Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4251  Biding Time

The Venerable Hollow Knightʼs breathing turned normal, ”You can only mock me for so long. Letʼs see how you maintain this facade when all of us gather.”

”Thatʼs really unfair.” Davis frowned, ”You guys wonʼt take me on one-on-one?”

”This is not a martial battle or a competition. We are here to end you, and we will do it at all costs. Our reputation matters not when facing a Divergent, much less an Anarchic Divergent.”

”Unfair enough.” Davis nodded, ”Whatʼs your name?”

The Venerable Hollow Knight paused for a second, ”Now that youʼre here, thereʼs nowhere for you to run. The Covenant keeps you here in this realm, so even if you escaped, our entire force will be here and scour the realm easily. Finding you will be easier than finding your allies who helped you in the Obsidian Crystal Turtle Minor Realm. Now, if you got to say anything about them, nowʼs your time. Weʼll seal you without having to experience pain.”

”…” Davis finished the tea cup and placed it on the table.

He heaved a breath and smiled, ”What makes you think the Covenant is still active?”

”…”

The Venerable Hollow Knight narrowed his eyes. But a second later, his expression turned normal, ”A good move to try and rattle us, but it wonʼt work. The Covenant you are forced to accept is created by the Celestial Transcendent. Thereʼs not a single chance a mere Immortal Emperor like you can break it, and I would say the same to your Mystic Diviner ally.”

There was extreme pride when he said the last part, causing Davis to smile even more.

”You Heavenʼs Warriors truly do look up to the Celestial Transcendent as your idol.”

”You wonʼt understand.” The Venerable Hollow Knight raised his chin, ”That person has faced many more challenges and horrors than a single Divine Emperor of Death. The higher entities in the other galaxies are much more terrifying than you for us to be worried about you to death. If it werenʼt for the organization treating you as one of the biggest threats to this Galaxyʼs Lower Realms, then we wouldnʼt have sent our avatars. Our time is much more important.”

Davis chuckled, ”Donʼt you think your organization made a good call? I mean, I really am a significant threat, no? You all couldnʼt find me for so many months, and it wouldʼve continued to be like that for many years until I revealed myself.”

The Venerable Hollow Knight cast him a look of amusement, ”It isnʼt even a year since we arrived. Our Anarchic Divergent hunts can last for tens and thousands of years. It is not a big thing for you to have escaped our gaze for a mere year.”

”I see.” Davis nearly scoffed at that downplaying, but he could understand that they feared his potential more than his current self.

After all, his current achievements were due to the black-white stone in their perspective. The Divine Emperor of Death ʼjustʼ had a treasure that allowed him to be a peak expert in the Lower Realms, but in the Upper Realms, he was nothing but trash waiting to be crushed at the hand of Exalts and Primarchs- was the conclusion they probably arrived at.

This made Davis remember, ”So the Venerable Knightsʼ main task right now is to hunt the Heavenly Blight Hall in the Upper Realms.”

”Thatʼs right.” The Venerable Hollow Knight nodded, ”They pose much more of a threat than you right now. Maybe if you enter the Empyrean Stage in terms of threat, you may reach their level, but I doubt you could, considering the cultivation challenges you face with your subpar cultivation methods.”

”Excuse me?” Davis narrowed his brows, looking offended.

”There are too many different types of energy, mostly destructive ones. Youʼre asking yourself to be extinguished, which I am grateful for, but- if it werenʼt for life energy and your perpetual soul that apparently never dies, I doubt you could survive.”

The Venerable Hollow Knightʼs voice was full of disapproval.

Davis glared at the Venerable Hollow Knight, but neither of them started a fight.

By this time, hundreds and thousands of Heavenʼs Warriors arrived and sealed the area. Vast arrays were stabbed onto the ground affixed into the space, forming a heaven-encompassing barrier that would not allow the Divine Emperor of Death to escape.

Three more Venerable Knights also arrived as the Divine Emperor of Death from three corners.

More were arriving each second, becoming more and more dangerous for the Divine Emperor of Death.

”Well,”

Davis smiled as he sat down, ”Yes, itʼs exactly as you say. It is very difficult for me to juggle all my cultivation systems and the different types of energy I practice. I may screw it in the end or become the strongest, donʼt you think so?”

The Venerable Hollow Knight coldly smiled, ”Your arrogance will be your undoing. Do you not know how many cultivators thought better of themselves and died a gruesome death by trying to practice two destructive energies, much less three, and you try this just for your Essence Gathering Cultivation?”

”There will be a time, even if we did nothing, you will meet your own demise due to your arrogance, but like the many Divergent Physiques out there that go out and cause calamities, we simply cannot allow you to grow. Even now, youʼre thinking youʼre buying time for something weʼre unaware of, but the reality is that youʼre going to be sealed, and itʼs too late to leave.”

He stood up as more Venerable Knights arrived.

By this time, there were seven Venerable Knights gathered in total.

The Venerable Hollow Knight stretched his hand, his palm heading towards Davisʼs head.

Davis flicked his hand, intending to slap the Venerable Hollow Knightʼs hand, but it phased through it, making him raise his brows. The imposing hand of the Venerable Hollow Knight continued to reach out in a calm manner, causing Davis to stand up and take two steps back.

”Woah- letʼs wait for the last two Venerable Knights. I donʼt want to let you all escape, you know.”

”Arrogant Divergent, die!”

Abruptly, a flaming lion appeared beside Davis, and a terrifying raging fist approached him right toward his face, its undulations brimming at the near peak of the Third Layer.
