A '70s Flash Marriage: Raising Cubs, Making Millions

Chapter 110: Chapter 110: Over-the-Top Wife Spoiling, Lu

”Alright! If you take all this lean meat, I’ll throw in these bones for free,” the vendor laughed.

”Sister, don’t. There’s no fat in these, and bones are practically free anyway...” Chen Xiu hurriedly tugged at Fu Xiaoxiao’s clothes, afraid she’d get a bad deal.

Hearing Chen Xiu’s words, the vendor took out a big basin of innards. ”How about this? If you take it, I’ll give you these as well.”

”These pig innards are so smelly and dirty, who’d want them? Don’t bully my sister just because she doesn’t know better,” Chen Xiu glared at the vendor, unable to contain herself.

Truthfully, looking at that pile of innards, Fu Xiaoxiao was already doing the math in her head.

”Wrap it up! I’ll take it all.” Before Fu Xiaoxiao could say anything, Lu Feng, who had been watching her reaction, spoke up first, telling the vendor to wrap up the remaining meat.

”Brother, you’re serious?” The vendor glanced at Fu Xiaoxiao and then at Lu Feng.

Who exactly makes the decisions in this family?

”Wrap it up!” Fu Xiaoxiao chuckled lightly and nodded.

What’s left are pork shoulders and ribs, the leanest parts. She originally didn’t like fatty food, so this was actually her favorite.

”Alright then... I’m really wrapping it up!” The vendor said as he started packing, giving Chen Xiu a glance.

”Comrade, can we leave this with you for a bit? We want to buy some other things elsewhere. My husband will come to pick it up later, okay?” Fu Xiaoxiao said to the vendor.

”Once I sell out, I can go home. How about this? Where do you want to leave your stuff? I’ll deliver it for you and watch it for a while.” The vendor was frank, glad to finish selling the meat early and could show off to the in-laws. Besides, he had some time, so he’d help watch their stuff.

”That’s really too kind of you.” Fu Xiaoxiao’s eyes lit up, and Lu Feng stepped forward to tell him where their car was parked.

Upon hearing that Lu Feng drove a military vehicle, the vendor’s expression turned serious, quickly saying, ”No problem at all. You go ahead and stroll around, I’ll keep an eye on the car.”

When they brought the stuff over to the military car, the vendor was eager to touch and look all over; it was his first time seeing a car so up close. It really was an impressive hunk of metal.

At the market, they found the toy gun Lu Lin wanted and the candied hawthorn Lu Chen desired. Without a word, Fu Xiaoxiao took out her wallet, ready to pay.

But Lu Feng had already stepped in to pay before she could take out her money.

”How could I let you pay?” Lu Feng chuckled, signaling to Fu Xiaoxiao to continue ”battling” as he took care of the payments.

Fu Xiaoxiao was on a shopping spree at the market, spending money at a rate that made Chen Xiu, who was beside her, feel the pinch.

”Sister, maybe... maybe you should spend a bit less?” Chen Xiu was worried Lu Feng might get angry. If it were her husband, he would’ve lost his temper ages ago.

”It’s fine, sister-in-law, let her buy!” There was no sign of anger on Lu Feng’s face; he simply looked on indulgently as Fu Xiaoxiao bought and bought, stepping up to pay at the right moments.

Not a trace of impatience.

Chen Xiu looked at Lu Feng and sighed quietly.

These young folks really aren’t thrifty with their money.

”Hehe.” With such a generous husband in Lu Feng, Fu Xiaoxiao couldn’t stop herself from buying, buying, buying.

In the end, the shopping spree resulted in them not being able to fit everything in the car.

Fu Xiaoxiao looked at her purchases, which seemed even bigger than the car, and fell into deep thought. ”Did I really buy that much?”

”...Yes!” Chen Xiu answered seriously and loudly. She couldn’t stop her at all, and the most irritating part was there was someone spoiling her, not only not advising against it but even encouraging her to buy more.

Fu Xiaoxiao slowly lowered her head in shame.

”It’s fine, just this much, I’ll make a call.” Unable to bear seeing Fu Xiaoxiao blame herself, Lu Feng went to borrow the phone at the street office to call the base, asking Wang Lu to bring another car to pick them up.

Receiving the call, Wang Lu was dumbfounded. ”How much did Mr. Lu buy? Do I need to drive a truck to pick them up?”

”Alright, just wait here for a bit.” Lu Feng returned with a smile, and Lu Lin and Lu Chen looked at him with twinkling eyes.

”Dad, you’re amazing.” Lu Chen didn’t hesitate to shower him with praise.

”You’re just spoiling her!” Chen Xiu was tired of advising, she couldn’t do anything, just watching them made her speechless with admiration.

”Sister Chen Xiu, everything here is needed...” Seeing Chen Xiu’s sigh, Fu Xiaoxiao said with an awkward smile.

There was envy in Chen Xiu’s eyes. ”I don’t blame you, I’m just envious you married such a good man.”

Li Si would never be as generous as Lu Feng because half of his stipend had to be sent back to support his parents and siblings, leaving them to rely on the other half, living a tight life. She very much wished she could shop as freely as Fu Xiaoxiao.

”It’s for the family with two kids. His parents never consider how tight things are for us here. I have to repeatedly alter and patch the kids’ clothes just to save up some money for the new year, yet Li Si never spares a thought for the three of us. Only his parents and siblings from his hometown matter to him. When I work hard to save money, he doesn’t even ask, he just sends it back,” Chen Xiu used to find Li Si’s filial piety unquestionable, never stopping him.

But over the years, Li Si took her less and less seriously. It finally dawned on her that doing more doesn’t make him cherish her.

In his heart, he looked down on her busyness at home, just seeing it as her duty.

Hearing Chen Xiu’s grievances, Fu Xiaoxiao stepped forward and patted her comfortingly. ”Sister-in-law, if he can’t make decisions for you, then you make them for yourself.”

”If he thinks what you do is easy, let him do it. From now on just act blind, don’t rush to clean up after him. Just focus on you and the two kids. Without you, how could he have such a comfortable life? He just got used to being pampered, really thinking himself a lord.”

Fu Xiaoxiao’s words stunned Chen Xiu. ”Really?”

”This family is yours too. Without you, would he live such a good life? If he doesn’t cherish it, yet still dares to bang the table at you? Don’t indulge him, he’s your husband, it’s only right you discipline him,” Fu Xiaoxiao whispered in Chen Xiu’s ear.

Lu Feng discreetly perked up his ears, catching some bits, yet unable to hear clearly.

”Alright, sister. I’ll set him straight when I get back! Every day I’m exhausted, yet he comes home complaining and banging the table at me, I hear nothing nice. You’re right! I’ve been spoiling him too much!” Chen Xiu also felt it unfair for herself.

Working tirelessly every day, tired to the point her waist hurts, yet not a kind word in return, only knives stabbing her heart.

No one is made of iron, without warmth, she won’t serve anymore.

Let whoever wants to serve, serve.

Fu Xiaoxiao nodded in satisfaction.

Lu Feng sidled up to Fu Xiaoxiao and quietly asked, ”What did you say to her?”

”You want to give it a try too?” Fu Xiaoxiao raised a brow, finding this man quite gossipy too!

”No, no, I’ll skip that, ahem! That’s a mistake I surely won’t make,” Lu Feng looked at Fu Xiaoxiao with seriousness.

Considering his performance today, Fu Xiaoxiao gave him a smile.
