Radiant Dragon’s Otherworldly Reincarnation

Chapter 42. I’ll Go This Far for You (1)

About a month after the Orcs’ training began….

[Uwooooargh!]

[Not like that, you muscle-bound pig bastard!]

[Uraaaaaaah!]

[Stance! Stance! Staaaaance!]

[Oooooooh!]

[You sons of bitches!]

Patrick despaired.

To be sure, the saber arts of the Hebei Peng Clan were a martial art where the potential of one’s physique was more important than insight.

But it was still, undeniably, a martial art.

Disciplined movements accompanied by precise stances and delicate internal energy control were fundamental.

Wasn’t that what made it a martial art, and wasn’t the process of achieving that called training?

But these Orcs, no matter how many times he taught them, would just charge forward screaming ‘Uwooooargh!’ the moment he took his eyes off them.

They had completely forgotten the stances Patrick had taught them.

In the end, Patrick despaired.

[It’s impossible. Teaching these bastards ‘Five Tiger Severing Gate Blade’ is harder than teaching a goblin ‘Ten Thousand Streams Flower Rain’.]

Patrick was someone who rarely knew the meaning of giving up, but this was beyond him.

A guy with a rotten attitude could be fixed with a beating.

A guy lacking talent could also be dragged up with a beating.

Violence was indeed the answer.

That was Patrick’s conviction.

But there was no answer for a blockhead.

Would beating a stupid kid on the head provide a solution?

It would only make them stupider.

In the end, Patrick swallowed his tears and lowered his goal.

Advanced saber arts like the ‘Five Tiger Severing Gate Blade’ or ‘Primordial Thunderclap Blade’, which he had initially aimed for, were absolutely impossible.

He sought out the simplest and easiest martial art and refined it to suit the Orcs.

Simpler.

Easier.

More convenient.

The result of refining and refining again with that goal in mind was….

* * *

‘Three Tigers Saber Art’

It was a saber art he named Orc Blade, tailored to the standards of this world.

It was a saber art created by extracting the techniques with the easiest internal energy application from the forms of ‘Five Tiger Severing Gate Blade’, which Peng Mujong had most favored in his past life, and melting them into the principles of the Samjae Sword Art, which any and every martial artist in the Jianghu knew.

For Patrick, a swordsman, to simply modify a high-level martial study like ‘Five Tiger Severing Gate Blade’ was a truly arduous and difficult task. However….

[I’ll go this far for you. When we meet in the afterlife, you’d better buy me a grand round of drinks.]

He gritted his teeth and did it.

It couldn’t just be easy.

He had to somehow melt even a little of the essence of the Hebei Peng Clan’s martial studies into it and make the Orcs learn it.

The Orc Blade created in this way was a martial art that even the simple-minded, blockheaded Orcs could learn. Of course….

“The bastard who gets the stance wrong dies. Go ahead, try your ‘Uwooooargh’ again. Just try it, you bastards!”

Even that was by no means easy.

In any case, although there were some who suffered, the Schneider fiefdom was extremely peaceful.

Thanks to the Orcs, as well as the soldiers who were now quite skilled with a blade, wiping out all the nearby monsters, it was now time to consider expanding the fiefdom beyond just ensuring its safety.

After all, the purpose of the fiefdoms placed in the Great Forest, including the Schneider fiefdom, was to pioneer the Great Forest and keep the monsters in check.

But then, one day.

“Young Master. The Lord is calling for you.”

April came and told Patrick, who was having a drink for breakfast.

“Father? What’s going on?”

“I am not sure. He just commanded me to bring you, Young Master.”

“Right. Well, I’ll find out when I get there.”

On his way, Patrick wondered what trouble he had caused recently.

‘Beating up the Orcs? Beating up the soldiers? Beating up Brian? Beating up monsters… ah, that’s a good thing.’

Wasn’t the problem the fact that he was always beating someone up throughout his entire life?

Not that he himself would ever realize it.

When he went to his father, his mother, Ava, was there with him.

Unlike Baron Schneider, who had a few white hairs visible at his temples, Ava had grown even younger and more beautiful.

To an onlooker, they would look more like a father and daughter than a married couple.

“You called for me, Father?”

“Yes. Come and sit here.”

As Patrick sat, Ava called out to April, who was behind Patrick, in the kindest voice in the world.

“You sit down too, April.”

“I am fine, My Lady.”

“Do you dislike sitting next to me?”

Seeing Ava’s disappointed expression, April hesitated slightly before….

“No. I will sit.”

She sat down next to Ava.

And Ava began to dote on April as if she were her own beloved daughter.

“Is there anything bothering you? Is Patrick treating you well? If you need anything, just tell me right away.”

At that sight, the Baron sighed and said.

“She will be fine on her own.”

“What did you say.”

“No, no. Ahem, April. Could you bring some tea?”

“Yes, My Lord.”

And as April was about to get up, Ava’s eyes widened as she spoke.

“Why are you making the child, who just sat down, get up again? Don’t you have hands? Don’t you have feet.”

“Uh… well.”

“Is our April someone who serves tea?”

“……”

Well, a maid is originally that kind of person.

He wanted to say that, but looking at his wife glaring daggers at him, he couldn’t bring himself to say it.

“Ahem. No, no. It was my fault.”

In the end, Baron Schneider sighed and apologized, and Patrick looked at his father with pity in his eyes.

“What are you thinking?”

“I am resolving to ‘get married as late as possible.’”

“……”

It’s sad. Just plain sad.

Baron Schneider took a sip of the tea he had brewed himself and spoke to Patrick.

“How are the soldiers’ standards lately?”

“Most of them are at a level of 3-star or higher. The guard captain, Sanson, might even reach 5-star soon.”

“Hahaha… that’s incredible. At this point, wouldn’t it be fine to just grant them knighthood?”

“They are still far from it.”

“You set the standard for a knight too strictly. Will you only be satisfied when they all become 7-star and can draw out an Aura Blade?”

“Hmm, that would be a respectable level.”

At his son’s words, Baron Schneider shook his head.

He had completely entrusted the soldiers’ training to his son.

But sometimes, when he went to observe, the brutal hellscape that unfolded made him think he should stop it.

However, as a result of allowing it, his son had produced clear results.

Usually, there was no problem being called a knight even at the 2-star level, but a minimum of 3-star?

Even the guard captain, Sanson, was 4-star.

This was no longer 200 soldiers.

In terms of skill alone, it was a knightly order of 200.

The one who had created this was his son right before his eyes.

For him to interfere now, even as the lord, would be shameless.

“Alright. I’ll leave it to you. You must have a plan.”

“Of course.”

“Surely you’re not thinking it’s a waste of money because you’d have to raise their wages if they become knights.”

“…Of course not.”

“Hey.”

“So why did you call me?”

Patrick quickly changed the subject, and Baron Schneider let out a deep sigh before taking a letter from his breast pocket and holding it out.

“Read this.”

Patrick did as he was told, took the letter, and read it.

“To my beloved wife, Ava, your beauty grows more dazzling by the day, enough to make the goddess of beauty jealous….”

“Wait, wait, not that one.”

The Baron, greatly flustered, snatched the letter from Patrick’s hand.

Patrick looked at the blushing Baron and Ava, who was shyly saying, ‘You, really,’ and said.

“You two are soooooo in love.”

“Ahem, ahem….”

“Am I getting a younger sibling? A little brother? A little sister?”

“Enough, just read this.”

The Baron took another letter from his breast pocket and gave it to him.

And as he looked at the letter, Patrick’s eyebrows began to twitch subtly.

「To Baron Schneider.

Recently, bandits have become rampant in the east, taking the lives and property of merchants and tormenting the good people of the kingdom.

Several lords have already tried to subjugate them, but the bandits’ forces proved formidable, and the subjugation failed.

Therefore, as the Count responsible for the east, I intend to gather the strength of the eastern nobles as one to subjugate the atrocious bandits, fulfill the duty of the nobility, and uphold justice.

Upon receiving this letter, lead the forces of your fiefdom and gather at the count’s domain immediately.

Count Jaden Parmas.」

After Patrick finished reading the letter, Baron Schneider spoke.

“What do you think?”

“About what?”

“About the punitive force the Count speaks of.”

“Well, it’s obvious.”

“Hm? Obvious.”

“Yes. Bandits appeared, they tried to subjugate them, but they were stronger than expected and got their asses kicked. So, they want to increase their numbers and gang up on them. Isn’t that it?”

It is… it is right. It is, but.

“Do you have to put it like some power struggle between back-alley thugs?”

“Is there any difference? Whether it’s the stuck-up nobles or the back-alley kids, in the end, they’re all fighting to protect their own livelihoods. It’s just that the nobles’ stage is a bit bigger. Pathetic fools.”

“Son, you are also a noble.”

“Ah, I forgot.”

Seeing Patrick, who seemed to have genuinely forgotten, Baron Schneider covered his eyes with his hand.

My hopeless child.

“Anyway, isn’t this kind of thing obvious? They can’t do it alone, so they’re gathering forces to gang up. What is there to think about?”

“You mean it’s not good?”

“There is no good or bad. The situation is just the situation.”

“……”

Seeing Baron Schneider still looking like he didn’t understand, Patrick sighed.

“What’s important is not Count Parmas, but your choice, Father.”

“My choice?”

“Yes. What do you want to do?”

“What do you mean, what? The Count has called, so shouldn’t we naturally go?”

“Well, yes. After going, what do you want to do? Do you just want to appropriately hold your position and fulfill your duty? Or….”

Pausing for a moment, Patrick looked the Baron straight in the eye and said.

“Do you want to announce the strength of the Baron Schneider family to the world and seize wealth and honor?”

“Wealth and honor, what do you mean….”

“It’s not an absurd statement. It can be done.”

“……”

“If only you desire it, Father.”

Baron Schneider’s expression hardened.

It was because his son’s expression had become quite serious as he spoke.

Although his son had a foul personality, was monstrously strong, and was so ferocious that it was doubtful if he was even human….

‘What on earth have I raised?’

Baron Schneider felt a moment of self-doubt as a parent but quickly collected himself.

In any case, despite his son’s many flaws, he sometimes showed wisdom and insight that didn’t match his young age.

Just like right now.

“Are you saying you can achieve it if I desire wealth and honor?”

“You are the lord, and we are your vassals. Of course, we will achieve it for you.”

It was as if he were asking, ‘Shall I buy some fruit on my way back from the market?’

But if it were Patrick, he would really do it.

Because there wasn’t a single thing he said he would do that he hadn’t done.

Baron Schneider thought silently for a moment before opening his mouth.

“Wealth and honor.”

“……”

“They are good things. Wealth enriches everyone, and yearning for honor is the very goal that many nobles pursue throughout their lives.”

“In that case….”

“However.”

Baron Schneider cut off his son’s words and then said.

“I do not wish for you, my son, and the soldiers to risk your lives and shed blood for such wealth and honor.”

“……”

“Compared to the blood they will shed and the tears their families will shed, things like wealth and honor are nothing but trivial.”

“…Damned similar.”

“What did you say?”

“……”

Patrick did not answer.

His memory was recalling the distant past.

[Master, our Twin Dragon Sect stood at the forefront and shattered the Blood Kill Sect. Why must we yield the credit to those Nine Sects bastards who just watched from behind?]

[To contend with them for the credit, you would have to fight against those Nine Sects this time.]

[Let’s fight. I’ll crush those shameless bastards.]

[I….]

The Master, with his usual benevolent smile, continued.

[I do not wish to put you all in danger for such petty credit.]

[Master….]

[If the blood of my disciples is needed to gain a higher reputation, I would rather be in the lowliest position in the world.]

It was frustrating.

It was unfair and infuriating.

There’s a limit to how good a person can be. No one would even acknowledge him for doing that, so why would he do such a thing?

There’s a limit to how good a person can be. Isn’t this too much?

However….

‘It was because Master was that kind of person that even a bastard like me could function as a human being, I guess.’

If it hadn’t been for his Master, Jin Cheon would have been called something like the Radiant Dragon Blood Demon, not the Radiant Dragon Great Master.

And he would have become a great leader of the Unorthodox Alliance, bringing a storm of blood to the Jianghu and disaster upon the world.

His Master taught him and showed him through his own actions what was precious and what was more important.

Although he had passed through one death and gained a new life in a new world, his Master’s teachings were still engraved deep in Patrick’s soul.
