The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 1071: Chapter 1071: Monk (9)

Yang Ruxin wasn’t tired, and seeing that the kids were also very energetic, she agreed, leading the group of little tykes out of the meditation room and back to the temple’s main entrance.

”Big Sister, who are those fairies?” Sini asked curiously, pointing at the two Door Gods at the entrance of the temple.

”Those are the Generals Heng and Ha,” Yang Ruxin took on the role of a tour guide, ”They are also called Door Gods.”

”What peculiar names,” Xiaofeng said, craning his neck to look at the two huge statues.

”Legend has it they were both generals under King Zhou of Shang, who later devoutly learned magical powers and became deities. General Heng is called Zheng Lun, and his master, the True Man of Overcoming Misfortune, taught him a spell called ’Two Qi in Aperture,’ which allows him to emit two beams of white light from his nose that can suck out human souls... General Ha, Chen Qi, has yellow energy in his belly, and with one breath, he can also extract human souls... It’s quite powerful...”

”Hmm!” Sini suddenly scrunched up her nose and hummed.

”Ha!” Erya, held by Du Man, followed with a ha.

The sight was simply adorable.

Past the Hall of the Door Gods was the first major hall – the Hall of Heavenly Kings, which housed statues of the Four Heavenly Kings. In the hearts of the common people, the Four Heavenly Kings symbolized prosperity and good weather, while two side halls enshrined the God of Marriage and God of the Land respectively.

Behind the Hall of Heavenly Kings was the Guanyin Hall...

”Sis, I forgot to ask you, when did this era stop following historical records?” Yu Qingge suddenly leaned in close to Yang Ruxin, ”Last time when I talked about Tang poetry and Song lyrics, you interrupted me, and I’ve been meaning to ask you ever since.”

”After the fall of the Northern Song, logically Zhao Gou should have established the Southern Song, but there was no Southern Song here; instead, Zhao Cheng established the Great Qian Dynasty...” Yang Ruxin glanced at Yu Qingge, ”So as for Li Bai, Du Fu, and the others’ poems, don’t even think about borrowing them; every scholar has read them. If you are familiar with poets from the Ming and Qing dynasties, though, you might be able to borrow from them.”

”Forget it,” Yu Qingge stuck out her tongue upon hearing this, ”I’m a science student, and my memory of poetry is limited to ’goose, goose, goose’ and ’before my bed, the moonlight’s bright.’ Let’s not talk about borrowing...”

Yang Ruxin laughed.

”Big sister, look at all the hands on this Bodhisattva...” At that moment, Sini ran over and tugged at Yang Ruxin.

”That’s the Thousand-Handed, Thousand-Eyed Guanyin... it’s one of the incarnations of the Bodhisattva Guanyin, also known as the Great Compassion Guanyin, who is said to be able to remove the three barriers of beings in Hell...”

”Amitabha.” Just then, the sound of a Buddhist chant sounded, and a round-faced Monk walked by, smiling warmly at Yang Ruxin, ”The benefactor seems to have Buddha-nature.”

Yu Qingge quickly hid behind Yang Ruxin upon seeing this.

Yang Ruxin frowned.

”Sis, these enlightened Monks are very strange; they can often see into past and future lives. I don’t want to be seen through, so I’m going to skedaddle...” After whispering a few words to Yang Ruxin, Yu Qingge turned and ran.

Yang Ruxin was exasperated – surely this girl had read too many novels? She didn’t chase after her but instead nodded slightly at the Monk, ”The master flatters me, I merely know a few anecdotes...”

”Hehe,” the Monk laughed, ”Knowing itself is a form of Buddha-nature, yet many do not know, and are unaware of their ignorance...”

Yang Ruxin scratched her head, finding that talking with a spiritually enlightened person was exhausting, full of enigmas. She should have taken the opportunity to leave like Yu Qingge, but now she couldn’t. Instead, she touched her nose and said, ”The Saint said: ’To know what you know and not know what you don’t know is wisdom!’”
