Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 536: Chapter 264: Doomsday Prophecy

When the runes began to spin, Wu Chang understood everything.

The chaotic recordings on the screen weren’t due to the recorder accidentally hitting the record button, nor was it the recorder’s intention to achieve this effect.

The confusion in the recordings was because the scenes inside weren’t recordings, but what Colonel Johnson and the other three actually saw - a scene all four of them saw simultaneously!

Every frame in the footage involved a shift in perspective. The constant switching of perspectives, along with the varying understanding and perception of the surroundings by the main characters, made viewers feel as if they were suffering from mental pollution.

The talisman provided by the All-Knowing Crystal, through a special rotation, separated the four perspectives, clarified the sequence, and the truth unfolded before Wu Chang.

Colonel Johnson and the three others were trapped in a nightmare.

The four of them were inside a huge ruin, fleeing as if evading something, desperately running for their lives.

It was like a ghost catching game; when a person is caught by the ghost, it signifies the end of the game.

In this game, Colonel Johnson and the three others played the roles of the humans, while the roles of the ghosts were played by thirty-eight headfish people.

Johnson and the three others acted separately, avoiding the headfish people while searching for an exit from the ruins.

The headfish people moved very slowly. As long as you didn’t step within three meters of them, they wouldn’t initiate an attack.

It seemed easy to avoid them, but no matter how the four fled, no matter what direction they chose initially, they would gather in the same place ten minutes later.

That place was the square stone platform that appeared last in the video.

On the stone platform was a white conch shell, like an announcement of their failure in this round of the game.

The gazes of the four in the video all focused on the white conch shell, allowing the last few seconds of the footage to stabilize. When Wu Chang truly understood the perspectives of the four, he saw not only the white conch shell in the final television image, but also the thirty-eight headfish people standing behind it.

The headfish people held hands, chanting together in strange voices.

The sound emitted by the headfish wasn’t a human voice, nor was it a roar, but the sound of seawind and waves, similar to listening to the waves in a conch shell held to the ear.

As the sound of the waves washed over them, the four revealed expressions of pain. They wanted to plead, but couldn’t open their mouths; they wished to escape, but couldn’t even control their own gaze.

Not even wanting to admit defeat was allowed.

Only when their spirits were on the verge of collapse, they vaguely heard a voice among the waves, ”You are the chosen ones.”

Then they would return to the starting point and begin the next round of the ghost-catching game.

Over and over, without end.

The majority of Johnson and the others’ consciousnesses were trapped inside the television, with only a very small portion of their instincts remaining outside.

To get information from the four of them, they must first be awakened from the nightmare.

Wu Chang shared his discovery with Sword Star and the others, asking if they had any way to wake up the four.

Sword Star and the others exchanged glances, their expressions awkward.

Even the Four Major Organizations had no surplus resources. Whether it was Director Gao or Lei Huo, even the Sword Star, highly valued by the Management Bureau, had to spend every resource wisely, without surplus for rarely used auxiliary skills.

As for auxiliary items, they had none at all.

As one of the Four Major Organizations, the Management Bureau itself is a huge platform. Extra items obtained from dungeons are immediately listed on internal trading channels, priced by appraisers certified by the Management Bureau, and put up for sale.

It was only Wu Chang who, thinking they might come in handy, had a collection of high-level items. For other players who obtained high-level items that didn’t fit their needs, they would sell them at the first opportunity.

This was partly due to resource scarcity, requiring players to make full use of every resource produced.

Another reason was due to the overall rating during dungeon matching. In most cases, the difficulty of the Abyssal Game dungeon matched would not differ too much from the player’s current overall rating.

The player’s overall rating includes innate attributes from the attribute panel, as well as the cultivation level of learned cultivation techniques and the level of held artifacts.

Any rarely used high-level item would significantly increase the matching rating, making it easier to be placed in difficult dungeons.

But Wu Chang needn’t worry about this because he has the privileges of a game administrator. Even if he enters matches without carrying a thing, the administrator would directly match him with the highest difficulty.

Seeing none of them responding, Wu Chang sighed and thought to himself that he could only handle it on his own.

The World Dungeon was approaching; it was time to stand out more.

He took out the ”Loud Horn” and said to everyone, ”Forcibly waking them might have side effects. If anyone’s emotions are unstable upon waking, subdue them immediately.”

When everyone was ready, he blew the horn forcefully. Accompanied by the horn’s sound, the TV screen in the lounge flickered violently, then abruptly shut off,

”Item Skill: Sound of Inspiration”

”Skill Description: Blowing the horn allows the selected target to break free from spiritual control, forcibly awakening, and entering an inspired state. The effect of awakening depends on the user’s inspiration.”

”Note: If the target’s spiritual control level is greater than or equal to B-Level, there is a probability of falling into a chaotic state upon forced awakening, attacking indiscriminately, regardless of friends or foes. Please use cautiously.”

As the Shivering Icefield Dungeon, which was an A-Level dungeon on the verge of losing control, the spiritual control level Johnson and others were under was very high. Forcibly waking the four resulted in the Scholar and the Naru Wizard falling into a state of madness.
