Radiant Dragon’s Otherworldly Reincarnation

Chapter 29. True Nine Yin Severed Meridians (1)

“A curse? A cuuurse? Hey, you bastard, there are things you should and shouldn’t say to a kid. What, a curse?”

“Young Master, please calm down.”

“Calm down about what? I’m going to teach that bastard that the definitively existing violence is scarier than some curse that may or may not exist.”

“Grab him. Grab him no matter what.”

“Hold him tight. If we lose the Young Master, that doctor fellow is dead.”

The soldiers, including Sanson, held Patrick tightly, but Patrick was dragging them along as he slowly approached the doctor.

From the victim’s perspective, he looked like a mad dog breaking its chains and coming toward him.

‘A demon. A demon lives in this fief.’

He even started to think that perhaps the curse on that child was cast by that demon.

At that moment, Lawrence spoke to Patrick.

“Young Master. Please calm down for now.”

“Grrrrr…”

“As the doctor said, it is true that the child’s condition is very strange.”

“Arrrr…”

He showed no signs of calming down at all.

To Patrick, who was increasingly turning into a Ra(Mad) Dragon… no, a rabid dog, Lawrence said.

“Their body is very cold, and their state of weakness is extreme. I don’t think it’s a curse, but it is certainly not a normal condition.”

“Kyarrr…. Huh?”

Patrick’s reason, which had escaped his brain, finally returned.

Then Patrick said to Lawrence.

“Is the kid’s body very cold?”

“Yes.”

“Doesn’t their entire skin have a faint blue tint?”

“…Uh. Yes.”

“If you check the whites of their eyes, haven’t the capillaries turned black?”

“Th-… that’s right. Young Master, have you studied medicine?”

The person who answered Patrick last was not Lawrence, but the doctor who had been sent flying by a kick to the side.

“Don’t give me that medicine crap.”

How would I know something like that?

I was busy to the point of death just swinging a sword, making money, and researching martial arts.

However, a martial artist is ultimately a being who studies and trains the human body in depth.

Muscles, skeleton, acupoints, the correlation between the Dantian and the mind, and so on.

As a result, they also possess a wealth of knowledge regarding the unique abnormal constitutions of martial artists.

Especially in Patrick’s case, he had a strong suspicion right now.

“Where is that child?”

“They are lying over there.”

“I need to take a look. Let me go for now. I’m okay now.”

As Patrick said that, the soldiers let go.

And….

“Uwaak!”

“You quack bastard.”

The moment the soldiers let go, Patrick pounced on the doctor and started stomping on him.

“What? Abandon the kid? What, a curse? You wanna die?”

“Aigoo. Aak! Aaaak!”

“I called you here and paid you to save people, and what, abandon them? Die, you quack bastard!”

“Aak! Save peo… Uwak!”

It was truly a gruesome scene of violence.

“Aigoo, Young Master!”

“Stop him! I said, stop him!”

“You said you were okay now.”

The soldiers hastily clung to him and pulled him off.

Patrick, whose legs were dangling in the air as he was held by Sanson, kicked his legs and shouted.

“Being okay is being okay. Once I’ve decided to beat someone up, I have to beat them up!”

Ah, so that’s how it is.

Even when your mind is perfectly clear, there’s no retracting a decision once made about violence.

What a firm conviction you have.

* * *

After beating up the quack a few more times, Patrick checked the child’s condition.

He already had a guess.

But he had to check just in case.

He grabbed her wrist and pushed his ki in to check the child’s body, and the result was….

“As I thought…”

Patrick’s face was filled with surprise.

He had suspected it, but he never thought it would actually be this.

“True Nine Yin Severed Meridians.”

This child had the Nine Yin Severed Meridians.

And it was the true Nine Yin Severed Meridians, much more severe than his mother Ava’s.

‘No, is this common in this world? I’ve only lived for ten years, but I’ve already seen two cases of Nine Yin Severed Meridians.’

In the Central Plains, the Nine Yin Severed Meridians was a constitution so rare it was hard to find even one person in an era.

Especially after the cure was discovered, this severed meridian became a blessing rather than a Heavenly Punishment, making it a constitution so rare that it was hard to find even when all the martial artists of the Central Plains were searching with their eyes wide open for any kid with blocked acupoints.

But Patrick had already discovered the second case of severed meridians since being reborn.

It was absurd, but he came to his senses, calmly reviewed the situation in his head, and realized something.

“Jackpot!”

This was a real jackpot.

* * *

The girl was born into a wealthy family.

But that did not mean she was happy.

Her father was a nobleman, and her mother was a commoner who had become that nobleman’s concubine due to her outstanding beauty.

In cases like this, it might have been better to be born as a regular commoner.

This was because the checks and jealousy of the official wife tormented the girl and her mother greatly.

It rarely happens that the official wife and the concubine get along amicably, calling each other sister with smiles.

There might be one case in ten where they are indifferent to each other, but even that is not common.

Most official wives check and are jealous of the concubine, constantly pushing her away.

If they acknowledge the concubine and her child, the inheritance for their own children will decrease, and in the worst-case scenario, it could become a threat to the line of succession.

So how could they get along?

In the first place, the one at fault is the man who thoughtlessly made a lover outside and even had a child.

Most of the girl’s childhood was like that.

Her mother had to live as if she were always hiding in a small corner of the mansion, and if she carelessly went outside and was spotted by the official wife or her half-brothers, she would be scolded immediately.

[How dare a lowly thing wander around inside the mansion?]

On days when the official wife and her children were angry, she had to be locked in a dark warehouse and starve without anything to eat.

Her father did not take her and her mother’s side.

His affection for her mother had already cooled considerably, and if he rashly took their side and the official wife’s family intervened, his own position would be in jeopardy.

The only person who cared for her was her mother, but she did not have the power to protect the girl.

[April. I’m sorry. Mommy… is sorry.]

Whenever she came in after being scolded and beaten, her mother would always embrace the girl and apologize.

In a harsh and painful world, only that small embrace was the only place the girl could find rest.

But even that small embrace did not last long.

It was because of the girl herself.

[A curse. This is a curse.]

[What? What do you mean by that? A curse in this day and age?]

[It’s true. There is no way to cure it, and if left like this, it will make everyone around sick.]

[Is that really true?]

[I swear in the name of God. You must banish this child immediately.]

At the words of the priest who examined her sick self, her father banished her without a second thought.

A young girl who was only seven years old.

And at the decision to banish the girl, her mother also followed the girl and left the mansion.

The official wife was greatly pleased with her mother’s decision and threw a few coins as if in a show of generosity.

[Please, leave for a faraway place so that you never appear before my eyes again. Never set foot here again.]

As the official wife who had driven out the girl and her mother with a smile had wished, the girl’s mother took the girl and headed for a faraway place.

Life was hard after that.

The small amount of money she had received when leaving the main house was quickly spent on her daughter’s medical bills.

Not that she was cured, though.

[Mom. I’m okay now. Please stop….]

[No, April. You will definitely get better. There are no curses in this world. So your illness will definitely be cured one day.]

April wished her mother would give up on her, but she did not give up on her daughter.

Even after all the money was gone, she worked her hardest to provide for her child’s medical expenses.

But that eventually led to overwork, and finally, the girl’s mother also collapsed.

[Mom. Mom….]

[April. I’m sorry. Mommy… is sorry.]

The girl couldn’t even shed tears as she watched her mother, who had collapsed and was growing thinner day by day.

She had learned at too young an age that if she cried, her mother would be the one to feel the most heartbroken.

Unable to withstand the cold winter, the girl’s mother grew cold and passed away.

After she died, the girl’s illness became more serious, and it became difficult for her to even move her own body.

It was then that strange men took the girl.

[What’s this? Is this thing even alive?]

[Let’s just take her anyway. We have to meet the quota, don’t we?]

[That’s true. We just need to fill the numbers.]

The ones who took the girl, who was dying with her mother’s corpse in a dilapidated house in the slums, were thieves who were then Billy’s subordinates.

They had been ordered to kidnap children from the slums for their illegal slave business, and they had taken the girl to fill their quota.

At that time, the girl did not resist.

No, she didn’t even have the energy to resist.

Instead, she thought to herself.

If she was truly cursed and that curse was real, she wished it would bring misfortune to those who were taking her now.

Unexpectedly, that wish came true.

Billy’s faction was destroyed by Patrick in one night, and after that, Billy was captured by Red and subjected to a horribly cruel punishment.

After that, the girl’s memories were faint, connected only in bits and pieces.

The memory of someone finding them and being surprised.

And the memory of being moved somewhere with the other children nearby.

And when she came to her senses again, a person who seemed to be a doctor was shouting that she was a cursed child.

The girl wanted to say something.

No. You can abandon me, you can kill me.

But I wanted to say that I am not a cursed child.

‘Mom said it. She said I’m not a cursed child. So… please…’

If she was really a cursed child, then her mother’s entire life would be meaningless.

That was the one thing she couldn’t bear.

And at that moment….

[Was it you? The quack bastard who was spouting nonsense about a curse?]

That was the last scene the girl remembered.

A boy who appeared while kicking away the doctor who said she should be banished.

At that time, the girl thought.

What should she call this boy who had appeared to grant her desperate wish at the last moment of her life?

Usually, such a being is called….

‘An angel?’

Let’s be understanding. Her condition was very poor.

In any case, that was the girl’s last memory.

* * *

Patrick brought the girl to his room and forbade anyone from entering.

After giving strict orders to Lawrence, he carefully sat the girl on the bed.

“I have to be careful, right?”

Patrick was serious.

In the ten years he had lived since being reborn in this world, he had never been this serious.

‘A mistake means death.’

But if he succeeded, it was also a jackpot.

Patrick had the girl with the Nine Yin Severed Meridians sit in a cross-legged position, placed his hands on her back, and pushed his ki in.

And through that ki(Qi), he began to stimulate the acupoints inside the girl’s body as if he were tapping them.

True Qi Taoist.

It was a technique of moving ki in another’s body to guide it along the correct path, and for a master of Patrick’s level, it was not a very difficult task.

As long as the opponent was not in the extreme state of Nine Yin Severed Meridians.

‘This is different from my mother’s case. This is… a truly different level of Yin energy.’

Even though Ava had the Nine Yin Severed Meridians, the number of blocked acupoints was four.

And that was after it had worsened considerably through childbirth; before that, it was probably about three or two.

But this child, true to the name of true Nine Yin Severed Meridians, had all nine major acupoints blocked.

Honestly, the fact that she was still alive was a miracle.

How could she maintain her vitality when there was no ki circulating in her body at all?

‘Is it because the density of ki in this world is much richer than in the Central Plains?’

In any case, this girl was alive.

Even with an enormous amount of condensed Yin energy filling her nine acupoints.

Patrick had to unblock these meridians one by one while performing True Qi Taoist, gather the Yin energy circulating throughout her body, and make it his own.

After that, he also had to create a vessel in this child’s Dantian to hold ki.

If he made even the slightest mistake in this process, not only the girl but Patrick too would be in danger.

But if this were to succeed….

‘There’s so much to gain.’

First, if he improved the Nine Yin Severed Meridians constitution, he could obtain a talent with the best martial aptitude.

Also, if he could absorb the Yin energy in the girl’s body and make it his own, his internal energy would increase greatly.

He might even see an effect greater than eating Shaolin’s Great Cycle Pill.

“I just have to not make a mistake. Just…”

He had already grasped where and how it was blocked while infusing ki.

Well, since everything was blocked, there wasn’t much to confirm.

“Alright. Let’s goooo!”
