Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 3621  The Dread of The Last Three Steps

”…!”

While everyone looked at them in awe, Evelynn, Isabella, and Shirley were experiencing the danger of the sixth step.

The air seemed to thicken, causing goosebumps to appear on their skin. Their hearts pounded in their chests, a steady drumbeat of apprehension echoing through their bodies and creeping toward their souls.

Even breathing became a bit strained right now, but when they looked at Fairy Thunderblaze standing on the eighth step shivering, they knew she was waiting for them while experiencing a greater sense of fear than them.

With their gazes forward, they arched their legs and leaped again, landing on the seventh step, where the only person other than them was Atsuo.

He looked at them with visible shock, not expecting women to cross this step at all as he knew how frightful the seventh step was. Even now, his heart didnʼt stop beating erratically, making him perspire. He glanced at their joined hands and wondered if, by joining powers, they might greatly lessen the impact of fear.

The others began to wonder the same thing. Their advancement was too fast. It was like they were advancing without facing any fears. Of course, it would also be possible for them to do the same thing, but the renewed sense of danger would always make them rethink their decision.

It would have been better to stop and think, but these beauties moved every three seconds. This also made them wonder if they would be daring enough to hold the three-second rule for the eighth step!

”…”

Davis was also shocked by this time.

ʼCould it be theyʼre planning to fully cross the steps…? No way…ʼ

Needless to say, that was very foolish as all of them would have their cultivation base sealed, and that wasnʼt even the problem as the ninth stepʼs seal was unknown. The eighth step already brought them down to Level One Immortal King Stage, so what does the ninth step do!?

Evelynn, Isabella, and Shirley clenched their teeth as they stood firm on the seventh step.

Their hearts pounded in their bosoms, the fear intensifying with each breath. The staircase above them now felt like it stretched endlessly, with countless dangers placed between them. The dense air around them crackled with a strange atmosphere, sending sparks of fear coursing through their veins as it pricked them.

Doubt gnawed at the edge of their minds.

Should they continue to move ahead or give up?

While Davis and the others were watching them, Evelynn, Isabella and Shirley adhered to their three second rule and raised their legs, leaping forward to the eighth step!

”No fucking way…”

Atsuo looked moved his head as he watched them leap past him. It hurt his pride as a man when four women managed to go up. Of course, he also had the confidence to go up but it seemed stupid enough that the action of moving up seemed no different than courting death!

Evelynn, Isabella, and Shirley firmly landed on the eighth step.

At that moment, their bodies were severely shaking. Shirley even wobbled. Her legs appeared like they were going to give up and go limp as she shook heavily like a scared kitten.

In their vision, everything turned narrow. They felt claustrophobic, their breath caught in their throats. The staircase that was endless turned narrow in their eyes yet it was narrow enough to crush them that it induced extreme fear in their hearts. It clawed in their minds and invaded their souls, making them shudder like little girls.

Fairy Thunderblaze turned to look and grinned at them, yet she was also shivering, still experiencing the fear trying to overwhelm her.

”To climb here after knowing that it would seal your cultivation to the Level One Immortal King Stage, are you stupid or brave?”

She asked them with derision clear in her voice as though she wouldnʼt have made such a decision if she knew it would cause her cultivation to be sealed beforehand.

”Ah~”

Shirleyʼs legs gave out at this moment.

She knelt on the eighth step, her cheeks reddening in utter embarrassment. When she turned to look, she saw that her third sister and big sister were still standing, although they still looked like they were still shaking in their shoes.

However, the fear overwhelmed her heart and couldnʼt be stopped. Her pupils were dilated, and she seemed like she was going to faint anytime.

”I… I apologize, big sisters… I donʼt think I can move anymore…”

Shirley spoke with difficulty. She felt like she needed some help to even move to the left or right wing to end her staircase journey. However, Evelynn didnʼt let go of her hand, making her feel even more shameful.

She wondered what kind of face Davis was making right now. Was he disappointed?

”Hey, kid, let us see whatʼs on the other end.”

But at this moment, a loud voice resounded, causing her to regain some sanity as she looked ahead.

The Immortal Dreams Palaceʼs projection switched to Davis and his amused expression. It didnʼt look like he was disappointed. Instead, he seemed to be looking at Yi Feng.

”What…? Why should I do… such a thing…?”

Yi Feng trembled ever so lightly as he took a step back. He placed his hand on his throat, appearing to have some trauma over being caught by the neck, and threatened to be soul-scoured.

”If you do so, I promise our power will take care of your family if they were to ever ascend. Also, the Candidacy is being broadcast to the entire First Haven World, and that includes the mini realm you are from. Are you sure you want to disappoint your father and mother by crying all day long?”

”…!”

Yi Fengʼs eyes widened as he heard the Divine Emperor of Deathʼs reasoning.

His father and mother were watching…?

He shuddered. Instantly, he turned to look at the spatial vortex at the altar, appearing to gather some courage.

He turned to look at the Immortal Dreams Palace to look at his own pathetic figure, causing him to stand straight and glare.

”Imperial father. Imperial mother. Watch as your son becomes a peak cultivator and rules the world!”

He uttered some childish fantasy, waving his hand before he stormed towards the spatial vortex. Without stopping, he arrived at the altar and dashed into the spatial vortex.

Everyone watched with shock on their faces.

Did this naive brat just fall for a sweet deal and made himself a sacrifice? No one knew what was on the other side. He could be crushed by some trap for all they knew.

”So evil…!”

Some glared at Davis for taking advantage of a child, but he remained guilt-free as he smiled.

”I see. Entering the spatial vortex marks the end of the first trial for the inheritor.”

After his words dropped, many were confused, but a second later, they started noticing that the rankings had changed for the first time.

[

Ranking:

1st place: Yi Feng - 5

]

Their eyes widened in shock.

The number of stairs they climbed denoted how much their cultivation would decrease but also marked the number of points earned?

Instantly, their expressions turned unsightly, leaving them no choice but to climb higher. However, the danger was also equally high, as those who remained in the first step could easily kill them.

Then again, it also begged the question: how many points were they supposed to earn to win the Candidacy!?
