Reborn As An Interstellar Giant Mosquito

Chapter 1651: Chapter 17: Gamma Ray Strike

It turned out that not far from the Country of Taia, a terrifying gamma ray capable of threatening the entire Taia system suddenly appeared.

In the universe, gamma rays, electromagnetic waves, and various types of radiation are extremely abundant, among which the horror of gamma rays is the most frightening.

Many gamma rays are emitted by massive celestial bodies or caused by self-detonations.

The power of a strong gamma ray, sweeping across, is equivalent to the total energy released by the sun in its entire lifetime.

Powerful gamma rays are said to be everywhere in the universe; even the strong ones must evade them, or else they’ll suffer serious consequences even if they survive.

Of course, gamma rays don’t linger and wreak havoc in a galaxy, they just sweep through in an instant.

This time, the Country of Taia encountered a gamma ray force that was comparable to tens of thousands of times the heat of a true star.

”Lord Jia Yan, although this gamma ray isn’t considered strong, our nation needs to prepare well. The previous constructions definitely cannot continue, and we might have to abandon many national buildings and space constructions due to this disaster.”

Kama approached Jia Yan, seeking his forgiveness.

There’s no choice, encountering gamma rays, being able to move without urgency is considered fairly lucky, and this gamma ray, though not very strong, will certainly cause extremely frightening economic and property damage to the Country of Taia.

”There’s nothing we can do. Since there’s no way to avoid it, we’ll just have to wait it out until it passes.”

Jia Yan felt helpless; he had no means to counter gamma rays, and even if his true body achieved stellar status, there would still be very little he could do to change the direction of a gamma ray’s strike.

This scene made Jia Yan realize that the universe is still the universe, and no matter how powerful a creature becomes, they are still as insignificant as a speck of dust in the vast, almost boundless universe.

The entire Country of Taia went into a full alert state.

Not long after, that gamma ray completely struck.

In fact, gamma rays, although called rays, are better described as terrifying energy, imagine it like a giant cannon that can enclose the entire Earth within it, with a central heat and radiation so astounding that it can reach thousands or even tens of thousands of degrees in temperature.

If it sweeps across, an ordinary civilized planet would surely have its entire biosphere exterminated.

From afar in the distant sky, an astonishing force directly assaulted the principal star, Taya Star, of the Country of Taia.

Then the entire planet activated its most powerful protective shield, with ripples continually spreading outside the shield.

This is the ability of a strong technological civilization; although they do not have too strong of a resistance in the face of strong ones, they can display extremely frightening technological prowess when confronting similar astronomical disasters.

And Jia Yan stood in mid-air above Taya Star, watching the gamma ray strike from outside.

His current avatar, although not unafraid of this gamma ray, possesses space talent, a cheat-like ability, allowing him to hide in subspace before a similar astronomical disaster arrives.

”Terrifying.”

Watching the gamma ray strike the whole planet’s protective shield, causing horrifying ripples, Jia Yan’s heart thumped wildly.

”Such terrifying power, if absorbed by a strong one, could possibly reach star level instantly, and this gamma ray is still the weakest kind. Those caused by large star explosions might almost directly destroy Taya Star. Facing such a terrifying force, perhaps even a Star River level existence would have to retreat cautiously.”

The power of the gamma ray comes quickly and goes quickly; in less than a second, it swept across Taya Star and then went far away.

”In less than a second, it almost caused great economic damage. Even the starry sky is now filled with a lot of radiation, inundated with energy that damages biological structures.”

Jia Yan shook his head, looking at the starry sky outside Taya Star.

”My lord, the losses this time are too great. I think future work will come to a halt for a while, and even some of our research institutions in the Country of Taia need to be rebuilt.”

Kama approached Jia Yan with a wry smile.

”It’s alright, take it slow if we must; I’m not in a hurry, but this radiation...”

In Jia Yan’s avatar’s eyes, there was a hint of surprise, gazing into space.

Soon after, he boarded a small battleship from the Country of Taia and went into space.

In this space, filled with almost a burst of radiation, Jia Yan could feel the high temperature since the gamma ray had only just passed.

The battleship stayed in a certain space, then the hatch opened, and Jia Yan flew out from the isolation cabin.

This battleship, having arrived in a highly radioactive area, would surely need to undergo stringent radiation-clearing measures upon returning before the ordinary people of the Country of Taia can come in contact with it.

However, Jia Yan did not concern himself with this issue; instead, upon reaching the universe, he abruptly felt discomfort in his body.

Even though this avatar has reached the brainwave power of the Venerable level, and its actual combat power surpasses that of a typical Semi-permanent star level, at this moment it still feels like its body is being quickly destroyed by the high-temperature power.

”If it were an ordinary biological constitution, it’s not just the high temperature, even the radiation alone could disrupt their bodily functions, leading to mutations.”

Jia Yan sensed the changes around him and then appeared even more bewildered. He extended his finger.

Then at his fingertip, a space seemed to condense and form.

Subspace, under Jia Yan’s manipulation, actually started to undergo a slight mutation.

Jia Yan could tell that this was the power of the domain he could master after his promotion to the Stellar level.

However, this power is still very weak now. The fact that Jia Yan can use it to condense the surrounding radiation power is already an extremely astonishing feat.

Then Jia Yan felt a small energy material condensing at his fingertip.

Inside there was a large amount of radiation energy, along with traces of interstellar material.

”So this radiation residue has such pure energy...”

Jia Yan gazed at the material in front of him, and his eyes lit up entirely.

Subsequently, in the radiation-filled starry sky, various ships from Taya Star’s cleanup operation flew out, each extremely puzzled when they saw the avatar of the rumored greatly terrifying ’Jia Yan,’ actually busy inside and outside the starry sky just like them.

The Jia Yan avatar kept collecting radiation energy wherever he could find it, then used his space talent to wrap it and place it within the subspace.

Although the loss in this process was substantial, for Jia Yan this was a dull task anyway, it was just that he sensed the residue had high energy and always felt it could be useful, so he collected them.

With his help, the already efficient Taya nation managed to eliminate the hidden dangers in the starry sky within just a few days.

The occurrence of being blasted by cosmic energy is not considered a rare event in major civilizations; every few decades, one or two unlucky civilizations in the Northern Star Domain are bound to be struck once or twice.

So everyone didn’t take it too seriously. This energy in the universe is like a rogue assassin that cannot be entirely defended against.

Soon, the Taya nation recovered from its tension. Although the cleanup work was far from complete, production and life continued again.

After all, for the whole nation, no one wishes to see such situations occur. Regardless of how harsh the working environment may be in the aftermath, they can only brace themselves, because life must go on, right?

Jia Yan, while observing their recovery, also watched Kama, the Empress. She continually conducted visits in heavily affected areas, offering special comfort to certain severely afflicted regions where they couldn’t activate defenses, and the people couldn’t evacuate.

”This is like in the old days of Earth, where leaders visited heavily affected areas. Kama even personally went to places that might have radiation threats for visits, which makes her a very responsible Empress indeed.”

Jia Yan felt admiration for Kama’s actions.

However, he soon diverted his attention back to the ’Star Gate Construction’ project, which was quickly resuming.

Having suffered such a blow, the entire country of Taia was almost like adding insult to injury. Many infrastructure projects domestically could no longer reopen, plus the external environment was not optimistic. After all, the deterrent power of Jia Yan was his alone, while the position of Taia in the Northern Star Domain was relatively unpopular.

Compensation can be made, but trying to trade? The reasons for refusal can be numerous!

And the biggest hope for Taia in tackling this crisis was to fully initiate the construction of the star gate.

Just like Jia Yan mentioned, if the star gate is completed, then the other side will be a new world far larger than the Northern Star Domain, where resources and the economy could experience significant relief.

Jia Yan didn’t expect that a single attack by gamma rays would make Taia put so much emphasis on the star gate plan.

However, the accelerated progress was only good news for him.

”Alright, now let me study what these energies can be used for. Or perhaps let the scientists in Taia think about it for me, though they are already busy, I feel it’s not great to bother them...”

”I really miss the days when Adisa was by my side, though it’s soon. Adisa seems to be around a thousand light-years away and should reach Taia in a few months.”

Jia Yan shook his head helplessly as he stepped into subspace.

Subspace, which for any creature is nearly a place of extreme danger, is for Jia Yan now almost another safe haven for long-term survival.

He had just stepped into subspace when he saw the immense superfast battleship docked within.

And in the expanse of space surrounding the huge battleship, there were space balls the size of human palms; these were objects created by Jia Yan using his newfound space power to encapsulate radiation within a space ball.

”Since they are energy, there must be a way to use them. Of course, I don’t think they can be devoured. Although Evolutionary Creatures can consume almost any energy, I don’t know what impact swallowing such wildly violent energy will have on a biological form.”

Jia Yan examined each energy ball closely.
