Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Grace came this time to check the rooftop, to see if there’s really a ghost up there, and if there is, she intends to deal with it today.

Although her goal was the rooftop, with the thought of ”since we’re here,” she didn’t skip exploring each floor of the school building.

For classrooms with open doors, she peeked inside for a glance, and for those with closed doors, she not only tried to open them but also took a walk inside.

The old school building started to show abnormalities from the second floor.

In the classrooms on the second floor, the windows were open, allowing vine-like plants to grow inside like creeping ivy.

No one knows how long they’ve grown, but the dense vines completely covered the blackboard at the front of the classroom.

Grace looked at Amber and asked, ”Do you remember seeing these plants wrapped around the old school building?”

Amber shook her head and said, ”I didn’t notice.”

Mark’s face was a bit pale, and he shook his head, saying, ”I checked the old school building before coming in, and I’m sure I haven’t seen any similar plants.”

Grace stepped towards the vines, took a folding knife from her pocket, and directly cut off a section.

The cut end of the vine oozed light red sap.

”This suspicious plant, let’s take it out and ask the teacher later. Let’s go to the next room.”

After the three of them left, Wu Chang entered the classroom, unsure if he should say Grace was brave or just plain foolish.

She dared to handle something without knowing anything about it.

The vines before him were clearly some kind of conscious monster.

He reached out and pulled on a cut vine, channeling Deep Water Bite through the opening.

A few seconds later, he faintly heard a scream, and the lush vines visibly withered and decayed.

Wu Chang tore off the vines covering the blackboard and saw a humanoid red wraith bound by the vines on the board.

If it wasn’t for the protection of the cross in her hand during Grace’s action earlier, she and Amber and the others would have been attacked by the vines, keeping company with the wraith on the blackboard.

Let him see what this poor soul trapped in the old campus saw before dying.

His gaze shifted to the humanoid wraith, which began to struggle like a human, a barely audible cry for help ringing in his ears.

”Help, help!”

In a daze, he entered the wraith.

”Help, help!”

Turning around, he found that the cry for help was coming from the computer in front of him.

The wraith’s owner was watching a horror film, with the main characters being chased by a fierce ghost while ghost-hunting in a school.

At the most critical moment, the classroom door opened, and a girl in a sixth-grade uniform walked in, speaking in a harsh tone:

”Frank, you’re secretly watching these things again, and using the school’s audio-visual room computer!”

The boy called Frank shuddered in fright, turned around, and pleaded, ”Sister Amber, please don’t tell my dad, I’ll buy you ice cream after school.”

With the boy’s voice, Wu Chang clearly saw the girl who walked into the multi-functional audio-visual room.

The girl in the sixth-grade uniform was indeed Amber.

The Amber appearing in the wraith was somewhat different from the Amber Wu Chang knew.

The current Amber was taller, more cheerful, and even more open than the Amber who had overcome the Heart Demons twice.

Amber coldly snorted, ”Uncle Hank guessed right. He knew you’d use food to buy me off, so he treated me to ice cream twice already.”

Frank held up three fingers and immediately scored higher, ”Three times, I’ll buy it three times!”

Amber pouted, ”This time only, if I catch you again, I’ll definitely tell Uncle Hank. Aunt Hanna has said that at your age, you shouldn’t watch these, it’ll make you prone to violence.”

She glanced at the computer, disdainfully looking at the screen filled with blood, ”I don’t know what’s so good about these that makes you boys so obsessed.”

Wu Chang looked at Amber, recalling the two names she mentioned.

Hank, Hanna.

These names sounded familiar, in Amber’s adoption history he reviewed, Hank and Hanna were Amber’s second foster family.

If that’s the case, it makes sense. Amber hadn’t suffered the later multiple blows at that time, so her status must have been better than after being passed through over a dozen foster homes.

But the question is, Amber was already in the sixth grade when adopted for the second time?

He had seen Amber’s school enrollment records, which only noted a leave of absence, with no mention of repeating or demotions, and the Amber before him was clearly more mature than the Amber he currently knew.

Could it be that the Cursed Dungeon is also a time loop dungeon?

No way.

These days, he investigated Amber’s former foster families with his True Self, and the grass on their graves was taller than their headstones already, indicating if it were a loop based on Amber’s elementary period, they couldn’t possibly have died.

Moreover, according to the guide Hou Jingchuan gave him, the timeline of the Cursed Dungeon is linear forward, and the time flow inside nearly matches one-to-one with reality, never mentioning time loops.

What exactly happened to Amber?

As he contemplated, Frank and Amber’s conversation continued.

Frank was defending his hobby:

”I don’t like violence, I just enjoy the tension and excitement horror films bring. Just because people watch horror films, does it mean they’re going to imitate the violent crimes in them?”

Amber didn’t want to argue with Frank on this matter, shrugged, and said:

”You don’t need to explain to me, I’m just completing the task Uncle Hank assigned.”

Frank snorted discontentedly, turned off the player, and followed Amber out of the multi-functional audio-visual room.

Walking in the hallway, the boy’s gaze glanced outside the window, spotting the old school building in the school.

His eyes widened, as if thinking of something, ”Sister Amber, if you promise me one thing, I’ll stop secretly watching horror films.”

Amber, curious about what could make the boy give up his hobby, asked, ”What is it?”

Frank said, ”After school, accompany me to explore the old school building!”
