A '70s Flash Marriage: Raising Cubs, Making Millions

Chapter 132: Chapter 132: A Kiss of Commitment

Fu Xiaoxiao’s special qualities really surprised him when she boldly took the initiative at that time. He had never seen such a proactive woman, and she was even willing to accept conditions that would be extremely demanding for other women. He knew why she married him, as she had told him everything from the start, without hiding anything, not afraid of being laughed at by him.

This boldness was somewhat shocking in this era, but he was drawn to her, and by the time he realized it, she was already in his heart.

”You said I have many virtues.” Fu Xiaoxiao smiled warmly.

”You naturally have many shining qualities. Your cooking skills, your attentiveness, your respect, your cheerfulness—all these influence us.” Lu Feng said seriously.

”Before you came into this family, I didn’t know how to treat the two children. I took up this responsibility, but I didn’t know how to be a father.” Lu Feng raised his eyes to look at Fu Xiaoxiao. ”You should know my background. My only memory is that I was chasing something when suddenly everything went black. When I woke up, I found myself standing in the freezing snow, not knowing where my home was, not knowing where my family was.”

”Later, Uncle Liu, who was leading a mission, found me as he passed by and brought me back to the troop. Because they couldn’t find my family, they raised me under their care. But that wasn’t truly my home, and I wasn’t his son. When he was there, he could protect me, but when he wasn’t, those harsh words were like forcing me to recognize the truth that he wasn’t my father; he only raised me because of responsibility.”

It was the first time Fu Xiaoxiao heard Lu Feng’s thoughts, and she thought of his situation, how someone was constantly warning the child to recognize his place...

”Those people were too much. How could they treat you like that!” Fu Xiaoxiao looked at Lu Feng sorrowfully.

”It’s all in the past, and what they said wasn’t wrong. I indeed wasn’t his child.” Lu Feng shook his head and smiled at Fu Xiaoxiao, relieved.

”It’s not the same. Even if you weren’t his child, there’s no need to speak so harshly, as if you’d cling to their family.” Fu Xiaoxiao said angrily.

”They were surely worried my presence might affect their status.” Lu Feng was surprised at Fu Xiaoxiao’s sensitivity, but she wasn’t wrong.

Fu Xiaoxiao suddenly thought of someone.

”Is it Aunt Liu?” Fu Xiaoxiao asked definitively. ”Afraid you would take away Uncle Liu’s affection and their inheritance?”

”Sort of, afraid of him putting too much focus on me and forgetting his son. At that time, I won first place in the recruit competition and gained great fame. Uncle Liu had high hopes for me and naturally paid more attention to me.” Lu Feng chuckled and nodded.

”So when you had the ability to live independently, you immediately moved out of the Liu Family?” Fu Xiaoxiao recalled Liu Hongjun’s words, looking at Lu Feng.

That was also why he resolutely refused to live in the Liu Family, no matter how much Liu Hongjun tried to keep him there.

”You’re so smart that it scares me a bit.” Lu Feng laughed.

She guessed it exactly right.

”If it were me, I’d leave too. You have the ability; why bother staying there and listen to their nagging all the time, such people!” Fu Xiaoxiao snorted lightly. ”Next time when he invites us to their house for dinner, just decline, don’t go!”

Hearing Fu Xiaoxiao’s words, Lu Feng’s smile grew deeper.

”Uncle Liu doesn’t know about this, right?” Fu Xiaoxiao asked again.

”We actually have a mutual understanding in not letting Uncle Liu know.” Lu Feng nodded. He didn’t want to put Liu Hongjun in a difficult position, nor disrupt his family’s harmony.

She probably didn’t want Liu Hongjun to know her little thoughts either. After all, in front of Liu Hongjun, she is ’gentle’ and ’virtuous’.

”Now I know how to handle it.” Fu Xiaoxiao snorted lightly; two-faced, huh? This topic she’s familiar with.

”If you keep protecting me like this, I’ll really think you’re willing to accept me.” Lu Feng looked at Fu Xiaoxiao, standing up for him adorably, clenched his fists to stop himself from wanting to touch her.

”About that matter...” Fu Xiaoxiao raised her eyes to look at Lu Feng, blushed, and lowered her head, pondering how to tell him the results of her thoughts.

Lu Feng’s eyes dimmed, and he slightly opened his mouth as if wanting to say something but hesitated.

He didn’t want to put her in a difficult position, yet there was some expectation for her answer.

Finally, Fu Xiaoxiao took a deep breath, summoned the courage to look up at Lu Feng.

”Lu Feng...”

”Fu Xiaoxiao, I like you, very much, very much. Would you be with me?”

Before Fu Xiaoxiao could speak, Lu Feng first opened his mouth and confessed to her.

Fu Xiaoxiao paused, she was about to say she would try being with him, but Lu Feng unexpectedly formally confessed.

Being confessed to in such a formal manner, Fu Xiaoxiao’s cheeks instantly became boiling hot. She lowered her head, her fingers unconsciously tugging at the hem of her clothes, her heart filled with joy, yet she was too nervous to know how to respond.

After a moment, when Lu Feng had clenched his fists three times nervously, not knowing what to do, Fu Xiaoxiao gently nodded, her voice small like a mosquito.

”Okay.”

”If you find it difficult... uh, what did you say?” Lu Feng thought Fu Xiaoxiao hadn’t decided yet, blaming himself for rushing her, was just about to withdraw when Fu Xiaoxiao’s answer made his brain freeze.

”I said, okay.” This time, Fu Xiaoxiao replied, her voice much louder.

When Lu Feng heard this answer, a joyful light instantly blossomed in his eyes. He subconsciously reached out and lightly held Fu Xiaoxiao’s hand. Fu Xiaoxiao’s hand appeared small and soft in his large hand, quivering slightly in his palm.

Fu Xiaoxiao lifted her head and met Lu Feng’s gaze.

At this moment, everything around them disappeared, leaving only each other in their eyes.

Lu Feng’s gaze slowly moved downwards, fixating on Fu Xiaoxiao’s slightly reddened lips. His Adam’s apple rolled slightly, an uncontrollable impulse spreading from the depths of his heart.

Fu Xiaoxiao seemed to sense Lu Feng’s intention too, her breathing became rapid, her eyes fluttering nervously, her long eyelashes flickered like a startled butterfly.

Lu Feng slowly approached her, his movements gentle and slow, as if afraid of frightening her.

Fu Xiaoxiao’s heart leapt up to her throat, and she instinctively closed her eyes, her hands tightly clenching Lu Feng’s sleeves.

At this moment, it seemed as though the entire world quieted down, leaving only the quickened heartbeat sounds of the two.

When Lu Feng’s lips lightly touched Fu Xiaoxiao’s lips, Fu Xiaoxiao felt a surge of electricity from her lips spread throughout her body, her body instantly turning soft and weak. Her mind went blank, immersed in this unexpected sweetness.

Lu Feng’s kiss was gentle and cautious, like he was handling a precious treasure. He lightly sucked on Fu Xiaoxiao’s lips, and she unconsciously slightly parted her lips to respond to him.

When the two finally separated, both their cheeks were flushed, their eyes filled with bashfulness and affection.

Fu Xiaoxiao dared not meet Lu Feng’s eyes directly; she lowered her head, but the corners of her mouth couldn’t help but rise, revealing a happy smile.
