Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 1165 Escaped?

Davis was absolutely flabbergasted by this undergrown adult of a magical beast when he heard its cry.

Or... Did it grow too soon from consuming a lot of resources and was still a juvenile in terms of mentality and age?

He couldnʼt tell... but all he knew was that it needed to die.

Not only did it target Sophie Alstreim, but it also destroyed his left arm.

ʼOkay, who am I kidding? I just need its soul essence...ʼ

Hehem... It was all three reasons.

In any case, noticing that only a battle of gaze and intimidation was brewing at the black mountain range, Davis concentrated his gaze on Sophie Alstreim and saw that a dark barrier protected her. He inwardly felt that he had to praise Nadia for this as he hadnʼt instructed her anything.

She was such an empathetic and understanding magical beast that she was beginning to understand how he did things.

He smirked and returned his gaze back to the crybaby tortoise that was still roaring for its mamaʼs help.

Davis couldnʼt understand. Didnʼt it possess the brain or the instincts to flip him off from its shell by spinning like a saucer? Perhaps, it can even use the force of the spinning to attack him...

For a tortoise with immense speed and power, it should be possible, right?

Or was it unable to do it because it was an earth-attribute tortoise? Or only turtles were capable of it?

Heck, he didnʼt even know why it didnʼt use its ten-meter long tail to squash him!

He didnʼt know, nor was he interested in finding out as he had finished testing his strength. It was time to kill!

It only took him a second to think all of this before he continued to attack.

However, the inner blue shell seemed to heal quickly. He had noticed this point from a while ago already. Otherwise, with his barrage of fist and kicks filled with the might of the Domineering Earth Dragon Arts, he wouldʼve already ended the Twin-Shelled Earthen Tortoiseʼs life. Nevertheless, a King Beast Stage Magical Beastʼs vitality was brimming with life as to be expected. No matter how he injured it, it kept recovering at an insane speed as if it were an immortal beast.

Unless he could sever a limb or two, he was of the assumption that he could never kill it. Moreover, he was aware that the only reason he could topple it under him and relentlessly pummel it was because it was probably a scaredy-tortoise, not daring to retaliate after being beaten black and blue right on its face.

Davis had never met a scared King Beast Stage Magical Beast in his life!

*Boom!~*

*Boom!~*

*Boom!~*

While he was making considerable progress in cracking its shell with his intimidating attacks, the tortoise was unable to do anything as he hid in its blind spot. As a form of retaliation, it could only create an earthen barrier over its shell, which was quickly shattered by Davisʼs hardened scale fist that unleashed an energy-conservative version of Earth Dragon Shatters the Earth.

”Mama!!! Iʼm going to die!!! Kill this human before I die!~~~.”

It kept screaming, disturbing Davis. He felt a bit of compassion at its pitiful voice as he felt that it could be a juvenile, but he also knew that it refused to bend its pride and radiated killing intent against him. It was clear as it even voiced out its thoughts without any falsehood, hoping that its mother would come and help.

”Dark Wolf, why do you serve this human!? Just move aside!” The mother, the monstrous Twin-Shelled Earthen Tortoise, seemed to no longer capable of enduring its descendantʼs cries. Its voice also contained a bit of imploring.

”None of your concern...” Nadia coldly uttered, ”Donʼt make me say it thrice, scram!”

The monstrous Twin-Shelled Earthen Tortoiseʼs thirty-five-meter tall body shook before it could no longer take it, ”You are a disgrace to us magical beasts! How dare you serve a human while youʼre at the King-Tier!? Donʼt you feel any shame!?”

Nadiaʼs eyes narrowed, her golden pupils becoming frigid before it relaxed.

”There is no shame when I searched for it in my heart... What is this shame you speak of?”

”You!?” The monstrous Twin-Shelled Earthen Tortoise became taken aback.

Nadia disappeared from the place she hovered, causing the monstrous Twin-Shelled Earthen Tortoiseʼs blue pupils to dilate. It looked towards the side and saw that a dark energy wave abruptly appeared from her right, threatening to sever her neck.

Her head instantly shrunk, the dark wave of energy hitting her tough scale armor on her forehead. It created a giant gash that extended from her forehead to the side of her eye, causing blood to spurt from her face while her head and her limbs successfully retreated into the shell.

But even then, the darkness stuck to her skin and began to corrode, causing her to open her mouth agape.

”Ahhhh!!~~ It hurts!!”

Nadia heard a muffled scream of pain. She was about to attack again when the twelve-meter long tail struck the empty air causing its shell to fly towards Davis and its son at a blinding speed!

Davisʼs eyes widened at this moment before he shot off to the distance with a stomp of his foot, breaking the inner blue shell into pieces while also injuring its flesh and giving it internal injuries.

The crybaby Twin-Shelled Earthen Tortoise spat out a mouthful of blood before a tortoise landed beside it, its head popping out as it searched for the human on its sonʼs shell, but witnessing that there was no one, it quickly covered it with its energy and took off into the distance,

Nadia abruptly appeared beside them, wanting to attack, when she suddenly stopped, letting them go.

The two Twin-Shelled Earthen Tortoises were directly flying over Sophie Alstreimʼs head, essentially making her a collateral liability. However, the monstrous Twin-Shelled Earthen Tortoise did nothing, seemingly just warning that it would attack if it should be attacked.

Sophie Alstreim tried to move out of the way, but she felt as if she were locked in her place, making her unable to move.

Just after the monstrous Twin-Shelled Earthen Tortoise passed by Sophie Alstreimʼs head, gaining distance, Nadia continued to pursue before she stopped again, looking at her master with a bit of helplessness. They had taken a turn and went to the other side of the black mountain range with immense speed.

It was unknown how many magical beasts would be waiting for them if they were to head into the region.

”Itʼs fine, let them go...”

Davis appeared near Nadia and caressed her soft dark fur over her head.

Nadia whimpered before she slightly nodded.

A while ago, Davisʼs eyes flashed red as he saw those two tortoiseʼs names and their lifespan just before they headed towards the other side.

That crybabyʼs life was long, meaning that it didnʼt get killed by him.

He didnʼt even use Fallen Heaven in this fight, and that meant the crybaby Twin-Shelled Earthen Tortoise wouldʼve eventually escaped this fight.

Or was it forgiven by him after a turn of events? Or was he chased by a group of Eighth Stage Magical Beasts from the other side?

Even if he possessed Fallen Heaven, he would have to pay a steep price to kill all those Eighth Stage Magical Beasts with his current Soul Forging Cultivation.

Nevertheless, he did think that if he decided to use his soul force while battling, would the crybabyʼs lifespan experience a change, becoming so short that it could only be mentioned with a dayʼs capacity?

Davis brandished his fist as he felt that it wouldʼve likely changed.

”Master?” Nadia probed as she saw him hit empty air.

”Nothing, I was just catching a fly...” Davis awkwardly replied before he looked towards the sea.

At this moment, the lightning sea present in the distance disappeared, likely the weather returning to normal as the density of the falling lightning strikes seemed to have diminished to a bare minimum.

Considering how much time had passed, it was just a short while, but the amount of damage it caused was enough to create a sea of corpses floating on the sea.

Perhaps, there were a hundred thousand carcasses, just ready for the taking.

However, looking at it be deep-fried, it was obvious none of the parts would be useful or valuable, but in terms of food, it seemed that the magical sea-beasts that had dived deep into the ocean to avoid the sea of lightning had resurfaced and already began to feast the floating carcasses!

Perhaps, this kind of feast was a common scene in this region.

Davis suddenly shot off towards the sea and hovered above it.

He could grasp, feel, and smell it, the scent of death, just like the time in the Sunset Tear Magical Beast Mountain. He felt like comprehending something but just couldnʼt grasp it.

His expression turned into a frown. The elemental disturbance in this area was too much. The falling lightning strikes, the chaotic sea, the blood, and the wind storm eradicated the death in the air. He just couldnʼt enter that enlightenment state.

Davis tried once again to enter that state, but he just couldnʼt. He promptly gave up and returned, but he didnʼt forget to curse the heavens for robbing him off of this free opportunity!

Perhaps, lightning, as the intense yang, was the reason for him to fail but nevertheless...

Could it be that he had to needlessly kill a massive amount of people and every living thing in a suitable environment to comprehend death?

It was just... simply fucked up!

*Bzzzzzzz!~*

Abruptly massive undulations erupted from the other side of the black mountain range!

Davisʼs expression changed as he simply waved his hand and took out the flying boat he came used to arrive in the Alstreim Thunder Island. Nadia didnʼt dally. She quickly transformed as she picked up Sophie Alstreim from the surface and arrived before the flying boat as they set sail in the skies towards the distance!
