Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 2021: Chapter 2022: Gathering in Crowds

The shattered Void Traveler seemed to have turned into countless gelatinous substances, spread around the narrow passage.

”Alas.” Ironclad Granny sighed, ”Void Travelers are not so easy to encounter, catching one alive is perfect for research.”

Rhein had encountered a Void Traveler before when he entered this passage. The fact that they managed to escape from Rhein’s watchful eyes shows how strong their escape abilities are. Such a rare void creature was captured alive, but unfortunately, Sanders crushed it.

In fact, Sanders labeling the Void Traveler as the ”source of disaster” is somewhat incorrect because aside from escaping, the Void Traveler is very weak, not causing any harm to apprentices, let alone Angel.

In the end, it was still the creature behind the wall that took Angel away. Whether this Void Traveler was instructed or was merely passing by is hard to say, and it’s also difficult to pin the blame as the source of disaster.

”Apart from running, this guy has no redeeming qualities. Dead is dead.” Sanders’ expression was very cold: ”Granny, can you sense the magical creature’s aura that took Angel before?”

Sanders clearly understood that the Void Traveler was not the true culprit, his killing of the Void Traveler was purely to vent. After venting his anger, his gaze returned to the wall.

Ironclad Granny reached out her hand to touch the stone wall, quietly closed her eyes, seemingly sensing something.

After a moment, Ironclad Granny opened her eyes: ”The wall behind is undetectable, likely due to the relic’s intrinsic properties. The only remaining aura around here is Angel’s, no other auras.”

”Granny, do you mean it wasn’t the breath of a living being?” Sanders had also sensed there was indeed no other aura, but there were slight energy fluctuations. This situation felt similar to the undead, yet the cold malevolence of the undead was not there. For this reason, Sanders asked Ironclad Granny for guidance.

”Perhaps, but it could also be some special race, or possibly a special ability...”

”A special race or special ability?” Sanders was about to inquire further when he saw Ironclad Granny suddenly freeze, her eyes looking across.

Sanders quickly turned around, seeing nothing unusual with the naked eye, but in the world of spiritual power, he found the Void Traveler he crushed unexpectedly reassembled, the scattered gelatin had now gathered into three lumps, which kept wriggling, and were about to merge again.

”Not dead yet?” It was Sanders’ first close encounter with a Void Traveler, completely unexpected that it could come back to life after being torn apart.

Sanders raised an eyebrow, extended his finger, and a ray of Nightmare Illusion started to gather. Clearly, he planned to kill the Void Traveler completely.

However, as Sanders was gathering energy, the three sneaky lumps of the Void Traveler’s ”remains” seemed to sense it, and the fusion accelerated, trying to quickly merge and escape.

Unfortunately, Sanders was faster than the fusion speed.

As a destructive spell technique covered the Void Traveler’s body, the outcome for the Void Traveler seemed inevitable.

However, Sanders frowned after releasing the spell technique.

Because in his perception, he didn’t attack anything.

When the smoke cleared, the revealed scene caused Sanders and Ironclad Granny to show a peculiar look in their eyes simultaneously.

The three lumps of the Void Traveler’s remains hadn’t merged, but three transparent Void Travelers appeared in the passage, seemingly companions of the previous Void Traveler, each with a lump of ”flesh” on top, standing in three directions of the passage.

Undoubtedly, the reason Sanders’ spell technique didn’t hit the Void Traveler was that it was saved by these three newcomers.

While they were gazing at each other, Ironclad Granny suddenly made a move.

The moment Ironclad Granny moved, Sanders followed suit. Though they didn’t know why more Void Travelers suddenly appeared, it was crucial to capture them now.

The previous Void Traveler was ”torn apart”, so it couldn’t use its ability to escape, but these newly appeared three were intact. Therefore, to catch them, they had to be taken by surprise.

However, both Ironclad Granny and Sanders’ speed was unmatched, and they acted completely unexpectedly, yet the Void Traveler’s speed far exceeded their imagination.

When they thought they could capture them, the three Void Travelers abruptly vanished from sight. Looking back, the three Void Travelers each carrying a lump of flesh, rushed into the wall, disappearing completely.

”They escaped.” Although Sanders’ voice was calm, his tone carried a hint of latent anger.

”Forget it, catching such extreme void creatures as the Void Traveler is too hard. I was already very surprised you caught one before.”

”The one that bumped into Angel probably knocked itself out.” For this reason, Sanders was able to easily bind it with spiritual power.

”Since they’ve escaped, let it go. But, come to think of it, why are there so many Void Travelers appearing here?” Ironclad Granny’s eyes flashed with doubt, last time Rhein entered and encountered a Void Traveler, why has it appeared again this time?

Creatures like Void Travelers are extremely, extremely rare. And because they’re weak, they don’t contact other creatures, and will flee upon sensing any living aura.

For this reason, the Wizard’s Realm has very few records on Void Travelers.

The void supplement in ”Where is the Magical Beast” has only a few lines on Void Travelers, and these records mostly used ”uncertain” statements, showing how little the Wizards’ Realm knows about Void Travelers.

Why do Void Travelers that are almost never seen, gather here in this relic?

Ironclad Granny couldn’t help but look at Sanders: ”Can you perceive the origins of these Void Travelers? Are they from the Nightmare Realm?”

If these Void Travelers are Magical Creatures from the Nightmare Realm, then their gathering makes a reasonable explanation.

By ”reasonable”, it refers to the fact that nothing in the Nightmare Realm is reasonable, so if the Void Travelers come from an entirely unreasonable world, their gathering is then reasonable.

Sanders did not immediately answer, but carefully recalled the feeling when he was holding that Void Traveler before.

After a while, Sanders shook his head with a frown, saying: ”They have almost no aura of the Nightmare Realm on them.”

”So, they’re not Magical Creatures from the Nightmare Realm?” Ironclad Granny was stunned, thinking she had uncovered the truth, but now it seems the truth took another twist?

”Probably not.” Sanders wasn’t sure either, but every Nightmare Realm Demon he encountered, even those existing in the real world like the flying skull monster, Maneater Flower... they all bore the aura of the Nightmare Realm. Whether there are exceptions, Sanders couldn’t be certain, but those Void Travelers indeed lacked any Nightmare Realm aura, suggesting they likely didn’t come from there.

”If they didn’t come from the Nightmare Realm, their gathering here seems odd? Or is there something here attracting them?”

Moreover, knowing now that they didn’t come from the Nightmare Realm, they shouldn’t be controlled by Nightmare Realm beings, and the previous encounter with Angel was likely a mere accident...
