A '70s Flash Marriage: Raising Cubs, Making Millions

Chapter 122: Chapter 122: Lin Qiu’s Good News

”That’s yours from the Li Family, I won’t take it! After divorcing you, you take care of the kids yourself!” Chen Xiu glanced at Li Si, feeling even colder in her heart. Fu Xiaoxiao was right; Li Si would use the kids.

He wants to use the kids as leverage; she won’t indulge him.

”Mom! We want to go with you!” This scared Li Lei and Li Sen.

They hugged Chen Xiu’s leg and wouldn’t let go.

”Mom, I don’t want to go with him. Don’t leave us.” Li Sen cried and pointed at Li Si, cursing. ”You go, we don’t want you. You always bully my mom! We don’t want you anymore.”

”Stone, Wood!” Unexpectedly, his two sons said this, and Li Si was shocked.

Even his sons didn’t want him.

Chen Hong looked at Chen Xiu, then at Li Si. Although she was supposed to help Li Si, she didn’t want to at all.

Chen Hong felt troubled, unsure of what to do.

She looked around for help, wondering if anyone had a good suggestion.

Fu Xiaoxiao saw Chen Hong like this, and slowly stepped forward. ”Comrade Chen Hong, I think that since things have escalated like this, everyone needs a calm space to think about whether they really want a divorce. Right now, they’re too emotional to speak properly.”

”How about this? Arrange for Captain Li to stay at the barracks for a while. Let Sister Chen Xiu and the two kids stay at home, or let Sister Chen Xiu stay alone, and the kids can stay with Captain Li. Let them live separately for a while to calm down.”

Fu Xiaoxiao’s suggestion hit home for Chen Hong, who gave Fu Xiaoxiao an approving look.

”I think Comrade Fu Xiaoxiao’s suggestion is very good. Since it’s like this, Captain Li, you should go and stay at the barracks for now, and when you calm down we’ll see if the divorce is really necessary. If you decide you want to divorce, come to me to handle the paperwork.” As a woman, Chen Hong was inclined toward Chen Xiu.

With a man like this, staying together would just be painful.

”Divorce? Hmph! I want to see how well she’ll live without me.” Li Si turned away, packed a few clothes, and left without a glance back.

He didn’t care about the two kids.

Seeing Li Si like this, Chen Hong grew even angrier.

”Sister-in-law Chen, you should calm down too; I’ll come back in a few days.” Chen Hong said to Chen Xiu.

Chen Xiu nodded, with a cold face returned next door.

Li Sen and Li Lei followed closely, heads down, too frightened to cause any more trouble.

Fu Xiaoxiao exchanged a look with Chen Xiu, who nodded and began tidying up the mess at home.

Back at the office, Chen Hong sighed.

”Xiao Hong, what’s going on? Didn’t persuade Captain Li successfully?” A colleague asked curiously upon seeing Chen Hong like this.

”That Captain Li is too much! If I were Sister-in-law Chen, I’d want a divorce too.” Chen Hong explained Li Si’s excessive behavior to her colleague, who patted her shoulder when she finished.

”You really can’t blame Comrade Fu Xiaoxiao for this. If it were me, I’d definitely say the same thing. This Sister-in-law Chen is already famous in our unit for being capable; she manages two boys on her own, constantly busy day and night. Such a good comrade, driven to divorce out of anger. You can’t blame the person supporting her; the fault lies with Captain Li for not fulfilling his duties as a husband.” The colleague also felt Fu Xiaoxiao wasn’t wrong.

Marital issues aren’t related to someone merely offering a comment; the problem is between the couple, due to the man’s incompetence.

”The director’s back; you should talk to her about how to handle this...” The colleague returned to their desk as they saw their director come back.

Standing up, Chen Hong spoke to the director. ”Director, I have a matter; I’d like your opinion.”

The director paused, signaling Chen Hong to follow her into the office. ”Tell me.”

”It’s like this. Today, I received Captain Li’s...” Chen Hong relayed today’s events to the director, who remained silent for a long time after listening.

”In principle, we don’t have the authority to prevent their divorce; we can only advise them. But if advice doesn’t work, we’ve done our part.” The director slowly sipped tea and said to Chen Hong calmly.

”Director, but Captain Li was blaming Comrade Fu Xiaoxiao...” Chen Hong asked further.

”You can’t blame her for this, it’s just a comment, it can’t be held responsible for the divorce.” The director glanced at Chen Hong, clearing Fu Xiaoxiao’s name with one remark.

”Right, right. Now I know what to do.” Receiving the directive, Chen Hong gratefully exited the office.

”How did it go? What did the director say?” The colleague asked with curiosity.

Chen Hong smiled slightly. ”This has nothing to do with Comrade Fu Xiaoxiao; whether they divorce is up to them. We’ve advised, but if it doesn’t work, there’s nothing more we can do, right?”

”Hahaha.” The colleague understood, and the two shared a knowing smile.

Feeling grudges, Li Si returned to the barracks; everyone else had already gone home. At the barracks, he had no warm blankets, had to do everything himself, and struggled to adapt to soldier life after being accustomed to being served.

It’s easy to go from simple to extravagant, but hard from extravagant to simple.

Li Si was struggling, but Chen Xiu was enjoying herself.

When Li Lei and Li Sen saw Chen Xiu, they were like mice encountering a cat, no longer daring to fuss. They hurried to help whenever Chen Xiu did anything.

Afraid that Chen Xiu would truly divorce and leave them.

On the surface, Chen Xiu kept a stern face, but privately, she was very pleased.

When Lin Qiu came by again, Fu Xiaoxiao noticed how radiant Lin Qiu looked, almost like a different person, and found it hard to recognize her.

”What did you... eat some magical elixir?” Fu Xiaoxiao held Lin Qiu’s hand, leading her to the yard. In just a few days, Lin Qiu had transformed completely.

”Listen, I followed your advice.” Lin Qiu smirked and patted Fu Xiaoxiao.

”Me?” Fu Xiaoxiao pointed at herself, wondering what major achievement she had accomplished.

”You advised me to carefully consider my relationship with Fu Cheng. He’s walked ninety-nine steps; the last step should be mine.” Lin Qiu blushed and looked at Fu Xiaoxiao.

”Did you get together?” Fu Xiaoxiao’s eyes widened, surprised by the huge step Lin Qiu had taken quietly.

”Mm. Sort of!” Lin Qiu nodded with a shy, red face.

Just then, Lu Feng came out of the room, wearing his army uniform ready for training.

Seeing Lu Feng, Lin Qiu immediately stood up gratefully.

”Thank you, Mr. Lu.”

”Thank me?” Lu Feng was puzzled, looking at Fu Xiaoxiao for assistance.

Fu Xiaoxiao shook her head, she didn’t know either.

Lin Qiu chuckled lightly. ”I heard from Fu Cheng that Mr. Lu vouched for him, handled the task for him.”

Lu Feng raised his eyebrows; Fu Cheng must have big ears to share such an important matter with Lin Qiu!

”You haven’t told anyone else, have you?” Fu Xiaoxiao asked Lin Qiu.

”No,” Lin Qiu naturally understood the seriousness of this matter, making her even more grateful to them.

”When we get married, we’ll surely give you a big gift. Without you, Fu Cheng and I wouldn’t have a future.” Lin Qiu formally bowed to thank Fu Xiaoxiao and Lu Feng.
