The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 2640: Chapter 2640: Forgiveness (8)

It must be said that different people match different doors. Even if Meng Shuang’s perspective is slightly better than the County Head of Anning, it’s just slightly; they are both similarly narrow-minded at heart.

Yang Ruxin remained silent; after all, she had already offended the County Head of Anning, and that old woman even went to the Empress Dowager to speak ill of her, clearly intending to get rid of her. Therefore, she had no intention of reconciling with the Xu Family, nor would she give them any face.

However, thinking about Xu Huairui, she did have an idea.

Soon, Gao Zhangshi and Gao Jiaoshi arrived.

Everyone came over to greet them, which eased the awkwardness between the two.

”You all continue playing.” Gao Zhangshi sat down, ”I just enjoy watching you pretty young girls having fun. Youth is such a wonderful thing.”

”Does the madam want to come and draw a few strokes as well?” Lin Manyi said with a smile, ”Back in the day, the madam’s paintings were truly exceptional.”

”I’m too old,” the old madam waved her hand, ”Which of the young girls today is not multi-talented? What am I?” Although she said this, she still got up and took up a brush at the table to start painting.

The young women gathered around her.

The old madam, who looked leisurely and relaxed a moment ago, suddenly exuded a different aura the moment she picked up the brush. Her aged hands became lively, and with a few swift strokes, a painting of cold plum blossoms proudly standing against the snow appeared on the paper.

It was clear at a glance that she was an expert.

Yang Ruxin didn’t know much about art, but she could tell that this painting was of a much higher caliber than those of the other noble girls present.

Erni was excited beyond words: ”Big sister, the old madam from the Gao Family is amazing.”

The old madam heard this and turned to look at Erni: ”Is this Xuexue? If you like it, I’ll give it to you.”

”Really?” Erni was thrilled and quickly rushed over to bow to the elder, ”Thank you, madam.”

The old madam laughed and ordered someone to have the painting mounted and sent to the Gu Family.

Erni thought to herself that she should give a return gift. She didn’t know how to do much else, but she could embroider, so she decided to send an embroidery piece as a return gift later.

No one mentioned Xu Huairui’s matter from beginning to end, and no one paid any attention to Meng Shuang either. She could only stand there awkwardly, smiling, unable to speak or leave.

Lunch was sumptuous, and after everyone ate and drank while chatting and laughing, the time passed by.

Yang Ruxin proposed to leave, as she still had three little ones at home waiting to be fed, and her chest was painfully swollen.

The Gao Family did not hold her back, but the nanny Liu gave Yang Ruxin a sandalwood box, saying it was for the three little ones from the old madam, and that one cannot refuse a gift from the elders.

Yang Ruxin accepted it without pretense, thinking that the gifts for the three little ones had already filled a storeroom.

As for the Xu Family’s matter, she didn’t really care about it.

However, early the next morning, Meng Shuang surprisingly brought Xu Huairui to visit, clearly stating that they came to apologize to Ye Zhou.

Although Xu Huairui was unwilling, she dared not defy her mother, who had made up her mind, especially after her father also reprimanded her. There was nothing she could do; she knew she was nothing without the Xu Family.

Ye Zhou was not flustered at all and calmly accepted their apology gift.

”If Huairui is willing to correct her mistakes, then we should keep in touch more often,” Yang Ruxin, uncharacteristically, went over and took Xu Huairui’s hand with a kindly smile, ”Being friends is better than being enemies, right?”
