Ling Tian Sword God

Chapter 123: Chapter 122 Demon_1

”Younger Sister Lu, are you alright?!”

Deng Lun, barely able to support himself, went to Lu Jie’s side to help her, but she shoved him away.

”You’re so useless! If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have ended up in this mess.”

Lu Jie’s eyes were still full of hatred. She despised Ling Chen for humiliating her and Deng Lun for his incompetence, which had led to her suffering.

”Ling Chen is an exceptional genius. His swordsmanship is superior, and he has now mastered Sword Intent. Someone like him is not someone we can afford to provoke. Fortunately, he’s a righteous person. It’s a blessing that we managed to keep our lives.”

Deng Lun summoned his remaining strength to speak, then collapsed from exhaustion.

Performing that secret technique had drained too much of his True Qi and Essence Blood.

”Useless bum! Just rot here for all I care!”

With cold eyes, Lu Jie kicked the unconscious Deng Lun and left him behind. Clutching her trembling right arm, she walked alone towards the foot of the mountain.

Just then, from within the mountainside, a thick vine suddenly shot out. It wrapped around Deng Lun’s body, bundling him up tightly, and dragged him into a crevice in the rocks.

The rustling sound made Lu Jie stop and whirl around.

The spot where Deng Lun had been was now completely empty.

How could this be?

Lu Jie’s eyes narrowed, and a look of terror appeared on her rather pretty face.

Someone who was perfectly fine moments ago had vanished into thin air. There really is something strange about this mountain.

Thinking of this, Lu Jie quickly circulated her True Qi, wanting to escape this eerie place.

But as soon as she moved, a vine suddenly shot out from behind her, wrapped around her right calf, and began dragging her furiously backward.

”No!”

Her terrified scream echoed throughout the mountain range.

”What happened?”

By this time, Ling Chen had already descended the mountain. When he heard the horrific scream, his expression changed—the voice was clearly Lu Jie’s.

Judging from the tone, she had obviously encountered something terrifying.

This place isn’t safe to stay for long.

Ling Chen quickened his pace, reached the lakeside, hopped onto the raft, and immediately departed.

Less than half an hour after Ling Chen departed Lake Heart Island, the entire island suddenly began to shake violently. At the mountain’s peak, a large rock exploded, and a skeletal, shadowy figure emerged from within.

The shadowy figure was an old man with a terrifying appearance. His eyes were sunken, his body skeletal—seemingly nothing but skin and bones. His hair was disheveled, and he wore a white robe that was clearly Deng Lun’s.

A trace of blood still lingered at the corner of the old man’s mouth.

”Thirty years! Those sanctimonious bastards trapped me for a solid thirty years! Thankfully, I never gave up.”

A chilling smile appeared on the old man’s gaunt face.

”The fresh blood of these Divine Intent Sect geniuses is truly delicious. If I can absorb a bit more, my Vitality Energy will recover significantly.”

The old man’s dark eyes swept around erratically. His eyesight was astonishing. His gaze suddenly fell upon a raft in the middle of the lake.

On the raft, Ling Chen was paddling with all his might, quickly heading towards the opposite shore.

The bodies of Top Sky Apex Strongs undergo a heaven-defying transformation, granting them hearing and eyesight far superior to ordinary people.

Another little fish slipped through the net. Looks quite tender, not bad.

A terrifying glint shone in the emaciated old man’s eyes. With a step into the void, he soared a hundred meters, landed lightly atop a large tree, and then darted towards Ling Chen with lightning speed.

SLAP! SLAP! SLAP! SLAP!

The vast lake surface seemed like solid ground beneath the emaciated old man’s feet. In the blink of an eye, he had closed in on Ling Chen’s small raft.

Is this man a Top Sky Apex Strong?

Seeing this, Ling Chen’s expression changed. Even a Grand Master, capable of traversing rivers, couldn’t move with such effortless grace as the emaciated old man, who covered miles in the blink of an eye.

Only a Top Sky Apex Strong would possess such power.

Could he be the Demon Elder who disappeared here thirty years ago?

Ling Chen’s eyes widened in shock, and a chill ran down his spine.

The Demon Elder was a prominent figure in the Jianghu thirty years ago. Rumor had it that he was exceptionally wicked, consuming the Essence Blood of living people for his demonic cultivation. He had killed no fewer than a thousand people before being ambushed by the previous Sect Leader of the Divine Intent Sect and a group of experts. It was on this Demon Island that he vanished.

To think the Demon Elder didn’t die. It seems he was only trapped on this Lake Heart Island.

While Ling Chen was still in shock, the emaciated old man had already flown above him, striking ferociously at his head with a clawed hand.

The terrifying pressure of a Top Sky Apex Strong bore down on Ling Chen, making it difficult for him to breathe.

In his haste, Ling Chen took out a Silver Thunderbolt and threw it directly at the emaciated old man.

BANG!

The Silver Thunderbolt exploded on contact. The violent explosion also flung Ling Chen away and shattered the raft beneath his feet.

Seizing the opportunity, Ling Chen executed his Wind Shadow Step. He kicked a piece of broken wood hard towards the opposite shore, then leaped onto the splinter, riding it like a surfboard towards the bank.

As the smoke cleared, the figure of the emaciated old man emerged, completely unscathed.

Not even a scratch.

Although he had anticipated this outcome, Ling Chen’s heart sank upon seeing it. Against a Top Sky Apex Strong, even the Silver Thunderbolt, which I considered my trump card, is utterly ineffective.

”Boy, are you trying to tickle me?” the emaciated old man jeered, sticking out his crimson tongue. He grinned, and with another tap of his foot, transformed into a phantom, flashing towards Ling Chen.

I’m doomed.

Ling Chen could smell the aura of death. Facing a Top Sky Apex Strong, with his current strength, he had no power to resist at all.

Before Ling Chen could react, or even take a step back, the emaciated old man’s claw was already before him. An eerie, black True Qi burst forth, crawling over the old man’s hand and transforming it into a sharp Black Claw.

HUM.

Just as the Black Claw was about to pierce Ling Chen’s body, the Blood Jade on his chest suddenly lit up. In the next instant, a blood-red light cocoon enveloped Ling Chen entirely.

The emaciated old man’s Black Claw, which had begun to pierce Ling Chen’s flesh, was slowly forced out by this light cocoon, unable to penetrate any further.

”What?”

A look of disbelief filled the emaciated old man’s eyes. What is this blood-red light? How could it enable a mere Martial Teacher Level brat to block my attack?

Before he could ponder further, a powerful repulsive force erupted from the Blood Cocoon, violently flinging the emaciated old man away.
