Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 664: Chapter 306: Curse Mark

Feeling the warmth from Erin’s palm, Amber gradually calmed down and stopped her trembling body.

Wu Chang also arrived in the bedroom at this moment, and when Amber’s expression was calm, he asked:

”Is it still that forgettable nightmare?”

Amber’s voice was a bit dry, and she said, ”This time I can remember a bit.”

Seeing Amber’s emotions becoming unstable again, Wu Chang comforted her, ”Don’t be afraid, we are all here, take your time to speak.”

Amber frowned, trying hard to recall the scenes from the dream.

”I dreamt of something terrifying, peering at me from outside; I wanted to hide, but wherever I ran, I was still within its sight.”

”It found that I couldn’t leave, so it started gnawing at the house from the outside, bit by bit. I wanted to stop it, but there was nothing I could do.”

”The next thing I knew, I was already sitting up.”

As Amber was recalling the nightmare, Wu Chang saw thick black mist appearing on Amber’s wrist.

He had seen this scene many times before; it was the Curse Mark.

Unlike before, his attribute had now been further unleashed, and his inspiration exceeded 60 points. The previously indistinct Curse Mark gradually revealed its true form in his eyes.

The true entity within the black mist was a segment of black thorns.

The black thorns formed a ring, like a thorn bracelet around Amber’s wrist, with sharp long spines piercing into her body, releasing ominous energy.

Different from previous instances, this time the appearance of the Curse Mark did not have a disaster following closely behind.

Initially, Wu Chang suspected that maybe there were too many players triggering the Curse Mark, causing the disaster schedule to be too full to come to his home.

But after waiting for more than ten minutes and still not seeing a disaster arrive, his expression turned unpleasant.

Because while waiting for the disaster, the panic in Amber’s eyes gradually amplified, and she exuded a sense of ”fragility.”

This was a sign of decreased will and an inspiration runaway.

The Curse Mark surrounding Amber, its very existence was the disaster itself.

Wu Chang reached out to grab Amber’s wrist, attempting to forcibly remove the Curse Mark, but seeing the black thorns didn’t mean he could touch them.

He tried several times, whether using physical, mental, energy, or the Community Thunder in the Five Thunders Technique known for protection, but none could reach the black thorns.

Erin used a few types of Light Magic, which only improved Amber’s state, helping her fall back asleep but not removing the Curse Mark.

After Amber fell asleep, Wu Chang rubbed his brows and said somewhat frustratedly:

”Things are a bit troublesome.”

Erin showed a worried expression and stroked Amber, saying, ”Is there anything I can do for her?”

Wu Chang sighed, ”There’s very little we can do at this stage; we must first find out what’s wrong.”

”For now, spend some good time with her, try to give her enough sense of security. As for the countermeasures, I’ll think of something.”

Even though Amber tried her utmost to act as usual the next morning as if nothing happened, Wu Chang could still feel that Amber was a bit more mentally exhausted.

She was scared of something.

While Amber pretended to be normal, Wu Chang and Erin feared that being proactive would only add pressure on Amber, so they acted as though they didn’t notice, carrying on as normal.

Upon reaching Nokes Primary School, after watching Amber enter her class, Wu Chang went up to the rooftop alone, overlooking the school.

Starting with the Faceless Ghost, solving Amber’s dilemma had become a matter that could no longer be addressed with mere force.

Especially this time, the appearance of the Curse Mark indicated involvement with the core mechanism of a dungeon.

Lacking a physical form and divinity, it left him temporarily puzzled.

He took out the All-Knowing Crystal, attempting to make a small loan for a breakthrough method.

Lured by the great Primordial Spirit Core in the Cursed Dungeon, the All-Knowing Crystal approved Wu Chang’s loan request. However, when he asked how to resolve Amber’s nightmare, the All-Knowing Crystal didn’t respond and played dead.

”Is there no way, or do you simply not know?”

Seeing the All-Knowing Crystal continue to play dead, Wu Chang clicked his tongue.

Involving items related to the Cursed Dungeon was something the All-Knowing Crystal couldn’t even propose solutions for. What Hou Jingchuan had said before about it being as enigmatic as an S-Level dungeon now seemed understated.

While pondering what next steps to take, at the edge of his vision, near the small library of the school, thick black mist was condensing on the ground.

The mist’s color and texture were similar to those on the Curse Mark.

Amber was still in class; which unlucky soul had attracted the Curse Mark?

When he got near the small library, he only then realized that it wasn’t some unlucky soul but the whole library that had encountered the Curse Mark.

Black thorns pierced through the ground, enveloping the small library within, with half-meter-long white fat worms crawling out from the holes created by the thorns, climbing towards the small library along the black thorns.

The white worm swarm, densely packed, numbered at least in the hundreds, covering nearly thirty percent of the small library’s surface.

They gnawed away at the surface of the building, and wherever they gnawed disappeared, along with the original space the building occupied and the presence of the small library itself.

The small library’s presence had thinned significantly at this moment. A teacher intending to return a book came nearby, looked directly at the small library, but seemed to see nothing.

He glanced around awkwardly, scratched his head slightly embarrassed, and turned to leave, muttering as he went, ”What was I here to do again?”
