Radiant Dragon’s Otherworldly Reincarnation

Chapter 14. Hehehe. Yes, you look expensive at a glance (4)

“We also want to learn that strange movement technique you use.”

“Huh? Movement technique?”

“Yes. That movement technique where you suddenly disappear with a whoosh and then appear in an unexpected place to beat us up.”

Right now, Oliver was asking to be taught the footwork and movement techniques used in combat.

In fact, in terms of progress, he was right.

After strengthening the lower body and consistently training inner energy, once a certain level is reached, one should slowly start training in footwork.

That is correct in terms of progress.

The only problem is….

“Already?”

“Is it not possible?”

“Originally, it shouldn’t be possible, but….”

Patrick thought for a moment.

Originally, he had planned to invest about a year focusing on lower body training.

After that, he would start training in footwork and movement techniques, then teach basic fist and kicking arts, and only after that would he put twin swords in their hands.

So, according to the original plan, it would take at least three years for them to hold twin swords in their hands.

However….

‘It’s true, their progress is fast.’

The soldiers’ progress was much faster than Patrick had expected.

It wasn’t because the soldiers were geniuses, nor was it because Patrick was drilling them like he was catching mice.

There was a more fundamental reason.

It was the density of ki.

Patrick had also felt it while training, but the density of ki in this world was much higher than in the Central Plains where he had lived in his previous life.

To the extent that the same training would yield about three times the effect compared to the Central Plains.

‘Honestly, at this rate, it’s no different from training while eating some low-grade spiritual medicine.’

Perhaps because of that?

Some of the soldiers already had ki starting to form in their qi centers.

Although the Basic Blessing was an excellent energy cultivation method, it hadn’t even been half a year since they started learning it, yet a vessel was already beginning to form in their qi centers.

“Their lower bodies too…. have gone from toothpicks to at least kindling….”

Above all, he liked the look in the eyes of the soldiers, who had recently developed grit and tenacity during training.

In the end, Patrick made up his mind.

“Alright. I will teach you the basic footwork.”

The soldiers’ training stage moved on to the next level.

Nine Dragons Cloud Steps.

A movement technique that embodies the image of nine dragons frolicking in the clouds, it is a unique martial art of the Twin Dragon Sect.

It is a movement technique that allows one to move freely, sometimes stealthily, sometimes swiftly, sometimes powerfully, sometimes unpredictably.

It is no exaggeration to say that it is the foundation of the Radiant Dragon Great Master Jin Cheon, the best movement technique.

However, there is a problem….

‘This is both the best and the worst movement technique.’

It was absolutely impossible to teach this movement technique to the soldiers as it was.

To explain why, one must first explain a little of the history of the Twin Dragon Sect.

The founder of the Twin Dragon Sect was said to have been a rising master who made a name for himself in the martial world of his time.

His skills were said to be on par with the sect leaders of the Nine Sects One Gang and the clan heads of the Five Great Clans at the time.

But as time passed, the name of the Twin Dragon Sect gradually faded.

The reason was that the martial arts of the Twin Dragon Sect were too difficult and abstruse.

The founder of the Twin Dragon Sect was a person with a natural talent for martial arts, and the martial arts he created were not inferior to those of the prestigious great sects.

In terms of power, that is.

But the martial arts of the Twin Dragon Sect that he created were all abstruse and difficult.

They were so difficult that even the disciples he taught directly could not achieve more than five-tenths of its mastery.

The disciples that those disciples later took in received incomplete teachings and their achievements became even lower, and soon there was no one who had mastered the martial arts of the Twin Dragon Sect beyond the third stage.

That is, until another genius named Radiant Dragon Great Master Jin Cheon joined in a later generation.

A martial art with excellent power but damnably difficult to learn.

A martial art whose true meaning cannot be properly felt unless one is a genius.

In a sense, this was a martial art more worthless than the Three Talents Sword Art.

‘The founder was hopeless too. How are the disciples supposed to learn if you create a martial art that can’t be learned and force them to learn it? Well, I learned it just fine, though.’

It was all about boasting in the end.

In any case, it was impossible to teach the Nine Dragons Cloud Steps that Patrick used to the soldiers, who didn’t know the first thing about martial arts.

‘It would be easier to teach my pushover father loan sharking.’

But fortunately, Patrick had a solution.

In fact, this solution was something he had been contemplating and preparing for a long time, since his days as Jin Cheon.

In order to make his untalented junior brothers and young junior nephews strong, he had worked tirelessly to interpret and reorganize the difficult and abstruse martial arts of the Twin Dragon Sect to make them as easy to learn as possible.

‘Finding the weaknesses of other sects… no, pleading with them to seize… no, to obtain various martial arts was all necessary for that process.’

Of course, every time he did that, Master would foam at the mouth and repeatedly oppose it.

Changing the sect’s martial arts at will was a bolt out of the blue, and on top of that, he was causing all sorts of trouble for other sects in the process, so he had collapsed in his spot more than once or twice every time he caused trouble.

‘Tsk tsk tsk, how could a pushover know the will of a genius.’

In any case, the process of remodeling the martial arts of the Twin Dragon Sect had made some progress, and he was planning to introduce it to the next batch of kids in earnest.

Before that, Jin Cheon had died, though.

“You should be grateful. It wasn’t for you, but I’ll bestow it upon you for your sake.”

“Yes?”

“Never mind…. First, I will give a demonstration. Everyone, watch carefully and follow along.”

And Patrick moved his body, slowly taking one step at a time, unfolding the footwork.

Kung! Kung! Kung!

With each step Patrick took, a clear footprint was imprinted on the hard-packed dirt floor of the training ground.

“W-…. Wow….”

“Is that even possible?”

“A person isn’t an ogre….”

Patrick deliberately performed the footwork slowly, moving so that the soldiers could see the connection of the movements.

And he also adjusted the width of the footwork so that the soldiers, who had adult body frames, could follow it naturally.

Patrick, who had so carefully stepped on the ground, left the footprints of the footwork for a total of five different types of situations.

When moving forward.

When retreating backward.

When turning to the right.

When turning to the left.

When holding one’s ground.

Kuuuung!

“Huuuu….”

After finishing all the footwork and concluding the form, Patrick looked at the footprints he had left with satisfaction.

‘Kuuuh…, this is it. This is a proper martial art.’

The original Nine Dragons Cloud Steps starts with eighty-one steps where nine dragons move according to nine different situations.

If you add the variations to unfold the Twin Dragons Eight Sword Forms, it has a total of six hundred and forty-eight forms.

‘What kind of crazy bastard would learn all th— ah, I did, didn’t I.’

Patrick had briefly spit in the air while lying down.

In any case, the important thing was that it was impossible to learn such a precise and delicate martial art unless one was a true genius.

So, Patrick simplified the martial arts of the Twin Dragon Sect as much as possible, gathered the core, and compensated for the weaknesses that arose in the process with martial arts obtained from other sects, remodeling the martial arts of the Twin Dragon Sect.

The new movement technique created in this way was none other than….

“Five Elements Steps. It’s simple, so it’s good, right? Kuuuh…. I really went through hell to create this.”

I snatched the Flowing Cloud Movement Technique from Wudang.

I stole the Dark Fragrance Float from Mount Hua.

I scammed the Nine Turns Illusory Steps from Emei.

Poor Nine Sects One Gang.

“The footwork you desire is right here. The priority is to learn the form first, so repeat moving according to the footprints I have made.”

He had kindly shown a sample and even left footprints to make it easier to train.

‘Where else could you find a teacher like me?’

Patrick was proud of himself for being a truly good teacher, but the soldiers had fed-up expressions.

And among them, Oliver said.

“Young Master.”

“What now?”

“Are you telling us to do this complicated movement?”

“…….”

This is complicated?

This? Wow…. this?

If you were to leave the footprints of the Nine Dragons Cloud Steps, it would not be enough even if you filled this entire training ground.

But this little bit is complicated?

As Patrick’s disbelief was absconding, the soldiers voiced their complaints.

“It’s not like we’re ballroom dancing, what’s the meaning of such complicated footwork?”

“That’s right, Young Master. This is meaningless.”

“Surely you’re not doing this because you don’t want to teach us proper technique, are you?”

“Be honest. We’ll let it slide if you tell us now.”

‘Hohoho…, look at these cute little fellows.’

The soldiers had grown quite some guts now.

Their fearless yapping at Patrick made it feel like they had gone from one-day-old puppies to two-day-old puppies.

To the soldiers, who were full of suspicion and distrust towards him, Patrick said with a bright smile.

“Right. You doubt the effectiveness of this footwork that I worked so hard to create. I see.”

And Patrick picked up the twin swords in his hands again.

The soldiers flinched reflexively at that moment, but it was already too late.

“Then it can’t be helped. I will make you realize it with your own bodies. The true value of these Five Elements Steps.”

“Huh? Young Master?”

“Wait a minute. Wasn’t the sparring over?”

“Young Master. Let’s put down the wooden swords for now and talk calmly….”

“Just you die, you bastards!”

And Patrick began to beat the soldiers once more, actively utilizing the Five Elements Steps, and the soldiers learned the importance of movement techniques to their very bones.

The “to their very bones” here is not a metaphor.

After instructing the soldiers on the training of the movement technique.

Patrick had to leave the fiefdom for a while.

“Are you saying you will go yourself, Young Master?”

“I have to. There’s no other way.”

At Patrick’s serious words, the butler Lawrence said with an expression of incomprehension.

“I find it hard to understand that you have to go yourself to sell the monster byproducts.”

The reason Patrick was leaving the fiefdom was to dispose of the monster byproducts he had caught so far.

Starting with the Saber Tiger’s hide, there were troll’s blood and hide, owlbear’s hide, and so on.

Numerous monster byproducts had piled up.

Normally, he could just call the merchants and tell them to come and buy the goods.

But….

“I can’t trust the existing merchants. They’re the bastards who colluded with Brian to drive down the prices. How can I trust those bastards?”

“That is true.”

Lawrence, too, was planning to take this opportunity to cut ties with the existing trading company and open a new trade relationship.

But even so, he still couldn’t understand the reason why Patrick had to go out and sell the goods himself.

“Young Master. If you call the merchants, they will come on their own. So why are you trying to go yourself?”

“Tsk tsk tsk, Lawrence, you don’t know much about commerce either.”

The butler, who had managed the finances of the Baron Schneider family his entire life, was being told by a ten-year-old child that he didn’t know what commerce was.

Lawrence was slightly hurt, but he did not get angry and said.

“What do you mean?”

“Do you know the best way to sell something at the highest price?”

“There are various ways. Monopolizing certain daily necessities, or buying up food in advance and storing it, then waiting for the price to rise before selling.”

Indeed, Lawrence knew the basics of commerce.

Patrick nodded and said.

“Right. Then why do grain prices rise during a famine?”

“Because there are many people who need the goods, but the quantity of the goods is small. There are bound to be people who are willing to pay more money to buy the goods.”

“Right. In other words, the demand of those who want to buy and the supply of those who want to sell are the key to determining the price of a product.”

“…….”

Lawrence looked quite surprised.

He knew the Young Master was good at sword fighting, good at cursing, good at beating up monsters, and good at drilling soldiers.

But….

‘I didn’t know he had this side to him.’
