Ling Tian Sword God

Chapter 107: Chapter 106: The Might of the Ghost God_1

”Ling Chen, the number one genius of the Martial World. I didn’t expect you to be my greatest opponent this time. It’s surprising and exciting.”

Xiahou Lin harshly slammed his Long Halberd into the platform, a fierce fighting spirit surging from him, creating a tornado-like aura around him.

”The outcome of the match may not be so surprising.”

Air currents swirled above Ling Chen’s head like a Sharp Sword piercing the sky, forming a keen vortex.

”That remains to be seen.”

Xiahou Lin swirled his Long Halberd once, all his aura infusing into the strike, and said, ”It’s been a long time since I’ve encountered such a challenging opponent. I hope you can withstand my full power.”

”Let’s begin.”

The vortex around Ling Chen roiled, but his tone remained remarkably calm, as light as a breeze and soft as a cloud.

SWOOSH!

Xiahou Lin was the first to attack with his Black Spear. Its sharp, blood-red light tore through the air, aimed at Ling Chen not far away.

CLANG!

Ling Chen, having drawn his sword at some unnoticed moment, unleashed a wave of sword qi to block the Black Spear’s light.

”Unparalleled Ghost God!”

Xiahou Lin’s demeanor was wild. His Long Halberd, like an unbridled stallion, swept out madly without restraint. Black light from the Long Halberd spread everywhere, rampaging.

Ling Chen was sent flying by Xiahou Lin’s first overbearing strike with the Black Spear. However, he quickly somersaulted in mid-air, his Heavenly Mansion Sword thrusting out like a Heavenly Flying Sword—a stroke of genius.

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

For a moment, the clash of sword and Long Halberd echoed relentlessly. The platform was filled with sword qi and the Long Halberd’s light, obscuring the combatants’ figures to the point where their individual moves were invisible.

BANG!

Another fierce flash of sparks erupted, and a figure was shot out—Ling Chen. A trace of blood spilled from the corner of his mouth.

As the pervasive Air Energy dispersed, Xiahou Lin’s figure was revealed. He looked at Ling Chen, his eyes filled with a certain thrill.

”Exhilarating!”

Xiahou Lin hadn’t had such an exhilarating fight in a long time. He hadn’t expected anyone below the rank of True Disciple could fight him to this degree, making his blood boil.

”Ling Chen is injured!” a Disciple exclaimed immediately, noticing the blood at the corner of Ling Chen’s mouth.

”But Xiahou Lin seems unharmed. Is the outcome about to be decided?” The crowd tensed, their nerves on edge.

”Ling Chen, unleash your full power. Otherwise, you will regret holding back against me.”

With his Long Halberd in hand, Xiahou Lin didn’t rush to make another move. Instead, he spoke calmly.

”What? Ling Chen hasn’t unleashed his full strength yet?”

Bai Ruhui, Murong Ye, and others looked at Ling Chen in utter amazement. At such a critical juncture, how could he still be holding back his full strength? It seemed impossible.

But given Xiahou Lin’s status and temperament, there seemed to be no reason for him to lie just to elevate Ling Chen.

”As you wish!” Ling Chen no longer held back. A light suddenly flashed in his eyes. The next moment, his aura surged violently. His Cultivation level directly jumped from Second Layer Martial Artist to the Martial arts triple realm!

”So he really was holding back!”

Everyone’s pupils contracted. Ling Chen indeed had another card up his sleeve. This fellow had actually saved such a trump card until this very moment!

”Good! Good!”

After cheering ”Good!” twice, Xiahou Lin’s eyes blazed with fighting spirit. The stronger Ling Chen was, the more excited he became. Defeating Ling Chen now and claiming first place in this competition would be far more valuable and grant a greater sense of achievement.

”White Dragon Passing the Gap!”

After his Cultivation increased, Ling Chen swung his sword. His body became an afterimage, attacking Xiahou Lin with the speed of a sudden thunderclap and the force of a mighty lightning bolt.

Xiahou Lin grinned, thrusting his Long Halberd forward. It left trails in the air that spun like blooming flowers, shattering Ling Chen’s Sword Light.

The black light from the Long Halberd and the sharp sword qi intertwined, soaring into the sky. Powerful shockwaves rippled outwards in all directions, stirring up clouds of dust and debris.

Beyond their initial clash, it was impossible to tell who was attacking whom, who held the upper hand, or who was at a disadvantage. All the spectators saw was one Long Halberd strike after another, each sword blow sharper than the last. Towards the end, the shockwaves from the collision of sword qi and the Long Halberd’s light grew terrifying. Both fighters seemed omnipresent, the entire platform their battleground.

”A hundred moves already! They must be nearing their limits!”

An Inner Disciple glanced at the sky. The setting sun cast a vibrant afterglow upon the Martial Arts Plaza, making the fierce battle seem even more fantastical and intense. He couldn’t help but draw a sharp breath.

Martial Artists, after all, were not Great Master Level Powerhouses. The True Qi they could mobilize was limited. An ordinary Martial Artist would have long since exhausted their True Qi after a hundred moves.

”These two are both freaks! I wonder who will have the last laugh.”

”Xiahou Lin is at the peak of the Fifth Level in his Cultivation. The longer this goes on, the more it should favor him!”

”That’s not necessarily true. Ling Chen’s Sword Intent Embryo is said to be able to slay gods if they block, and slay Buddhas if they block. I refuse to believe Xiahou Lin can withstand it!”

Among the Inner Disciples, more than half supported Xiahou Lin, but about forty percent favored Ling Chen, their cheers creating a considerable clamor.

Initially, no one believed Ling Chen could be Xiahou Lin’s evenly matched opponent. But now, Ling Chen’s performance had undoubtedly won everyone over.

”Wrath of Ghosts and Gods!”

Xiahou Lin halted. With a loud roar like a sudden clap of thunder, he gathered an unending torrent of power at the tip of his Long Halberd and smashed it down towards Ling Chen.

”Breaking Clouds Fivefold.”

Ling Chen swung his Heavenly Emperor Heavy Sword upwards. Five sword shadows traced the path of the Heavy Sword, then merged into a single, powerful strike, meeting the overbearing Black Spear.

CLANG!

A deafening metallic collision resounded, and both figures flew backward.

Ling Chen retreated to the edge of the martial arts platform. Then, with a forceful stomp, he shot forward again. All his momentum focused into a single point as he broke through the air.

Fifth Form of Dragon Seeking Sword Technique, White Dragon Breath.

Xiahou Lin showed no fear. He laughed heartily and thrust his Long Halberd once more.

CLANG!

SWOOSH!

This time, Ling Chen’s sword qi, like an agile white dragon, shattered Xiahou Lin’s halberd light and then bit into Xiahou Lin’s chest, leaving a deep Blood Cave.

”I can’t believe Xiahou Lin was actually defeated.”

An Inner Disciple shook his head, his tone regretful.

”He’s just injured. That doesn’t necessarily mean he’s defeated, does it?”

The Inner Disciple beside him sounded somewhat surprised.

”When Experts clash, any slight disadvantage or opening will be seized by the opponent and infinitely magnified, let alone an injury as serious as this.” The first Disciple spoke as if he had already foreseen the result.

”Ling Chen, face my final move!”

Xiahou Lin glanced at the wound on his chest. The injury was neither light nor severe, but it put him at a great disadvantage. He had to use this final Long Halberd strike to force a decisive outcome with Ling Chen, to settle the contest with this last move.

”Ghost Astonishes the World!”

A black glow erupted from Xiahou Lin. His Long Halberd, as if wreathed in terrifying, crackling thunder, slammed towards Ling Chen, stunning everyone present and showing his do-or-die resolve.
