Chapter 202: Not Even A Mob Character ( 1 )

After making sure his wife was comfortable and wouldn’t fall, Fu Chen’an said, ”I’m going now.”

Yao Zhi patted her husband’s chest and pointed forward. ”Let’s go!”

Seeing her childish behavior, Fu Chen’an shook his head and chuckled. His wife was still a child.

While they climbed the mountain, Yao Zhi explained how to build the bamboo water pipe. ”Besides using bamboo as a water pipe, we can use it to irrigate the fields too.”

”If the water source is located on higher ground and the farmland is located on lower ground, we can use bamboo pipes to connect the water source to water vats.”

”Later, make a small hole at the bottom of the water vat. Then, find smaller bamboo, hollow out the bamboo culms with the nodes removed, like the bamboo pipes I use.”

”Afterward, drill holes in these pipes so water can drip onto the plants’ root areas. This method can save water usage and is ideal for areas with low water retention.”

”It’s just that you need to check the bamboo pipes often since the holes might get clogged, so you need to clean them regularly. Besides that, this method only works on sloped areas since it depends on gravity for water flow.”

After she finished speaking, Fu Chen’an thought about the method and asked, ”Wife, if we build a tower using wooden poles and then put water vats on top of the tower, would it be feasible to use this method?”

Yao Zhi thought for a moment before saying, ”Well, as long as the water vats are located higher and the area is not too vast, it should be possible.”

”The important thing is gravity, to allow the water to flow smoothly. Another concern without a natural water source is the inconvenience of refilling the water vats.”

Fu Chen’an nodded and asked, ”Then, are you planning to use a dripping irrigation method?”

Yao Zhi shook her head and replied, ”Although our land is located near the mountain foothills, it’s flat land and not suitable for drip irrigation methods. I need to think more about irrigation for our land.”

”For now, we can only depend on manual irrigation,” she added with a sigh.

The two of them continued to climb until they reached the mountain spring.

When Fu Chen’an saw the water current, he was surprised. He thought the mountain spring would be small. Unexpectedly, its size was equal to that of a small river.

Judging from the speed of the current, the source of the mountain spring must be located at a higher elevation. Perhaps the water came from a mountain cave.

While he was checking the area, Yao Zhi asked the system to scan it. She was curious to see what the system could find underground.

Several minutes later, a blue screen appeared in front of her. When she saw the map, she was stunned. Since she asked the system to scan the underground area, the map showed the underground waterway.

The mountain spring was actually connected to a waterfall located deep inside the mountain forest. With this amount of water, she wouldn’t have to worry about running out of water even during a drought.

Besides the waterway, the map also showed several mines located in this mountain. She looked at the colorful markings on the map and asked in a low voice, ”System, what mines are these?”

A moment later, a mechanical voice echoed in her mind. ”The white cave is saltpeter. The dark brown, blackish cave is an iron mine. The yellow cave is a sulfur mine.”

When Yao Zhi heard this, she couldn’t help but hiss. ”System, are you saying that this mountain holds so many mines needed to make steel and explosives?”

After a moment of silence, the system finally replied, ”These mines are necessary for the development of this world.”

Hearing this, Yao Zhi felt that if the system had a solid form, she would slap it hard across the face.

This world was an ancient era, similar to the Shang Dynasty. Even paper shouldn’t have existed in this era, yet it was widely used. Now, the system even told her that steel and explosives were necessary for this world’s development.

At this point, she doubted that this world was merely a parallel world and leaned more toward it being a novel world. After all, only authors had the audacity to set world backgrounds as they pleased.

When this thought flashed through her mind, Yao Zhi’s body suddenly stiffened. She took a deep breath and asked, ”System, tell me the truth. What kind of world is this?”

The system went silent for a long time. When she thought it had suddenly gone offline, a mechanical voice finally echoed in her mind.

”The Host is truly amazing. You even guessed that this world is a novel world without any hints.”

”Heavens! So I really transmigrated into a novel world?!” Yao Zhi shouted in her mind.

It took her a while to calm down before she asked, ”Then, what is my role in this world? What is my husband’s role? Who is the Male Lead?”

This time, the system replied instantly. ”Fu Chen’an is a mob character who died protecting the Male Lead during the war against the barbarians. He is only mentioned in the novel in a single sentence, when the Male Lead compensates his family for his sacrifice.”

”Then what about me?” Yao Zhi asked.

”The Host’s original body isn’t even counted as a mob character. You aren’t mentioned in the novel at all. In short, you are a creation of this world’s consciousness, meant to patch a plot hole.”

Yao Zhi thought for a while before saying, ”From what you said, the Male Lead is the General?”

”Bingo! Host, you are really smart!” the system praised her.

”If the General is the Male Lead, then the Madam is the Female Lead?” Yao Zhi guessed again.

”The current wife of the Male Lead is the short-lived, villainous cannon fodder. According to the original plotline, she will die in the 4th month of the 4th year of Tianwu.”
