Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 515: Chapter 256: Growth Equipment Upgrade and Titan_2

Wu Chang flipped through the book a couple of times, then closed it with a furrowed brow.

He couldn’t understand it.

Within the notes added by Schultz, there were not only insights from a humanities perspective but also numerous formulas and principles of biology and medicine.

God knows how Schultz was able to derive these scientific inspirations from a literary work.

He looked at the book in front of him and guessed that the reward item might be it, but he didn’t expect its function to enhance growth-type items rather than boost his Spiritual Light.

Virtue and Sin, clearly, contains two opposing elements, along with growth-type items, naturally leading Wu Chang to think of the Saint’s Legacy Mask.

Upon retrieving the Saint’s Legacy Mask, the book in his hand indeed reacted, prompting a pop-up window, ”Enhance Saint’s Legacy Mask?”

Since the item’s notes mentioned no negative effects, it should not affect Erin, right?

”Enhance.”

As Wu Chang chose to enhance, Virtue and Sin transformed into a stream of light, piercing into the Saint’s Legacy Mask.

The previous enhancement of the Saint’s Legacy Mask was done using the Holy Light Reforged Talisman and Erin’s Holy Mark, filled with an aura of light, causing the white area of the mask, where Erin resided, to be covered in golden runes, looking sacred and solemn, while the black area remained plain.

The same mask, yet its style was starkly divided.

Under the enhancement of Virtue and Sin, the runes on the mask began to flow, with some belonging to the white area ”flowing” to the black area, balancing the appearance between the black and white areas.

The distinctly divided black and white areas on the mask slowly moved like the yin-yang fish in a Tai Chi symbol, with their junctions starting to blur, gradually becoming intertwined.

It’s akin to human nature, as both virtue and sin coexist within the human heart, just as light inevitably harbors darkness. Without understanding sin, there is no concept of virtue.

The cycle of black and white continues, and a saint is not born flawless but is someone who can see the sin within their heart, confront and acknowledge its existence, suppress the nature of evil, and express and guide the nature of good, thus becoming a saint.

「Item Name: Saint’s Legacy Mask」

「Item Description: A mask recording the Saintess Projection and the man-made Holy Statue. Its creation was blessed by light. Wearing this mask, you will be seen as a messenger of the saint walking on the ground, garnering great favor from the Holy Light Faction.」

「Note: It sees through the essence of virtue and sin in the soul, enabling the wearer to gradually break free from blind compliance to gods and explore the inherent divinity within human nature.」

「Artifact Level: A (growth-capable).」

「Item Skills: Rebirth of True Self.」

「Skill Description: Omitted.」

「Item Skills: Immortal Transformation.」

「Skill Description: Omitted.」

「Item Skills: Saintess Projection.」

「Skill Description: Due to some special reasons, Saintess Erin and the Shadow Mask have merged together, becoming a permanent artifact spirit, forever part of the item. Erin can enjoy all the permissions of the True Self. You can summon Erin to participate in battles anytime and anywhere, and Erin’s level and attributes will change according to the item user’s level and attributes.」

「Note: Erin’s current state attributes can enjoy the permanent benefits affecting the player within the dungeon.」

「Item Skills: Shadow of Balance (empty).」

「Skill Description: Where there is light, there will be darkness. Where there is virtue, there will be sin. You can acquire a second permanent artifact spirit, but the target’s soul must be in a conscious state, voluntarily becoming the artifact spirit for the acquisition process to take effect.」

Wu Chang played with the Saint’s Legacy Mask, the corners of his mouth almost reaching his ears.

Schultz truly is his cousin, even after leaving the dungeon, the rewards he left are top-tier.

The enhanced Saint’s Legacy Mask is indeed doubled in strength.

Firstly, the enhancement for Erin, although Erin already completed the True Divine Body, being a man-made god and given her short time of creation, she hasn’t had enough belief to support high-intensity battles as a god.

Most of the time, Erin will continue to act in her normal state.

Originally, Erin’s attributes in her normal state were only linked to the overall attributes of Wu Chang in his normal state, unable to benefit from Master of Breaking the Game and the recently acquired ”Survivor’s Revenge” permanent bonuses.

But after this round of enhancement, Erin’s attributes in her normal state will also change accordingly, as the enhancements between different items are calculated multiplicatively, this alone enhances Erin by 65% in her normal state.

Erin’s enhancement is evident, but the upgrade from ”Shadow” skill to ”Shadow of Balance” brings even greater enhancement.

Due to the last upgrade of the Shadow-Facing Face, it used the Holy Light Reforged Talisman, blending Erin’s soul and Holy Mark into the white part of the mask, while the black part was left unmodified as the skill still retained the original skill of Shadow-Facing Face, ”Shadow”.

Shadow can record the target’s silhouette and summon the recorded silhouette for combat, but the maximum power displayed by this silhouette cannot exceed Level 17.

At that time it didn’t seem problematic, but Wu Chang’s speed of advancement was too rapid, the difficulty of the dungeons he entered skyrocketed, soon causing the Shadow skill to become obsolete.

Level 17 projections, even in B-Level uncontrolled dungeons, were useless, let alone in A-Level Erosion Dungeons, or the Pillar of the Present World dungeons.

Using a Level 17 projection to combat the remnants of the Evil God, Nest, or members of the Bright Society is imaginably humorous.

Especially after Wu Chang underwent the Spiritual Ability Activation Surgery, the projection he created with his Talent could completely surpass the Shadow projection.
