Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 532: Chapter 262: One Week in the Dark Room (Part 2)

Upon hearing Lei Huo’s judgment, Sword Star approached Wu Chang, surprised, ”How did you get here?”

Wu Chang replied, ”I heard you’ve been trapped in the Erosion Dungeon and haven’t been able to escape yet. I guessed you might be in trouble and could use some help. Besides, I happen to know how to exploit loopholes, so I came to check on you.”

Sword Star shook his head and said, ”This is an A-Level Erosion Dungeon, and the dungeon’s space rules are bizarre. Even we find it strenuous; you shouldn’t have come.”

Wu Chang shrugged and said, ”We’re all brothers, why say so much?”

Sword Star was stunned for a moment and then smiled slightly, thinking if he recorded this and posted it on VLOG on Douyin, it would definitely attract a lot of fans.

Wu Chang followed Sword Star and Lei Huo into the base camp. The power system inside was still operating, and he saw Director Gao and Zhao Yan, who hadn’t shown up before, in the hall.

The two looked pale, and their status was not good.

Wu Chang greeted them, explained his appearance once more, and briefly informed everyone of the outside situation.

Seeing that everyone was temporarily without problems, he looked at Sword Star and Lei Huo and asked suspiciously, ”What’s wrong with Director Gao and Brother Zhao?”

Sword Star explained, ”This island is very mysterious. As soon as we entered, we could feel mental attacks coming from all directions, trying to take control of our minds.”

”Zhao Yan’s Will Attribute is somewhat low. Before we could react, he was affected by the darkness, his Inspiration surged, and he saw things he shouldn’t have seen. Fortunately, Director Gao reacted quickly and erected a Spiritual Shield, cutting off Zhao Yan and his scattered Inspiration in time, preventing the things in the darkness from breaking through his will.”

”After that, Director Gao expanded the Spiritual Shield, guiding us safely to this ruin. Director Gao’s Spiritual Power and Energy were excessively depleted and needed a break.”

”Thanks to Director Gao’s Spiritual Shield’s restraining effect on the things in the dark, we got here safely. Otherwise, let alone Zhao Yan, both Lei and I would have paid a hefty price crossing that area.”

Upon hearing this, Wu Chang’s expression turned slightly odd. The darkness on the island was such a dangerous thing that even a full-level player would find it troublesome?

And Director Gao, being so exhausted, still claims that the Spiritual Shield restrains the darkness?

The level of restraint he imagined is of the Four-sided Age Fire Lamp, or at the very least, a Night Traveling Lamp.

Seeing Wu Chang silent, Sword Star asked beside him:

”I didn’t get a chance to ask you earlier, how did you get here?”

Wu Chang pointed to the lantern in his hand and said, ”Not far into the dungeon, I followed my Inspiration and found a person buried in the snow. I got a lot of equipment from him, including this Night Traveling Lamp.”

”With it, I didn’t feel anything weird along the way, except that it was a bit cold.”

He placed the Night Traveling Lamp, the notebook, and the map he found on Wells on the table, glanced at everyone, and added, ”Before coming here, I thought everyone was like this.”

Silence.

Sword Star and the other three took turns holding the Night Traveling Lamp, and after reading the Item Description on it, the hall fell terrifyingly quiet.

It turns out that not far into the dungeon, one could pick up such a critical item, so what was all their thrilling journey about?

Adding drama?

Lei Huo hadn’t had much direct contact with Wu Chang before, only hearing Director Gao say that in the previous Erosion Dungeon, Wu Chang broke through it with meticulous observation and bold operations, taking an unorthodox approach to resolve the dungeon.

At the time, Lei Huo only had an impression of Wu Chang but hadn’t experienced it firsthand.

Now he had.

No wonder that a newcomer like Wu Chang, who joined with a D- rating, had the confidence to say Sword Star might need his help.

At first, he thought it was just young people’s naive brotherly loyalty. Now he just wanted to say, why didn’t you come earlier?

If he had been the one to return with the message instead of Zhao Yan, wouldn’t there have been fewer issues?

Finally, Wu Chang broke the silence first and asked, ”What did you mean when you observed me at the door just now and said ’the real deal’?”

This time, Lei Huo explained to Wu Chang, ”On the way to this ruin, I saw human figures flickering in the darkness. They would morph into people I know, trying to talk to me, telling me to go into the darkness and find them. Every time I saw them, I would forget my situation and fall into a special illusion, subconsciously wanting to leave the group to answer his call.”

”After we entered here, that thing followed us but was afraid of the light source here and didn’t dare to enter, only occasionally transforming into familiar figures, roaming around, looking for a chance when we were alone.”

Wu Chang asked further, ”What’s that guy’s strength like?”

Lei Huo shook his head and said, ”In terms of direct combat power, it’s not strong, only around a level 20 ordinary player. But its focus is on mental attacks, hard to defend against, and difficult to kill completely, making it very tricky in conjunction with the island’s special rules.”

Wu Chang looked at Lei Huo suspiciously and tentatively asked, ”Deputy Director Lei, you seem to know quite a lot about this place.”

Lei Huo gave a bitter smile and said, ”It’s not that I’m familiar with this place, but this dungeon is extremely famous, once topping the dungeon popularity charts, especially this island, nicknamed ’A Week in the Little Black Room.’

Wu Chang grew interested. Although he was strong enough, his time in the Abyssal Game was short, making him just a rookie compared to veterans like Lei Huo, who had entered over a hundred dungeons.
