A '70s Flash Marriage: Raising Cubs, Making Millions

Chapter 149: Chapter 149: Whose Problem Is It?

”You’re talking nonsense, my son has no problems.” Aunt Chen’s face changed, and she refused to admit any problems with her son’s health. If this news spread, how would their family face the villagers in the future?

It would be utterly embarrassing.

”Boy urine does have medicinal effects. It can nourish the yin, reduce internal heat, and cool the blood to disperse bruises. In some folk remedies, it’s used for treating injuries and has been said to cure certain skin conditions like rashes.” Fu Xiaoxiao didn’t refute her; instead, she just educated the crowd on the effects of boy urine.

But saying drinking boy urine can lead to the birth of a boy is utterly absurd.

”What exactly are you trying to say?” Aunt Chen couldn’t comprehend Fu Xiaoxiao’s words and wanted to know her intention.

”What I mean is if you’re willing to listen, don’t trust these remedies. Quickly take your son and daughter-in-law to a hospital, nurture their bodies for half a year, and maybe they’ll still have a chance to conceive.” Fu Xiaoxiao said earnestly.

”Exactly, Chen Family, listen to what she’s saying! Your son may look handsome, but it doesn’t help. It’s been three years without a pregnancy, and it’s not necessarily your daughter-in-law’s fault. If you want a grandson, you should go to a reputable hospital to get their health checked. If there’s a disease, treat it; once they’re healthy, the grandson will come naturally. If you delay treatment, the illness won’t improve, and you’ll still end up without a grandson.” Aunt Wang spoke up to support Fu Xiaoxiao when she saw Aunt Chen wanted to argue back.

As women of the village, Aunt Wang clearly understood Aunt Chen’s anxiety stemmed from lacking a grandson. In the village, failing to pass on the Chen Family line would likely anger the ancestors in the afterlife.

Such beliefs aren’t easily changed with a few words.

Upon hearing Aunt Wang side with Fu Xiaoxiao, Aunt Chen dragged her son away disgruntledly. ”My son isn’t sick.”

Aunt Chen stubbornly refused to go, and Fu Xiaoxiao glanced at the overlooked Chen Family daughter-in-law.

”Thank you.” The Chen Family daughter-in-law gratefully looked at Fu Xiaoxiao; she was the first person willing to speak up for her.

Though others knew it wasn’t entirely her fault, they’d still blame her for not conceiving. In truth, she understood very well that she couldn’t get pregnant.

Her husband couldn’t perform. She tried telling her mother-in-law, but she wouldn’t believe and blamed her instead.

Fu Xiaoxiao patted her in silent consolation.

Her husband — anyone could see he suffered from a congenital kidney disease, needing proper medication and potentially hopes of recovery.

”I’m fine.” The Chen Family daughter-in-law waved her hand and turned to head home.

The crowd watched her retreating figure, and Aunt Wang patted Fu Xiaoxiao. ”You should write more and teach us such knowledge; the women in the village dare not speak out about their problems. They endure everything silently, even acknowledging it’s not their fault.”

She supported Fu Xiaoxiao’s blunt approach; hiding things doesn’t mean they’ll improve. It’s just that the pain remains unspeakable.

Fu Xiaoxiao hesitated for a moment, then nodded.

Many feel ashamed to share personal matters, lacking essential knowledge.

Fu Xiaoxiao held Lu Chen’s hand to bid farewell to Aunt Wang and the others, while Aunt Wang and Aunt Zhang hugged Lu Chen reluctantly. ”Can’t Xiao Chen stay a bit longer with us?”

”Grandmas, I’ll come to visit you again in two days!” Lu Chen hugged them and nuzzled, waving to them with a smile.

”Oh, alright! Little darling grandson.” Hearing Lu Chen’s words made them happy.

On the way home, Lu Chen finally asked the question lingering in his heart.

”Mom, why did that aunt want my pee just now?” Lu Chen didn’t understand why his urine was needed. ”Is it for fertilizing soil?”

Lu Chen only knew that urine could be used as fertilizer for planting vegetables.

”She wanted to have a baby. Someone misled her with wrong ideas, so she wanted your pee.” Fu Xiaoxiao did not brush off the question but seriously answered him.

After hearing Fu Xiaoxiao’s serious response, Lu Chen raised his head. ”Mom, you just said it was the uncle’s problem, right? Why doesn’t she believe it?”

”Because in her perception, there’s nothing wrong with her child. She can’t see her son’s shortcomings. She’s stubbornly convinced that the fault lies elsewhere.” Fu Xiaoxiao explained.

”I see! So if the uncle listens to you, goes to the doctor, and gets better, can they then have a baby?” Lu Chen curiously asked.

”Indeed! If he’s willing to seek treatment, he might still have a chance to have his own baby.” Fu Xiaoxiao ruffled Lu Chen’s hair.

”I hope he can obediently listen.” Lu Chen, with a look beyond his years, sighed.

Fu Xiaoxiao was amused by Lu Chen’s expression. ”Exactly, it would be great if he listens.”

Aunt Chen grabbed Chen Hao and returned home, angrily sitting down. ”What’s wrong with that person, just asking for some boy urine, and she says you’re sick? It’s utter nonsense.”

Chen Hao silently sat down and glanced at his mother. ”Mom, maybe what she’s saying is right.”

”What’s wrong? Son, do you really feel unwell somewhere?” Aunt Chen immediately stood up in concern, scrutinizing her son.

”I...” Chen Hao lowered his head, unsure how to tell his mother. Until now, he’d never consummated with his wife; pride involved, his wife also pitied him and accepted the blame herself.

Watching his wife forced to drink boy urine, Chen Hao felt indescribable sorrow and pain — between his mother’s urgent desire for a grandson, and his wife enduring much grievance for him.

”Mom, actually I can’t.” Chen Hao swallowed hard, looking at his mother and bravely admitted.

”Son, tell mom the truth. Did your wife force you to say this?” Aunt Chen’s immediate reaction was that her daughter-in-law coerced her son into saying this.

Just to clear her own blame.

”Mom, what I’m saying is the truth... actually... I haven’t been able to complete it with Xiao Cui.” Chen Hao lowered his head in defeat, not wanting his mother to keep pestering his wife.

He’s exhausted, his wife is exhausted, his mom is exhausted — the whole family has been troubled by this for long.

He doesn’t want to keep struggling.

”What?” Aunt Chen was genuinely shocked now, clutching his shoulders. ”Son, what’s going on? Tell mom clearly.”

”It’s just... I can’t get it up. Don’t blame Xiao Cui; she tried many ways. It’s my fault.” Chen Hao held his mother and sighed heavily. ”Xiao Cui is a good wife; she cares for me, afraid you’ll be disappointed, and always covered for me.”

”Allowing you to blame her, she remained silent. Whatever you gave her, she drank it without complaint. But mom, the problem lies with me, not Xiao Cui.” Chen Hao grabbed his mother’s hand, choking back tears.

He’s the sinner; it’s all his fault.
