A '70s Flash Marriage: Raising Cubs, Making Millions

Chapter 113: Chapter 113: Lu Chen the Chatterbox

Fu Xiaoxiao and Lu Feng followed the police to the map. The map marked all the areas of the county town. Fu Xiaoxiao analyzed the possible hiding places of the traffickers: they needed to be close to the station, hidden from discovery, inconspicuous, and have a mix of people.

”Here!” Lu Feng and Fu Xiaoxiao pointed to the same area at the same time, their fingertips colliding, and exchanged a surprised glance.

Lu Feng was not surprised, as he had long dealt with traffickers and knew their habits and tricks.

That Fu Xiaoxiao was also able to guess their hideout made Lu Feng take an extra look at her.

”You go scout it out first.” Fu Xiaoxiao didn’t explain anything to Lu Feng; the most important thing now was to find Lu Chen’s location first.

Every second counted. The sooner they find the child, the less harm done to them.

”Alright.” Lu Feng immediately took several officers and ran out.

On this side, Fu Xiaoxiao and Lu Feng were anxiously looking for Lu Chen and Lu Lin, while at that moment, Lu Chen was blindfolded and locked in a storage room in a remote courtyard. It was extremely noisy nearby, a man was guarding him, pacing impatiently.

”How could my luck be so bad? I thought it was just an ordinary kid, but how did it lead to the entire city’s police being dispatched?” The man bit his finger, the pain making him even more irritable.

Right now, Lu Chen was like a hot potato. He just wanted to make some money to marry a wife and live a good life; he didn’t want to get caught.

Five-year-old Lu Chen sat in a corner full of straw, his eyes filled with curiosity and excitement, completely unaware that he was in a terrifying crisis.

”Uncle, you’re really amazing! You run faster than the old yellow cow in the village!” Lu Chen shouted, his voice clear and loud, standing out among the noisy crowd.

The man looked back at him impatiently, glaring viciously, ”Shut your mouth, or I’ll cut off your tongue if you keep making noise!”

The man was trying hard to concentrate and think of an escape plan, but Lu Chen’s voice was like a buzzing fly, persistently at his ear.

Lu Chen wasn’t bothered at all, smiling broadly, revealing his little canines.

”Uncle, don’t be angry! I just think you’re amazing. You were so strong just now, carrying me and running fast, just like my dad! Uncle, were you a soldier before? My dad is amazing, he can fight many people!”

The man didn’t respond to him, anxiously racking his brain for a way out.

Lu Chen didn’t stop chattering, pointing at the fleeting figures outside the window, excitedly saying, ”Uncle, listen, there are a lot of police uncles outside. They must be going house to house looking for people! I wonder if they’re looking for me. Uncle, listen, are they about to knock on our door?”

”Brat, wishful thinking, that’s on the street next door, they won’t find you!” the man sneered and turned his head, ignoring Lu Chen again.

Seeing him ignore him, Lu Chen began chirping again, ”Uncle, where are you taking me? Is it a fun place? I love going to the supply and marketing cooperative, there are lots of delicious candies and fun toys there. Uncle, can you take me there?”

The man was annoyed to death, frowning, gritting his teeth and threatening, ”Brat, if you say one more word, I’ll put you in the cesspool.”

Lu Chen was stunned, eyes wide, and muttered softly, ”Uncle, don’t always be fierce, I won’t speak anymore, okay? Stingy.”

But after a short while, he couldn’t help but speak, ”Uncle, you’re so amazing! Aren’t you afraid of the police? Are you very familiar with this place? Where did that auntie go earlier? I’m a little hungry, can you give me something to eat?”

The man felt like his head was about to explode and began to regret taking this ”job.”

Lu Chen was silent for two seconds, but couldn’t help opening his mouth again, only this time just starting, ”Uncle...”

The man’s spiritual defense completely collapsed, he stood straight, turned suddenly, and shouted at Lu Chen, ”Shut up! If you keep making noise, I’ll sell you to the deep mountains, where you’ll never go home!”

Lu Chen was startled by his sudden roar, tears welling up instantly, lips trembling as he whispered, ”Uncle, don’t be angry, I won’t make noise...”

The man looked at Lu Chen’s pitiful appearance, feeling a bit regretful for his impulse.

He took a deep breath and thought hard for a way to get out safely; his elderly mother at home was waiting for him to bring money back.

He promised his mother that this time he would definitely earn a lot of money, go home to marry a wife, and have a big fat grandson for her.

But Lu Chen’s nagging was like a curse, echoing endlessly in his mind, making him annoyed and his original plan a mess.

The entire city’s police were searching for them, and as long as he took Lu Chen out, he’d surely be caught.

But staying in this room meant the police would find them sooner or later. What could he do to make the police let him go?

”Uncle, are you afraid of getting caught?” Lu Chen glanced at the man, although he had been fierce just now, he hadn’t laid hands on him despite his nagging, and asked carefully.

”Brat, you...” The man squinted, thinking Lu Chen was about to start chattering incessantly again.

”Uncle, if you’re afraid of getting caught, why don’t you just throw me in the street? I don’t even know what you look like, so you’re safe.” Before the man could act, Lu Chen held his head and shouted.

”... you!” The man raised an eyebrow, his fist stopping in front of Lu Chen’s head.

Lu Chen’s eyes were blindfolded, he really couldn’t see his appearance. As long as he tossed him on the street and Lu Chen was found by the police, he could get away...

The man was tempted.

”You’re sure you won’t turn me in?” The man didn’t want to go to jail, he walked up to Lu Chen and lifted him up.

”I won’t, I promise.” Lu Chen smiled obediently. ”I’ve been blindfolded by you, how could I see you?”

”Fine, then shut up. When I put you down, if you call for help, don’t blame me for taking your life.” The man threatened fiercely.

”Mmm-hmm!” Lu Chen immediately covered his mouth, indicating he absolutely wouldn’t talk.

The man stuffed Lu Chen into a burlap sack, just like when he was initially kidnapped, and carried him out.

Lu Chen heard the surrounding noise gradually fade and become silent, feeling a bit scared.

But he couldn’t show it until the man set him down, feeling the earth under his feet.

”Stay here and don’t move!” the man said to Lu Chen, checked that no one was around, and removed the sack covering him.

Lu Chen stood there for a long time, waiting until the man’s footsteps completely disappeared before softly calling.

”Can I take it off?”

After a long silence, Lu Chen raised his hand to remove the cloth from over his eyes.
