Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 509: Chapter 254: You Really Oppose Me? (3)

...

Subsequent information about the plane portal entrance, time flow rate, and instance output are consistent with the time of plane at Sanctuary No. 88, with the sole difference being the last hint.

”Detection: Player has obtained temporary management rights of the Desolate Realm. These rights are upgraded, allowing transition between the Desolate Realm and the Realm of Reason through the Pillar of the Present World in advance.”

”Note: The area known as the Divine Hall of Truth within the Realm of Reason in the Crimson Courtyard contains unsafe zones. The exploration risk is high as the player hasn’t completed ascension; proceed with caution.”

Another Pillar of the Present World again, Wu Chang rubbed his chin; the Pillars of the Present World from the Four Major Organizations are constantly being destroyed, while the personal Pillars of the Present World he holds are continuously increasing. When he reaches the Realm of Reason, selling special passages to the Desolate Realm might be the road to wealth.

Hymn Company has become his private plane, thus Abyssal Game did not rush him to leave immediately, which is perfect because he still has unfinished business to conclude during this time.

Schultz had already anticipated his possible failure and preemptively prepared. The chairman badge he handed to Wu Chang was not just a simple badge. At the moment of his death, all the rights Schultz was entitled to as chairman of Hymn Company were fully transferred to Wu Chang, accompanied by an internal company announcement.

The elevator that only Schultz could open in the past automatically opened as Wu Chang approached.

Wu Chang followed the elevator back to Schultz’s office. As he walked out of the office, he happened to meet the bewildered assistants.

The assistants working on the 99th floor were completely reliant on Schultz’s existence. They held high positions and could issue orders to any department within the company based on Schultz’s instructions.

However, their power came entirely from Schultz; without Schultz, they only had empty positions and could not command any department management or even Gold Medal Employees to do anything for them.

During the previous battle, they witnessed Schultz heavily injured, and received Schultz’s internal message transferring the chairmanship to Sean, which made them extremely worried.

They were not only worried about Schultz’s condition but also their own futures.

As soon as they saw Wu Chang come out wearing the chairman’s badge, a few senior assistants stepped forward and, probing, asked: ”Sean, Chairman, is Mr. Schultz alright.”

Wu Chang said expressionlessly: ”Not very good.”

The opposite side continued to ask: ”Then is there anything we can do for you?”

Wu Chang said: ”You just need to keep busy with your own work. I am the chairman of Hymn Company, leave the troublesome matters to me.”

Wu Chang’s words seemed to have a kind of magic power; after hearing them, everyone calmed down and returned to their workstations, busy with the unfinished work.

Watching Wu Chang enter the elevator and move to the lower level, the assistant who spoke earlier said softly:

”Do any of you feel that Mr. Sean seems to have changed?”

Another assistant blushed slightly and said softly:

”I agree; the aura he had just now was so strong. No wonder the chairman chose him as a successor.”

Wu Chang took the elevator down to the 99th level. Through internal monitoring, he knew Hymn Company’s senior management was all here.

When Schultz left the 99th-floor office, the floor-to-ceiling window was smashed, and the window hadn’t yet been repaired. However, the managers previously present here hadn’t left.

Seeing Wu Chang swipe open the door and walk in, the expressions on everyone’s faces were varied.

Due to Schultz’s residual authority, most dared not question Schultz’s choice; Level Eight department managers largely lowered their heads, bowing to Wu Chang.

Nine-Level partners Jeffrey and Hughes were first to recognize Wu Chang’s identity, nodding and greeting:

”Chairman.”

But the remaining partners had various emotions in their eyes: confusion, dissatisfaction, even malice.

They did not voluntarily greet Wu Chang, nor did Wu Chang care. He looked at everyone and said:

”I assume you’ve all received the news about Mr. Schultz. Due to the failure of the Praise Poem project, I will manage Hymn Company for the upcoming period.”

”I realize some of you may misunderstand me. I am a very democratic person. If anyone feels discontented, feel free to speak now. For Hymn Company’s development, if there are sufficient numbers, I’ll start an internal election and conduct voting.”

”I’ve finished speaking. Who supports? Who opposes?”

As soon as Wu Chang finished speaking, a man in his fifties with graying temples walked out. He had a dignified expression, a standard old-money style, quite different from the technically-oriented Jeffrey and Hughes.

Nine-level partner Alfie, the second son of a wealthy family. Unable to inherit the family business and unwilling to be mediocre, he entered Hymn Company and ascended to the rank of Nine-Level partner by skill.

Alfie looked at Wu Chang with disdain, saying: ”Sean, my words are not aimed at you, but Hymn Company is everyone’s hard work, and all promotions have regulations that no one can violate.”

”The chairman has already broken the rules many times for you. If it continues, it will look bad. The words may hurt, but even if I don’t say it, others would think the same.”

”When the company was small and growing, you weren’t here. When the company was in trouble, you weren’t here. Even when we bet everything and fought alongside Mr. Schultz to take down those guys just now, you weren’t here.”

”Where were you? You were bloodless, gloriously waiting to assume the chairman position. Even if Mr. Schultz were here, I would directly tell him that I disagree.”

Wu Chang nodded, understanding Alfie’s anger: Dirty work was done by others, and yet he didn’t contribute anything yet enjoyed the fruits due to his good birth.

If it were him, he wouldn’t be happy either.

”Are there others?”

Another Nine-Level partner stood out and simply said: ”I have the same thoughts as Mr. Alfie.”

The two have substantial prestige in Hymn Company, each having a portion of followers. Upon seeing their stance, five Level Eight department managers also stood out in opposition.

There should have been more, but under the unfriendly gaze of Jeffrey and Hughes, many who were about to step forward put their feet back down.

The two knew about Wu Chang’s diagnosis and understood the abnormalities in his Talent zone. They trusted that since Schultz dared to hand over the position to Wu Chang, Wu Chang would surely be able to hold it.

Wu Chang scanned around and asked: ”Are there no others?”

Seeing no response, he turned to the remaining managers, sincerely saying:

”As Mr. Alfie stated, my previous actions were incorrect. However, since Schultz entrusts the responsibility to me, I assuredly won’t betray his expectations. Today’s crisis is my opportunity to prove myself to all of you, you can witness it with your own eyes.”

Alfie et al. frowned at the sentiment—they opposed for substantial reason; with more than six dissenters, it counted as a significant controversy eligible for internal voting. Yet Wu Chang acted as if all was well.

After declaring to the crowd, Wu Chang turned toward Alfie et al., displaying a surprised smile.

”You truly oppose?”

Before Alfie et al. could react, a small-sized Praise Poem appeared in the room, black below and white above, four meters tall. With a wave of its hand, it swept the seven dissenters out through the broken window.

He smiled amiably at the stunned audience, then turned to Geoffrey, saying:

”Mr. Geoffrey, Schultz informed me earlier that if any issues arise in the company, your assistance would be invaluable. Please contact all media present here today; in half an hour, I intend to hold a press conference regarding today’s events.”

Half an hour later, all media personnel present in Welldore City, willing or otherwise, were invited by Hymn Company to the hall on the tenth floor.

Outside the conference room, Geoffrey said to Wu Chang: ”Chairman Sean, everything is ready.”

Wu Chang nodded, saying: ”Thank you for the effort.”

Before leaving the instance plane, he must complete Raymond’s hidden sub-task first.
