Chapter 2033: Chapter 2034: Adelaide

Angel had been suspicious of the mushroom growing on the lava island from the very beginning, so even while avoiding the tentacles’ attacks, he kept observing the mushroom’s emotional shifts.

Basically, the signals it released throughout were all violent, resentful, and a piercing wail of despair.

”It hurts, I’m in so much pain... It’s all your fault, I’m going to kill you, kill you all... you all deserve to die! Hahahaha, you all deserve to die!”

After these emotions cycled countless times, Angel was about to withdraw his observation, but at a certain moment, it suddenly transmitted a very strange signal.

Angel noticed that when this signal appeared, the island mushroom was not emitting any emotions, as if it was just a subconscious murmur.

This was already quite strange, and after Angel’s analysis, it became even stranger.

”Adelaide?”

Perhaps to creatures of the Nightmare Realm, this signal might seem meaningless, but for Angel, this seemingly unconscious mumbling represented a powerful witch renowned in the Southern Domain.

Adelaide, one of the permanent councilors of the Council of Truth, nicknamed ”The Black Duke”.

Angel didn’t believe that this mushroom would call out the name of the Black Duke Witch without reason. The only possibility was that this mushroom might be connected to Adelaide in some way.

With this line of reasoning, a conjecture immediately sprang to Angel’s mind that currently couldn’t be verified: Perhaps the mushroom harbored the human shackled by Mei Ying, and this human likely knew Adelaide!

Otherwise, it would be difficult to explain the mushroom transmitting a signal related to Adelaide.

Angel didn’t know why the mushroom was calling out Adelaide, whether it was an enemy or a lover, or something else. But it didn’t matter anymore; since this mushroom might conceal a controlled human, he was determined to seek an answer.

The mushroom’s tentacles continued to pursue him relentlessly, but this time, Angel no longer dodged towards the periphery; instead, he charged directly towards the center of the island.

Angel’s actions clearly enraged the island mushroom. Its plump body once again contracted, the spots on it became even more scarlet, and when it had gathered strength and expanded after contraction, a multitude of tentacles began to grow around the mushroom.

These tentacles, though not as thick as the original one, still carried high temperatures. Moreover, they wove together like a Phantom Limb into a net, both to prevent Angel from approaching the mushroom and to capture Angel in the process.

Angel was now caught in a situation of being attacked from both sides.

Behind him were terrifying explosion tentacles creating black mushroom clouds, while ahead of him were tentacles about to explode, woven into a net like a trap from which there was no escape above or below!

In such a scenario, it seemed as though Angel did not notice the ever-growing red, glowing net of tentacles ahead, showing no signs of slowing down, quickly flying towards the island mushroom.

In no time, Angel arrived directly in front of the tentacle net. The tentacles behind him were nearly upon him, barely twenty meters away.

Twenty meters was a mere instant for an explosive tentacle.

However, just as a tentacle was about to touch Angel, a door suddenly opened on Angel’s right front, he flashed through it, closing the door behind him.

As the door vanished instantly, the explosion tentacles faced the dense tentacle net directly in front...

BOOM BOOM BOOM——

Far surpassing the previous enormous explosion sounds, it reverberated throughout the entire magma lake area.

As a gigantic mushroom cloud rose, the once calm magma lake began to experience violently surging waves. A vast amount of magma surged upward, with the magma that rose into the sky turning into a rain of fiery red magma falling in all directions.

Fortunately, there were no other creatures here, and the magma rain to the mushroom forest’s mushrooms was like bathwater, causing no harm, instead becoming nourishment for the mushrooms.

The explosion continued for a minute, but the subsequent magma disaster showed no sign of stopping. Five minutes later, the smoke around the island in the center of the magma lake started to gradually disperse.

As the smoke cleared, the scene on the island was revealed.

The gigantic mushroom looked rather miserable at this time. Not only had the initial thick tentacle been blasted into two halves, collapsed on the ground, but the subsequent tentacle net woven by the mushroom had also torn open with a large hole, barely hanging on but unable to function effectively.

The formerly pristine mushroom cap stalk was now pitch black.

Perhaps even the mushroom itself didn’t expect that its most powerful offensive tactic would lead to its current miserable state.

The mushroom looked pitiful, while in contrast, Angel was completely unscathed.

He now stood on a red-hot mineral stone, facing the enormous mushroom. Angel closely observed the mushroom at close range, it indeed resembled Mei Ying significantly, but unfortunately, he didn’t find any traces of a human.

”Answer me, your name.” Angel said again in the Universal Language, receiving no reply, he expressed the same words using emotion.

However, the plump mushroom at this moment seemed somewhat stunned by the explosion, reacting very slowly. After a moment, it expressed a kind of emotion, and that emotion remained... anger, resentment, and a malice so dense it was almost tangible.

Once malice arose, incessant attacks followed.

Without tentacles, this mushroom still had other abilities, such as manipulating the magma incessantly falling from the cap’s edge, or for instance, the extreme fiery whirlwind around it.

These abilities, in fact, weren’t as potent offensively as the previous tentacles, perhaps tiring for another wizard to deal with, but for Angel, protected under layers upon layers of Phantom Limb armor, they hardly posed a threat.

As Angel casually retaliated, he continued to question the mushroom, hoping to gain some information from its emotional feedback.

But no matter how Angel questioned it, the mushroom remained irritable, its emotions constantly churning.

”Did I guess wrong, is it unrelated to humans? Or perhaps, it is the human, but its self-awareness has been digested by it?” Angel muttered, previously on the Mushroom Forum, they said this ”filthy creature” had reached its end stage, could they mean being digested by Mei Ying at the final stage?

Angel, somewhat unwilling, wondered if he’d truly come on a futile trip?

After some thought, he finally asked, ”Do you still remember Adelaide?”

When Angel asked this question, the mushroom’s aggressive actions noticeably hesitated for a moment.

Effective? Angel, without hesitation, continued, ”The Black Duke, Adelaide. Member of the City of Truth’s Council, a powerful witch of the Mysterious Side’s Dark Faction, one of the editors of the Forest of Time...”

With each piece of information Angel spoke, the mushroom’s movements became increasingly sluggish, and the signals it emitted began to gradually change.

But this change still hadn’t reached a usable level.

It merely kept murmuring, ”Adelaide.”

It seemed Adelaide was the only focus of its mind.
