The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 1142: Chapter 1142: Learned a Lesson (4)

Yang Ruxin frowned slightly, but her expression did not visibly change. She merely watched Guan Tongshi quietly.

”Mother,” Guan Qingshu frowned, wanting to stop Guan Tongshi from continuing.

”Did I speak incorrectly?” Guan Tongshi scoffed, ”Xinxin, my Qingyue has been looking forward to this since before the new year. And now, you suddenly come here and say it’s not appropriate. Isn’t that terribly unfair?”

”Mother,” Guan Qingyue hurriedly interrupted Guan Tongshi, ”What are you talking about? What’s unfair? There must be a reason behind Xinxin’s actions, you...”

”What reason? If she says you can’t do it, then you can’t,” Guan Tongshi glanced at her daughter, ”Only you would be so naive.”

Yang Ruxin remained silent from beginning to end. She was thankful that she hadn’t actually let Guan Qingyue work in her shop, as that would surely have made it difficult to send the gods away after inviting them in.

”Xinxin, I want to know why it’s not suitable?” Guan Qingyue still couldn’t help but ask.

”You are an unmarried girl, and the chef in the store is a man. Although there will be other people, after all, it’s not good for an unwed man and woman to be together... it could affect your reputation,” Yang Ruxin explained patiently.

”Xinxin, I understand,” Guan Qingshu rushed to say, ”It’s okay, don’t mind it...”

”How could it be okay?” Guan Qingyue suddenly burst into tears, ”Do you know I’m too scared to even step outside now? I’m afraid of running into the Wang Family... I thought I could leave the village, escape from here, but Xinxin, now you’re telling me I can’t. What am I supposed to do?”

Yang Ruxin frowned, ”Are you blaming me?”

”No, I am just very disappointed. You gave me hope, only to shatter it. Are you trying to drive me to my death?” Guan Qingyue shook her head hastily, ”You are capable, you can disregard anyone, but what about me? I can’t...”

”That’s why I say you’re foolish...” Guan Tongshi didn’t miss the opportunity to cast a disdainful look at her daughter.

”So what you’re saying is, I was wrong to save you, to help your family out in the first place?” Yang Ruxin’s face turned cold as she stood up, ”Am I supposed to be responsible for your whole lives just because I saved you? Should I just give you silver every month to support you?”

Guan Qingyue immediately stopped crying, ”Xinxin, that’s not what I meant, I...”

”Act as if I had never been here...” With those words, Yang Ruxin turned and walked away.

Du Man also looked at the Guan Family with disdain and hurriedly followed Yang Ruxin out.

Guan Qingyue’s halted sobs started up again.

”Xinxin...” Guan Qingshu saw this and quickly chased after her.

After Yang Ruxin left the Guan Household, she laughed at herself. ”Sometimes it’s really not worth being the good person...”

”The young mistress is just too kind-hearted. That Guan Family doesn’t seem like good people at all...” Du Man’s face was full of scorn. She had heard about how the young mistress had greatly helped their family.

”It just shows the worst in human nature,” Yang Ruxin sighed, ”Actually, I’m quite pleased with this.” She paused, ”I’ve always prided myself on understanding people’s hearts, so sometimes my actions are presumptuous. This might be okay for those who truly understand me, but not for others. Not everyone deserves the kindness I offer to them... So, consider it a lesson learned...”

”Xinxin.” Just then, Guan Qingshu caught up from behind.
