Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1539: Section 1540: A Day of Vannerson Chapter 1539: Section 1540: A Day of Vannerson This was destined to be a noisy summer night.

Because of the start of the New Star Tournament, the lively atmosphere extended from the main city area to the opposite side of the city.

Normally academic and relatively quiet, the opposite side of the city could now also hear discussions about the dayʼs matches.

As Vannerson walked along, the discussions he overheard were mostly about the New Star Tournament. Even though Vannerson didnʼt go to watch at the Infinite Battle Tower, he caught bits and pieces of the dayʼs matches through the whispers of the night wind.

For instance, advancements like the Cat Lamp Witch of the House of Lilith, the stunning debut of Ms. Monica, the prodigy of Sky Mechanical City being defeated by the porcelain doll, and the emergence of two dark horses from Shaloo Ridge as they first stepped into Flourish Continent–the shadow swan Si Man and the still very mysterious Dong Liz, who always wears a hat and smirks…

Although most of what Vannerson heard were about witches, in reality, female competitors in the New Star Tournament are relatively few, which is why the discussions focused on those few witches.

Of course, there were male competitors being discussed as well, but even if Vannerson heard them, he simply let it pass by like the wind.

Besides the intense discussions about the New Star Tournament, another popular topic Vannerson heard all along the way was about Angel starting his classes, which makes sense since most people in the opposite city district were studying at Ashiliye and were naturally interested in Angelʼs classes.

However, listening to the discussions carried by the wind, Vannerson occasionally shook his head.

This time, Angelʼs class could only accommodate fifty people, with more than half of the spots arranged by higher-ups through connections, leaving very few slots available, thus hardly any apprentices had the chance to attend the class.

However, the most enthusiastic discussions were among the Alchemy Apprentices. They had no idea what Angel was actually teaching; they had only heard snippets and bits of gossip, which led them to fabricate a series of “exciting stories”–naturally causing Vannerson, who attended Angelʼs class, to shake his head and sigh.

The discussions were all wrong, and due to human nature, people love to see those exalted figures fall from grace, so the negative information was even more exaggerated.

However, these people never considered that in the Wizardsʼ Realm, it is impossible to ascend to the heights with false strengths. So the massacre they were hoping for is hard to come by.

Of course, there are definitely quite a few who worship Angel, but their discussions are also different from the actual situation.

As Vannerson walked, he never corrected these discussions that were almost rumors, because in the transcendent world, fact is fact, and the cost of spreading rumors is much higher than the cost of discovering the truth. In a few days, the truth about what happened in Angelʼs class will spread, and the rumors will naturally collapse.

After about half an hour of reluctantly listening to most of the gossip that happened that day, Vannerson finally reached his destination.

A very simple wooden house.

Simple, was rather a beautified word. Describing it as “crude” might be more accurate.

Through the wooden house window, a faint light was visible, and smoke rose gently from the chimney. Although crude, surrounded by a forest of steel, the house inexplicably felt warm.

Just then, the door of the wooden house was pushed open, and a little boy wrapped in animal skin slowly came out and approached Vannerson.

“Mr. Vannerson, Grandfather Midora invites you in.”

Vannerson nodded; the place he was headed to was Midoraʼs residence–the Magic Potion Hut.

And the little one in front of him was Tugan, who lived with Midora.

However, Tugan seemed to be in a down mood today, walking with his head down all the way, his mouth unconsciously pouting as if he was full of grievances.

Vannerson, curious, asked Tugan the reason.

Tugan sniffled, picked up the Doodoo at his feet, rubbed its fur, and without saying a word, walked to a corner of the room and squatted down like a gloomy mushroom.

“Donʼt mind him. Isnʼt it just that Princess Shan got eliminated? Heʼs been sulking for almost two days, acting as if his grandfather had died.”

The speaker was Midora, who was sitting on the sofa. However, after Midora finished cursing, Tugan silently looked at him and in a milky voice, called out, “Grandfather.”

Midora was momentarily stunned and didnʼt react initially, but when he saw Vannerson trying to suppress a laugh, Midora, infuriated, stood up, ready to teach the increasingly cheeky boy a lesson.

However, at that moment, the kitchen door was pushed open, and a stout auntie holding a long ladle coldly glared at Midora, which made him instantly cower. Although he had just stood up, he sat back down again.

“Madam Yeliya,” Vannerson respectfully greeted the person coming in, not only because Yeliya was Midoraʼs wife, but also because Yeliya herself was a Transcendent Witch elder.

Yeliya turned her head towards Vannerson, her expression immediately transforming from the harsh chill of winter to the warming sun of a summer day, smiling warmly and kindly, “Ah, Vannerson, youʼve come at the right time, we are just preparing dinner using Transcendent ingredients, you should try it later.”

Vannerson nodded appreciatively in response, and Yeliya turned her head to silently warn Midora again, before heading back into the kitchen to continue cooking. As she entered the kitchen, she also dragged Tugan in, and soon after, the sound of Tuganʼs sobbing echoed from the kitchen…

Vannerson caught the previous mention by Midora that “we” are preparing dinner, suggesting there might be someone else in the Magic Potion House.

When the kitchen door opened a moment ago, Vannerson also thought he saw a shadow busily moving inside.

He wondered who it could be?

Although curious, Vannerson didnʼt dare to snoop around carelessly in Midoraʼs home and could only suppress his curiosity, turning his attention to Midora seated across from him.

“I called you here to ask about how your potion refining is progressing?” Midora asked.

That time Midora met Vannerson just when he had come out of seclusion, and at that moment, Vannerson proudly presented his potion ideas but was met with disappointment. He had begun on the wrong path from his initial intention of potion making, and Midora gave him some advice–whether Vannerson took it, Midora was uncertain.

“I have already started improving it.” Mentioning the bloodline soothing potion, Vannerson felt a bit embarrassed: “Replacing the Witchʼs Soup was indeed not a good idea; I am now committed to improving its effects by itself…”

As Vannerson started to talk about the potions, he became verbose.

His opinions, while still somewhat overly dogmatic and overly focused on the Reformist School to the neglect of other Potionology schools, Midora was generally satisfied.

After all, Vannerson was a steadfast vanguard of the Reformist School, and changing his concepts quickly wouldnʼt be easy.

For this promising junior, Midora did not hesitate to provide guidance and also gave his own opinions.

“… After using the Rainbow Reed Pipe as a filter, youʼll then need to consider the tranquil reaction in the filtered liquid. If you want to improve this potion and use a thinner filter, then the tranquil reaction must be managed. Do you have any ideas for handling the tranquil reaction?”

When discussing the final steps of improving the potion, Midora referred to a crucial aspect–the tranquil reaction. Other potions could ignore the tranquil reaction, but in this new, experimental potion, the variances brought by the tranquil reaction were crucial.

Mentioning the tranquil reaction, Vannerson subconsciously nodded, “Thatʼs right, today Master Patʼs class was about the tranquil reaction.”

Midora was initially taken aback, noting that Vannerson willingly used the honorific for Angel, understanding what it implied.

Midora was also surprised that Angel could get Vannerson to concede so quickly.

“How did Angel explain it?” Midora curiously asked.

Vannerson relayed all the solutions Angel had provided during the class. Upon hearing them, Midora repeatedly nodded, “Thatʼs correct, his solutions are accurate and comprehensively considered, very complete.”

Which meant Vannerson could completely follow Angelʼs advice for managing the tranquil reaction in the improved potion.

This made Vannerson feel even more fortunate that he grabbed the opportunity to attend Angelʼs class–it was his luckiest moment in recent years.

After discussing Vannersonʼs potions, Midora curiously asked, “By the way, what exactly did Angel cover in his class today that he mentioned the tranquil reaction?”

Midora had called Vannerson over today not only to discuss potions but also to gather some insights from this valued junior about Angelʼs teachings.

Since Vannerson had brought up Angelʼs class, Midora naturally followed up with more curiosity.
