Ling Tian Sword God

Chapter 124: Chapter 123 Narrow Road of Rivalry_1

An expression of someone who had just escaped death appeared on Ling Chen’s face. He didn’t dare to stay a moment longer. After the skinny elder was blasted away and fell into the water, Ling Chen immediately turned and fled, pushing his Wind Shadow Step to its absolute limit.

SPLASH!

After Ling Chen had fled a hundred meters, the skinny elder burst out of the water. His palm was a mangled mess; the flesh had clearly been corroded by the earlier red light.

”Interesting lad.” The skinny elder looked at his own palm with some astonishment, a trace of surprise appearing in his eyes. To think this boy could injure me, a Top Sky Apex Strong. Just what kind of secret is he hiding?

”A brat from the Divine Intent Sect. We’ll definitely meet again. For today, I’ll let you off the hook.” The skinny elder decided not to pursue Ling Chen further and turned to leave.

「Three miles away.」

Thank goodness he didn’t pursue me. Ling Chen sensed no movement behind him and slowly exhaled. He had used Wind Shadow Step to sprint for three miles, finally shaking off that skinny elder.

However, Ling Chen didn’t believe he could truly shake off an expert like the Demon Elder. The latter probably hadn’t continued his relentless pursuit because of the Blood Jade’s display of power earlier.

Just what is the origin of this jade? Ling Chen grew increasingly curious. What kind of treasure was this jade that it could even reflect the attack of a Top Sky Apex Strong? This was definitely no ordinary item. He feared that even the wondrous items on the Jianghu’s List of Marvels couldn’t compare to this Blood Jade.

This was his father’s possession. Only Ling Tianyu likely knew its true origin.

I must find Elder Bai Kui as soon as possible and end the trial. Ling Chen felt a growing unease. He feared no one else knew about the Demon Elder’s appearance yet. Even the Great Elder was likely no match for the Demon Elder. If other True Disciples encountered him, they would undoubtedly die.

At this thought, he quickened his pace and sped towards the outskirts of Black Wind Ridge.

「Not far away, two figures appeared in a clearing—Zhan Yu and Yun Tianhe.」

”Where on earth could Ling Chen be hiding? After all this time, we still haven’t found any trace of him,” Yun Tianhe said, his expression turning somewhat grim. The longer this drags on, the more disadvantageous it becomes. Only by finding Ling Chen quickly and dealing with him can I be at ease.

”Who would have thought Elder Bai Kui would change the rules at the last minute? Otherwise, I would have been fully prepared!” Yun Tianhe was anxious, and Zhan Yu was equally so. If I can eliminate Ling Chen, Yu Qingxuan will agree to be with me. But if I fail this time, I’m afraid Yu Qingxuan won’t just refuse to discuss it further; she’ll be incredibly disappointed in me, Zhan Yu thought.

”Let’s keep searching,” Yun Tianhe said, scanning his surroundings. ”Only a day has passed. I refuse to believe we can’t find him.” This is a golden opportunity to eliminate Ling Chen. If I miss this chance, who knows how long I’ll have to wait to avenge myself and wipe away my shame.

But even as he said that, he was still very worried. Black Wind Ridge was vast, and the possibility of not finding Ling Chen was quite high.

”Don’t worry,” Zhan Yu said, a cold glint in his eyes. ”When we entered, I spoke with many True Disciples, asking them to watch for Ling Chen’s whereabouts. If anyone spots him, they’ll send a signal to me.” My network among the True Disciples is far beyond what Ling Chen could compare to. Besides, I’ve promised them benefits; as long as they provide information, I will reward them generously.

Therefore, he wasn’t too worried about failing to find Ling Chen in the time to come.

BANG!

Just then, a firework suddenly exploded in the distant sky. It was multicolored and brilliant, and though it was quite far away, the sound of the explosion still carried over.

”There it is! They’ve found the brat! Let’s go!” Watching the firework explode in mid-air, a smile instantly spread across Zhan Yu’s face. My luck has turned! Another True Disciple has sent the signal.

”Excellent! Brother Zhan Yu, we’re counting on you this time!” A cold smirk touched the corners of Yun Tianhe’s mouth. Both of them activated their movement techniques and rapidly approached the location where the firework had exploded.

「”What was that just now?” Ling Chen also saw the blooming firework and frowned. I have a faint premonition that this signal might have something to do with me.」

Dismissing the doubt in his mind, Ling Chen didn’t dwell on it. After a brief rest, he continued swiftly towards the pass at the edge of the ridge.

However, about the time it takes for an incense stick to burn later, the same firework signal bloomed in the sky once more.

”Again?” If Ling Chen had only been suspicious before, he was now certain: this signal was definitely related to him.

The moment Ling Chen stopped, a sudden commotion arose in the nearby woods. In the next instant, a black arrow tore through the air, fiercely targeting Ling Chen’s face.

Taking a step to his left, the arrow grazed past Ling Chen’s face.

Immediately, two figures appeared in Ling Chen’s line of sight.

”You two are truly relentless, aren’t you?” Ling Chen’s eyes narrowed slightly. He knew who these two were without even needing to look.

”Heh heh, Ling Chen, I can only say you didn’t hide well enough. After hiding for so long, you still couldn’t escape our grasp in the end.” Yun Tianhe crossed his arms, looking at Ling Chen with a smirk that wasn’t quite a smile.

It was as if, in his eyes, Ling Chen was already fish on the chopping block, to be slaughtered at their whim.

”Hiding?” Ling Chen chuckled and shook his head. ”From just the two of you? I have no need to hide. You’re not worthy of that yet.”

”What did you say?” Zhan Yu’s rather handsome face quickly darkened. A brat who only just became a True Disciple dares to look down on me? Utterly arrogant!

Beside him, Yun Tianhe sneered, ”Ling Chen, you can only afford to be arrogant now. Then again, your mouth has always been far mightier than your actual strength.”

”Are you talking about yourself, my defeated opponent?” Ling Chen said faintly.

Hearing the words ’defeated opponent,’ the smile on Yun Tianhe’s face slowly stiffened. He considered his loss to Ling Chen his greatest humiliation. Ling Chen’s mention of it was like replaying the scene of him being nailed to a pillar of shame.

”Brother Zhan Yu, it’s time for you to make your move.” A cold light glinted in Yun Tianhe’s eyes as he continued, ”As for Sister Yu Qingxuan, I will do my utmost to help things along between you two. But the premise is, you must handle this matter for me properly.”

Hearing this, Zhan Yu’s eyes lit up. ”Then I’ll have to trouble Junior Brother Yun to put in a few good words for me. As for the task, I’ll ensure it’s done perfectly.”

With that said, he drew the Miao knife from his waist and advanced towards Ling Chen.
