The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 2645: Chapter 2645: Wanyan Ningzi (5)

Since King Han’s Queen Yunxiong was present, Peng Jing could only sit behind them. As for Prince Rong, he didn’t have a queen for the moment, but Shen Yizhen still had to sit behind Qi Jingrong.

It didn’t take long before a young lady trotted over and sat down right next to Qi Jingrong; it was none other than his future queen, Bai Xingxing.

Yang Ruxin moved her gaze away as well. What could she say—this life was something they had schemed and scrambled for on their own, so whether it turned out good or bad, they’d have to swallow it themselves.

Very soon, pretty much everyone had arrived. Those who knew each other exchanged a quick greeting; those unfamiliar would at least nod when their eyes met.

Yang Ruxin also noticed something: Wanyan Ningshuang was gone. Standing beside Wanyan Liang was another girl whose looks were even more dazzling; she should be the one Jin Country sent to take Wanyan Ningshuang’s place.

When the Emperor, the Empress Dowager, and the concubines had taken their seats, everyone rose to bow and shout their blessings. The Emperor, in high spirits, told them all to rise, then announced the start of the banquet.

Naturally, the first item on the program for the banquet was offering birthday felicitations.

First came the imperial clan and royal relatives, then the princes and Ministers, going down the line to kowtow and present gifts. These gifts were all collected and registered by clerks below, and would not actually be brought up into the main hall.

Last came the Envoys from Jin Country.

Wanyan Liang rose and first presented the birthday gifts—a big chest filled with all kinds of gemstones and four exotic beauties. Then he regretfully explained that Wanyan Ningshuang had suddenly fallen ill and couldn’t complete the marriage alliance, and had already been rushed back to Jin Country. Another princess had been brought in her place, the girl standing beside him.

Of course everyone understood that when the people of Jin Country came, there was no way they’d bring only one candidate for the marriage alliance. They would definitely have a backup. This girl, then, was the backup.

The girl from Jin Country stood and bowed. ”Honorable Emperor of Daxuan, I am Wanyan Ningzi, youngest daughter of King Jin. I hope to become Your Majesty’s daughter-in-law.”

Yang Ruxin couldn’t help laughing a little. This girl was pretty straightforward.

And just hearing the name, it was obvious she was one of Wanyan Liang’s clan.

More importantly, this girl’s beauty was wild and flamboyant, but her personality clearly wasn’t as domineering as Wanyan Ningshuang’s. On the contrary, she seemed a bit forthright; odds were a lot of men would prefer this type.

Sure enough, the eyes of many men in the hall lit up.

The Emperor was naturally pleased, rewarding her with two bolts of Cloud Brocade, while the Empress Dowager bestowed a string of Buddha Beads.

Still, by rights, when a princess had already come out and so bluntly confessed to your sons, shouldn’t you, as the father, make some sort of move? Yet the Emperor didn’t mention it at all, as if he’d completely forgotten about the marriage alliance, only urging everyone to hurry up and eat, drink, and enjoy themselves.

Wanyan Liang also knew he couldn’t push too hard, so he could only sit down, gloomily drinking, eating, and watching the performances. In fact, he regretted it as well; he should have pushed Ningzi out first from the very beginning, then things probably wouldn’t have dragged on until now.

Entertainment in this era was just the usual; naturally, after the dancing girls and singers performed, it was the turn of the noble ladies to display their talents—nothing more than playing instruments, singing, and dancing.

Even though she found it boring, Yang Ruxin still watched with Erni with great interest, the two of them quietly commenting on which one was a bit better.

After about three rounds of wine, the newly arrived Princess Ningzi finally stood up. She first offered a formal bow, then stated that she wished to present a song and dance to His Majesty the Emperor.

Emperor Xuanjing was, of course, delighted.

Soon, a Maid from Jin Country brought up a pipa. A carpet was laid out in the center of the main hall, and drummers were arranged off to one side.
