Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

The days filled with resentment bore a resemblance to today’s scene.

The same evening, the same eerie old school building.

Frank walked ahead, abnormally excited, while Amber followed behind, hugging her left elbow with her right hand to fend off the chill emanating from within.

”Frank, let’s go home.”

Frank walked into the classroom one by one, showing no intention of leaving.

”Just a little longer, I just need to see the legendary rooftop of the old campus to confirm that the faceless ghost doesn’t exist, and then I’ll go home.”

Amber couldn’t understand Frank’s obsession, and she asked in confusion:

”Is such a thing worth risking to see?”

Frank turned and pleaded:

”Just let me take a look. Once I’ve seen a real haunted place, I won’t be obsessed with those fakes anymore.”

Unease appeared on Amber’s face, but she couldn’t refuse Frank. In her heart, she already regarded Frank as her own younger brother.

She cherished Frank and didn’t want to disappoint him.

”Just one look then.”

Hearing Amber relent, Frank ran toward the second-floor classroom building.

”Hey, slow down!”

Frank ran so fast that Amber’s advice couldn’t catch up with him.

He excitedly opened the first classroom door, but before he could see what was inside, dozens of vines rushed towards him, piercing his skin and burrowing into his flesh.

The resentment didn’t end there; Frank was not yet dead; he had simply become a puppet of the vines.

He stood dazed at the classroom doorway, staring at the vines filling the room, lost in thought.

”Didn’t I tell you not to run so fast?” Amber, panting heavily, caught up.

Frank turned his head to look at Amber, and with a disappointed tone, said, ”It doesn’t seem that fun here after all.”

Amber looked at Frank helplessly, ”I told you earlier, there’s nothing here. Do you want to go home now?”

Frank said, ”I still want to check out the rooftop.”

This time, Frank didn’t enter each classroom; instead, he climbed directly to the top floor via the stairs.

Inside the old school building, it didn’t seem as dangerous as the teachers had said. The two of them reached the top floor without incident, and the door leading to the rooftop wasn’t even locked.

Opening the door, they were first greeted by a stunning sunset.

Amber couldn’t help but say, ”So beautiful.”

As the two of them gazed at the sunset, Frank suddenly asked, ”Amber, will you always remember today?”

Amber was still immersed in the orange-red glow of the twilight sky, ”Of course, I’ll remember seeing the most beautiful sunset with you.”

Frank climbed onto the scaffolding used to repair the old school building’s roof, precariously making his way to the edge, half of his body extending out over the building.

He asked again, ”Amber, will you always remember today?”

This time, his voice turned somber, making Amber feel uneasy.

The moment she turned her head, she saw Frank showing a panicked expression towards her, then his body tilted backward, falling off the rooftop.

”No!”

Amber rushed to the edge of the old school building, staring at the twisted and folded body on the ground, her heart feeling as if it was being torn apart.

In the next moment, Wu Chang saw a vine pierce into Amber’s body, extracting something from inside her.

He could only see part of it, which was the emotions Amber had just expressed, wanting to treasure today.

This is where the scene recorded by resentment ended.

Wu Chang furrowed his brow, pondering the information revealed in Frank’s resentment.

One thing was clear: the vines in the old school building, or the rumored faceless ghost, just like the Mirror Killer in the new school building, were all targeting Amber.

If it was simply to kill, the vines wouldn’t need to first control Frank, then pretend to accidentally fall off the building in front of Amber.

More noteworthy is that after successfully executing its plan, the vines, unlike the Mirror Killer, did not directly attempt to kill Amber but simply absorbed the emotions and memories related to this incident from her body.

He still remembered the task prompt the system displayed the first time he gained Amber’s approval.

”You successfully protected Amber, making her no longer entirely deny herself.”

The Mirror Killer, who wanted to harm Amber, stemmed from her self-denial.

What psychological issue was the vine monster targeting that it took away her beautiful thoughts?

Could it be that she subconsciously believed she shouldn’t have these beautiful feelings and memories?

Hiss~

This child, could it really be this twisted?

Wu Chang’s attitude towards obtaining a good life from fate has always been ”If you don’t give, I’ll snatch it,” yet there are people who throw away what’s gained?

Problematic youth truly are a teacher’s nemesis.

He withdrew his focus from Frank’s resentment and pursued Amber and the others.

To avoid being discovered by Amber, he deliberately stayed behind by a dozen meters. Grace was moving quickly, and while he was examining the resentment, Grace and the others had already reached the third floor.

When he caught up to the third floor, his expression became grave.

One of the three was missing, as Mark, who was following behind Grace and Amber, was nowhere to be seen.

The two girls also noticed the boy’s disappearance and were nervously searching around.

”Hey, come out, this joke isn’t funny!”

The two searched the classrooms they’d just entered; Amber opened the storage cabinet, bent down to check under the lecture table, and looked through the potential hiding spots behind the curtains.

Meanwhile, Grace was squatting down, inspecting the student desks’ cubbyholes. It was unclear whether she was slacking off or if, in her mind, Mark had already fast-forwarded to the dismemberment stage.

Just as Wu Chang intended to tell Grace that searching like this wouldn’t find Mark, two thick vines suddenly emerged from a desk cubbyhole. Grace didn’t even have time to scream before being pulled in by the vines.
