The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 2608: Chapter 2608: Trying the Prescribed Medicine (5)

”The Emperor is indeed benevolent,” Eunuch Ping was momentarily stunned but quickly understood the Emperor’s intention and hurriedly responded, ”It’s also Gu Daren’s good fortune.” You know, the Medical Officer is the head of the Imperial Hospital, usually attending to the Emperor and the Empress Dowager. Now going to treat a minister is truly a favor.

Emperor Xuanjing, however, rubbed his chin, his eyes revealing a sense of amusement. Benevolent? Hmm, he is indeed quite benevolent, but he wonders how Xinxin, that girl, would react knowing he sent someone to treat her father-in-law.

Would she say he’s meddling in other people’s business?

Thinking of this, the Emperor’s mouth twitched. That girl might even call him a nosy old man behind his back.

Minister Office.

Gu Sheng lay on the bed, feeling cold even wrapped in two layers of quilts. Just as a servant was about to cover him with another quilt, he suddenly felt hot again, causing everyone to rush around taking off quilts and opening windows.

At that moment, Eunuch Ping entered with Hen Bingwen: ”This humble servant greets Minister Gu.”

Although Gu Sheng was ill, strangely his mind was clear, only his body was uncomfortably uncontrollable. Seeing Eunuch Ping, he struggled to get up, but unfortunately couldn’t.

”Minister Gu, you should lie down,” Eunuch Ping assumed a respectful pose, ”The Emperor sent me to visit you, Minister Gu, and asked Hen Yizheng to check on you.”

”Thank you, Your Majesty,” Gu Sheng said with difficulty.

Eunuch Ping stepped back two paces and glanced at Hen Bingwen.

Hen Bingwen nodded, then sat down by the bed, took out a wrist rest and placed it on his knee, pulled Gu Sheng’s hand over to place it on the wrist rest, and began to feel his pulse.

Gu Sheng looked at Hen Bingwen with anticipation. He had been seen by two doctors and the medicine prescribed had no effect. He also thought about seeking an Imperial Physician but dared not.

After a long while, Hen Bingwen released Gu Sheng’s hand and stood up: ”Minister Gu has a cold invasion affecting the lung-protection system, the defense yang being suppressed, disharmony of defense and nutrient systems, pathogenic factors contending... ”

”Hen Yizheng, what’s wrong with Minister Gu?” Eunuch Ping, without medical knowledge, was a bit confused after listening for a long time, and hastily asked.

”It’s just a cold,” Hen Bingwen promptly paused, ”However, Minister Gu was previously internally frustrated, causing an imbalance of yin and yang, so it’s a bit severe. I’ll prescribe two doses to try first.”

Then, after reviewing the previous two prescriptions, he added two more ingredients and instructed a servant to get the medicine.

”Minister Gu, take a good rest. I have to return to the palace to report,” Eunuch Ping said.

Gu Sheng hurriedly expressed his gratitude, then had someone give a large red envelope and courteously sent them off.

Strangely, while the previous two doctors’ medicines had no effect, after taking one dose of Hen Bingwen’s medicine, Gu Sheng no longer alternated between feeling hot and cold and could at least sleep.

However, a full recovery was not so simple.

Thus, after Eunuch Ping brought Hen Yizheng for a second consultation on the second day, on the third day’s court session, Gu Sheng’s resignation letter was read out, and the Emperor approved it on the spot, directly promoting Xun Chengwei, the Right Vice Minister of the Ministry of Rites, to Minister of Rites, replacing Gu Sheng’s position.

Although this somewhat violated the regulations, as officials’ promotions typically require the Ministry of Personnel to submit a list for assessment, usually taking three months to a year before formal appointments can be made, such a direct nomination and appointment seemed to overstep authority. But he was the Emperor; the rules were his to make. Who dared to have any objections? Even if they did, they’d have to stifle them.
