Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 694: Chapter 316: The Mayor’s Authority (Part 2)

Just after the Giant Sewn Monster appeared, he had already controlled his True Self to observe the monster up close.

The existence of the Giant Sewn Monster reminded Wu Chang of a game he played a long time ago. The sewn monster was very similar to a character in the game known as the Butcher or Abomination.

Its shape retained a humanoid form, so if a severely nearsighted person took off their glasses and looked from a distance, they might mistakenly think it’s a person.

However, closer observation would reveal that every part of it was composed of different bodies, or more accurately, stitched together from pieces of corpses.

Stitching these corpse pieces together were thick black thorns.

Wu Chang was not unfamiliar with these thorns; they were the actual body of the Curse Mark.

Stitched by these black thorns, the Giant Sewn Monster became a bloated and sluggish creature, with a sharp claw on its left hand, five large tentacles dragging from its right hand, and the lower limbs of four different animals—a bull, horse, sheep, and lion—underneath it.

As for the looks of the sewn monster, aside from resembling a human from a distance, each individual area on it does not look human at all.

While experiencing the appearance of the monster up close, he also saw the Blood-Colored Will on the monster.

He initially thought the person filled with resentment would be Li Zi, but unexpectedly, it was Lin Jiang.

With Lin Jiang already ending his phase of belief in Mercury and entering the phase of doubt, there was no loyalty to the Bright Society anymore.

His grudge recorded everything they did in the Cursed Dungeon and faithfully documented how Li Zi took the highest authority and then schemed against him.

Furthermore, right before Lin Jiang’s consciousness was about to be engulfed by the Divine Sewn Monster, there was a brief monologue by Li Zi in the scene of resentment.

Li Zi had a bad habit of mocking the bodies of the dead.

As they say, villains perish by speaking too much; Li Zi learned from movies to change the order, acting on killing first, then mocking the corpse.

He revealed that from the beginning, the Bright Society had prepared a special item for him, considering him as a trump card.

As long as the Cursed Dungeon could become the Pillar of the Present World or ascend to the Realm of Reason, he could use the special item to smuggle himself into the Realm of Reason.

Holding the special item, Li Zi mocked in front of Lin Jiang, who had transformed into a bramble cocoon, saying Lin Jiang was just a decoy to attract the Four Major Organizations from the start, yet thought himself in control of the entire situation, which was so arduous that he almost burst out laughing several times.

The one who bears the grudge takes the lead. Not only did Lin Jiang die at the hands of Li Zi, but he was also disco-danced on the grave, making his Blood-Colored Will simple and straightforward.

[Take down Li Zi, complete the ascension of the Cursed Dungeon, and thwart the Bright Society’s plan.]

Tch, the Bright Society and Li Zi executed everything so ruthlessly, squeezed out Lin Jiang’s utility value, then abandoned him as a discard; they certainly didn’t expect Lin Jiang’s grudge to turn around and expose their conspiracy.

People act, Heaven watches, and Heaven might not see it, but Wu Chang certainly does.

Confirming the true identity of the Giant Sewn Monster was Lin Jiang, the True Self returned to the City Hall, utilized the mayoral authority, and initiated an emergency application to the council.

Once the application is approved, it would signify that Sigef City is in a state of emergency, with the Mayor acting as the highest leader, attaining emergency state power.

During the duration of the authority, his powers would not be subject to any limitations or restrictions.

At this moment, he sat in his office, waiting for the council’s result.

After waiting for some time, with less than two minutes left before the Giant Sewn Monster arrived at City Hall.

At that moment, a message finally came from the Negotiation Master.

The council voted and passed, and Sigef City officially entered a state of emergency.

Wu Chang stood up with excitement on his face, finally, the wait was over.

Initially, he ran for mayor to conveniently command the police force of Sigef City, investigate the actions of Lin Jiang and others, and complete the main storyline mission three on the side.

But after becoming mayor, he realized being mayor was indeed a valuable asset. In Sigef City, money could buy anything, but the special privileges of a mayor could achieve things that money couldn’t.

The effect of Federation Coins was strong, but whether it was making construction effective, accelerating elections, or obtaining additional attribute liberation, it could only apply to Sigef City and the player himself.

The mayoral authority was different.

When Sigef City entered an emergency state and the entire city was under his command, he obtained a certain degree of dungeon authority, able to make rules for the dungeon, adding or deleting dungeon rules.

Although it could only influence a world rule to a certain extent, for Wu Chang, one was enough.

He chose to modify the world rule to: nullify the extra damage reduction effect of the Unity Order and increase the damage between players.

「The effect of the Unity Order is seen as harmful to the public safety of Sigef City. To maintain city peace, the extra damage reduction brought by the Unity Order between players would disappear, reducing the damage value between players from 70% to 50%.」

The effect of mayoral authority was remarkable; just after Wu Chang made the decision, the Abyssal Game announced to all players within the dungeon.

Why didn’t Hou Jingchuan mention such an advantageous mayoral authority in his dungeon intel?

Oh, because no previously entered player had ever managed to become mayor, so that clears that up.

Wu Chang stood up, asking his mayoral secretary beside him: ”If the glass in the office breaks, can it be charged to public expenses?”

The secretary was momentarily unable to keep up with Wu Chang’s train of thought, nodding blankly: ”The repair fee is paid from the City Hall funds.”

Wu Chang nodded with satisfaction, instructed: ”Report more later. A coffee cup for Air Force can be reported at 1200 Federation Coins each; with so many glass pieces, reporting ten thousand should be reasonable.”
