Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 888: Chapter 381: The Conservative Party’s Counterattack

The information from Julie instantly ruined Wu Chang’s good mood.

No wonder they didn’t see any other members of the Steam Council in the workshop producing steam explosives during the raid on the Gneral Chemical Factory.

No wonder the Steam Council revealed the major stench’s important stronghold through the Hills Newspaper, giving Henry a chance to leak the intelligence.

Wu Chang recalled the various details of the major stench incident and pieced together the Steam Council’s plan.

From the beginning, the so-called grand move of the Steam Council was not the major stench but the Demon-Breaking Steam Press inside the Royal Light Weapons Factory.

Initially, they used the major stench that enveloped Grimland to filter out the Transcendent who could maintain action and combat power within it.

Then, they intentionally exposed the source of the major stench, attracting most of the top Transcendent capable of acting within it to the remote and desolate southeast.

In such a scenario, even if there were still top Transcendents capable of maintaining action left within Grimland, they wouldn’t dare to act easily and would have to hold onto a few key points in Grimland.

By this time, the Steam Council took advantage of the situation, gathered all their personnel, and attacked the Royal Light Weapons Factory.

As for why the major stench capable of affecting the entire Grimland was used as bait for an exchange with the Demon-Breaking Steam Press one for one.

Wu Chang squinted his eyes, recalling the scene when he met Olivia.

The reason the Steam Council acted this way might be because they learned in advance that around Saint George’s Church, the Divine Kingdom of the Holy Awakening Sect existed, and just the major stench wasn’t enough to break through.

From this perspective, their ultimate target was either Olivia or the Revelation representing the Holy Awakening Sect.

Without a doubt, the Steam Council’s grand move has succeeded, which means the Demon-Breaking Steam Press they obtained can help them gain the power to break through the Divine Kingdom head-on.

Combined with the steam explosives they previously produced, Wu Chang’s inspiration told him that this group would soon bring big trouble.

”Peace.”

While Wu Chang was thinking, a voice called from behind True Self.

True Self turned his head to see Divine Tongue looking up at the sky with a solemn expression, saying:

”Isn’t the mist gathered in the sky more severe than the previous two times?”

Wu Chang followed Divine Tongue’s gaze up to the sky. If the mist originally enveloping the Grimland sky was just like the slightly overcast sky before rain, through which one could hazily see a light spot, knowing it to be the sun or moon.

Now, however, Grimland’s sky has moved beyond the category of mist, transforming into thick dark clouds, completely obscuring the moon’s outline.

Previously, Grimland was called the City of Mist because of the mist that perpetually filled the sky.

Now, it might have to be called the City of Shadows.

The haze above Grimland, in the eyes of Plane natives, is a result of industrial pollution.

But from the players’ perspective, the density of the haze also represents the extent to which the Steam Root Power affects the Plane Rules.

Every Extraordinary Steam Engine discovered by players would thicken the haze, but now with the ”Extraordinary Fog Separation Device” obtained, the mist is extraordinarily severe, more than just slightly, more like doubled.

Doubled...

Wu Chang felt a realization in his heart as he observed the changes in the Plane Rules.

Among the Transcendents accompanying the Steam Council’s actions, there must be the presence of players. The Steam Council’s acquisition of the Demon-Breaking Steam Press allowed players following them to complete Main Mission Two, meeting the conditions for the Steam Root Power to influence the rules.

So tonight, the Extraordinary Steam Engine obtained by players wasn’t one but two!

Sword Star once said that the Steam Council clearly knows how to influence the Plane Rules, and everything happening now is the result of their secret machinations.

Exposing the major stench source while raiding the Royal Light Weapons Factory, immediately doubling the Steam Root Power’s influence, was this also within their plans?

Wu Chang clicked his tongue, realizing that this group of guys wasn’t as mediocre as they presented themselves to be.

He couldn’t tell Divine Tongue and the others that he already knew about the Royal Light Weapons Factory’s attack, so he could only say:

”Perhaps something happened in the city. Bring those two Black Robes, and let’s return.”

According to Julie’s intelligence, the Steam Council left immediately after seizing the Demon-Breaking Steam Press, leaving no time to track them down.

Given the circumstances, it’s too late to hurry; on the way back, he moved from the driver’s seat to the back, leaving the return journey to automatic driving.

On the way back, the group tested the influence of steam rules on Extraordinary Power inside the car.

At this point, the concentration of steam rules shrouding Grimland was already close to two-thirds of what it was in the workshop containing the Soul Steam Engine.

After a few simple experiments by Divine Tongue and the others, all non-steam rules B-Level and below skills that require energy consumption were already ineffective in the current Grimland.

This included Wu Chang’s Space Teleportation and Shadow’s Stealth Skill.

In the future, it would not be so easy to conceal tracks and quickly get close to the Steam Council’s stronghold.

This level of restriction is a catastrophic blow to players of the level like Negotiation Master, Veronica, and Bai Ma.

A-Level Energy Skills aren’t common things. Not to mention ordinary players; even Wu Chang, at this moment, only possesses Blind Abyss as an A-Level skill.

Even among the Four Major Organizations, apart from the topmost powerful members, ordinary core members usually only have two or three A-Level skills at most.
