Forget it. You two compete.” It was better to save some energy before entering Black Wind Ridge for the trials.

「At this time, a group of more than a hundred bandits was gathered on a nearby mountain.」

”Boss, these guys are riding really good horses! We’re about to make a fortune,” a rather sleazy-looking middle-aged man grinned.

The bandit leader, a one-eyed man with an eyepatch over his left eye, looked somewhat hesitant. ”I’m afraid this bunch might be trouble.”

”What is there to fear? Opportunities are fleeting, Boss! Perhaps after robbing these folks, we’ll be worry-free for the rest of our lives,” the middle-aged man urged, still hell-bent on thievery.

”Alright, brothers, attack!” The bandit leader, a man who had tasted blood, gave the order. Besides, the Divine Intent Sect members were all in ordinary clothes, bearing no resemblance to Sect Disciples.

Looking at the shadowy figures from a distance, Ling Chen shook his head. These bandits are in for some big trouble. They dare to rob anyone and everyone. A bloody massacre is about to happen.

Seeing the bandits rushing down from the mountain, Longyang was not shocked but thrilled. ”Well fought!” He suddenly pulled out the Crimson Sword from his waist and, with his left hand, tore off the disguise of the Jade Lion he was riding.

”It’s a Jade Lion!”

The few bandits at the forefront had their eyes wide with desire. The Jade Lion, a renowned treasure! They hadn’t expected to see it in person. A single Jade Lion could sell for at least five thousand taels of gold.

”Kill them!”

Emotions ran high, and in the blink of an eye, several bandits had charged up to Longyang.

CLANG!

Longyang’s Treasure Sword sang out, and a razor-sharp azure blade light emerged from its tip—Lower-grade Heaven-Level swordsmanship: Green Edge Sword Technique!

SQUIRT! SQUIRT! SQUIRT!

With a flash of green light, a large spray of blood mist exploded from the bandits’ bodies, killing them instantly with a single stroke.

Compared to Song Hailan’s mediocre use of the Green Edge Sword Technique, Longyang’s execution of the Green Edge Sword Technique was undoubtedly perfected.

”Shadowless Fist!”

Nie Wu Xiang also leaped up, throwing five punches in quick succession. The transparent Fist Strength exploded in mid-air, transforming the heads of five bandits into smashed watermelons.

”Bad news! These guys are experts! Retreat quickly!” the bandit leader yelled, his face showing shock. He quickly pulled the reins and waved for a retreat.

”You wish to run away? Nie Wu Xiang, I’ll lay claim to the bandit leader!” Longyang had already charged into the crowd of bandits on his horse. Displaying the Green Edge Sword Technique, he sliced through them as if cutting melons and vegetables, heading towards the bandit leader.

Nie Wu Xiang was slightly slower but equally unstoppable. Wherever he went, bandits fell like mown leeks, harvested and killed.

The other True Disciples also took action, killing the remaining bandits.

Within the blink of an eye, the group of over a hundred bandits was reduced by more than two-thirds.

”Damn it! You want to kill me? I will make you pay the price!” Watching the heavy losses his bandits suffered, the leader’s eyes blazed red with fury. He roared, suddenly revealing the powerful cultivation of a Nine Heavy Realm Martial Artist.

Xiao Muyu was somewhat startled. ”Such a formidable fighter, yet he is content with leading bandits?”

Observing the bandit leader, Ling Chen speculated, ”He could be a rogue Martial Artist from some Sect, using an alias and hiding out here.”

BANG!

In their line of sight, the bandit leader launched twin fists at Nie Wu Xiang and Longyang in mid-air. To the surprise of the many True Disciples watching, he managed to repel the pair.

This bandit leader was unexpectedly formidable.

WHOOSH!

Just then, a mighty presence exploded in the valley. A figure soared into the sky, treading on air—it was none other than Great Elder Shangguan Hong!

He struck out with his palm in mid-air. A horrifying Palm Seal descended, blasting the bandit leader into pieces and instantly ending his life.

”This is the Great Elder’s unique skill, Cleaving Air Palm!”

Several True Disciples’ eyes sparkled. Witnessing the Great Elder in action today has truly been an eye-opener!

The Cleaving Air Palm: cleaving the Void, killing across distance. Such astonishing power was truly formidable.

A Nine Heavy Realm Martial Artist, killed so effortlessly. Facing the Great Elder’s impressive strength, Ling Chen couldn’t help but feel a sense of awe. In the face of a Grand Master, a Nine Heavy Realm Martial Artist truly doesn’t amount to much.

In the blink of an eye, the bandit leader was dealt a death sentence, having no chance to fight back whatsoever.
