Chapter 1109: Chapter 1109: Guardian of the Earth

”Shui Ying is the biological mother of my three elder sisters and also my father’s first wife. She...” Ye Fei took over the conversation and recounted Shui Ying’s story.

In truth, he harbored some resentment towards this grandmother, but upon reflection, her actions stemmed purely from a mother’s concern for her daughters and were not wrong. Thus, Ye Fei didn’t wish to embarrass her further.

Initially, when Wang Yueryao learned from her second daughter that she was Ye Lingyun’s second wife, she had assumed that Ye Yunying and the others’ mother had passed away.

Only after Ye Fei’s explanation did she grasp the full picture, and her sympathy for her second daughter deepened.

However, Wang Yueryao was a rational person and did not hold any grudges against Shui Ying. Instead, she felt a sense of shared hardship with this ”sister” of her second daughter, whom she had yet to meet.

After a moment of silence, Wang Yueryao spoke up: ”My situation is somewhat similar to Shui Ying’s, but there is one key difference: I truly did die at one point, something Fengyi and Yiru must be aware of.”

”Yes, what exactly happened?” Liu Fengyi and Liu Yiru asked in unison. When their mother had ”passed away,” they were still young but old enough to remember. They had cried their eyes out and had even witnessed her burial.

Had it not been for the incredible events they had experienced with Ye Fei, which had vastly expanded their capacity to accept the extraordinary, and the unmistakable bond of blood they felt with her, they would never have so readily accepted her as their mother.

Wang Yueryao let out a soft sigh and began to recount her story.

Years ago, the loss of her best and only close friend, Lu Xueqi, had left Wang Yueryao utterly devastated. She had even contemplated following her friend into death.

Although her attachment to her daughters, especially the newly born Liu Junyi, eventually dissuaded her from this desperate thought, her health had taken a sudden and severe turn for the worse, a fact known to Liu Yiru and the others.

What happened next was unknown to them.

On the brink of ”death,” as she was about to lose consciousness, Wang Yueryao had been in immense agony, unable to bear the thought of leaving her three young daughters. She longed to stay a little longer in this world, to catch one more glimpse of her girls.

But how could human will triumph over the laws of nature? In the end, she lost consciousness all the same.

She had thought her life was over, but then, to her surprise, Wang Yueryao woke up. It felt as though she had merely taken a nap. However, upon waking, she found herself in an unfamiliar place, accompanied by a middle-aged woman she had never seen before.

What followed was even more bizarre. The middle-aged woman informed Wang Yueryao that she possessed an extremely rare and special constitution, making her the ideal successor to the Guardian of the Earth.

This trait had remained dormant until recently, when the trauma of her dear friend’s death had triggered it.

Previously, Wang Yueryao had been an ordinary person, unable to withstand the impact of one of the world’s most potent forces, which explained her deteriorating health.

The middle-aged woman, who had been observing everything, did not intervene because the time was not right.

Only after Wang Yueryao’s ”death” could her unique constitution reach its full potential. Thus, the woman waited until after her burial to secretly take her away and revive her.

At that moment, Wang Yueryao was overjoyed and wished to return to her daughters, at least to let them know she was safe. However, the woman refused, explaining that with the emergence of the successor, her own life was coming to an end, leaving no time for Wang Yueryao to do anything else.

The woman hastily took Wang Yueryao as her disciple and, using a secret technique, transferred all her power to her.

Then, the woman passed away, telling Wang Yueryao on her deathbed that this place was the core of the Earth’s power, located at the very center of the Earth.

Only by fully mastering the power she had bestowed could Wang Yueryao leave.

Determined to reunite with her daughters as soon as possible, Wang Yueryao buried her short-lived mentor and immediately began to train intensively, striving to absorb the power quickly and return home.

However, the Earth’s power was so immense that even with Wang Yueryao’s unwavering determination, it took her a full thirty years to fully integrate it with herself.

Without delay, she chose a direction at random and, using the Earth’s power, traversed half the globe like a fish through water, emerging on the surface.

Unfortunately, she had chosen the wrong direction and ended up in the United States. Her encounter with Ye Fei had been during her initial return journey after familiarizing herself with the situation.

After listening to Wang Yueryao’s account, the last remnants of resentment the Liu sisters had towards their mother disappeared, replaced by overwhelming emotion and longing. Although they couldn’t precisely gauge their mother’s strength, they sensed that she was even more powerful than their beloved Ye Fei, not to mention themselves.

Having cultivated with Ye Fei daily for the past seven years, they knew that their mother must have trained nonstop for the past thirty years to reunite with them so quickly.

Ye Yunqi, on the other hand, moved to sit beside Wang Yueryao, hugged her arm, and said with a mix of apology and affection, ”Grandma, I’m sorry. Siqi misunderstood you.”

”Hehe, it’s nothing. Grandma likes your straightforwardness,” Wang Yueryao gently patted Ye Yunqi’s head, her eyes filled with affection.

Now she understood that her direct descendants were only Ye Fei and Ye Yunqi. While Ye Fei, due to their previous encounter and his formidable strength, made her treat him almost as an equal, making it hard to feel the typical grandmotherly love, Ye Yunqi was different.

With her adorable appearance and affectionate nature, Wang Yueryao found herself doting on her granddaughter.

”By the way,” Ye Yunqi, having gained her grandmother’s forgiveness, recalled something and asked with a hint of worry, ”Grandma, when the next successor of the Earth Guardian appears, does the previous one...?”

Reminded by Ye Yunqi, Liu Yiru and the others also thought of this issue and began to worry. Only Ye Fei remained unfazed.

Although his current strength was not on par with his grandmother’s, he was confident that once he fully refined the intense yang energy in his meridians, he would be at least as powerful as her.

If it ever came to what his sister had speculated, he was sure he could find a way to protect his grandmother.
