Urban Divine Doctor Descends the Mountain

Chapter 1188: Chapter 1187 The Things are Gone

Several hours later, Lin Dong and Medical Saint Jin Yuan arrived at the capital of the Paocai Nation.

The residence of Medical Saint Jin Yuan was located precisely in the capital of their Paocai Nation.

And so was the wealthy Li Family.

After getting off the plane, Medical Saint Jin Yuan said, ”These past two days have been strange. I’ve been trying to call my daughter and adopted son, but I can’t get through.”

”It’s not unusual for me not to get through to my daughter, as she often runs around outside having fun. It’s often hard to contact her, but my adopted son—it shouldn’t be like this.”

”I don’t know why.”

He had intended to call his adopted son and daughter in advance, to ask them to pick him and his guest up at the airport.

But since the calls didn’t go through, they had no choice but to hail a taxi and head for the Jin Family’s home.

About half an hour later, Lin Dong followed Jin Yuan to the front of a courtyard.

This courtyard looked somewhat like the architecture from the Tang Dynasty in their Dragon Country, surrounded by a red wall, its main gate made of varnished redwood, with two stone lions at the door.

However, the front door was tightly closed, which was unexpected for Jin Yuan.

The main gate of their Jin Family was never closed unless it was after ten o’clock at night.

”What is Old Song doing? It’s so late; why hasn’t he opened the door?” Jin Yuan muttered to himself.

Old Song was the elderly gatekeeper of their house, specifically responsible for opening and closing the gate each day.

But now, it was almost noon, yet today’s main gate was still unopened.

Lin Dong smelled blood in the air and said solemnly, ”Doctor Jin Yuan, something is not right at your home.”

Hearing this, Jin Yuan’s face changed instantly, thinking of the calls he couldn’t get through to his adopted son and daughter over the past two days.

He hurriedly shouted into the interior, ”Weishan, Xiushan, are you there? Open the door quickly!”

Jin Weishan was his adopted son, and Jin Xiushan was his biological daughter!

As Jin Yuan pounded on the door and realized it was locked from inside, he continued to call out his adopted son and daughter’s names.

But there was no response for a long time.

Lin Dong quickly said, ”Doctor Jin Yuan, it seems something has happened inside; I’ll break down this gate right now!”

Jin Yuan nodded, ”I have to trouble you, Chief Lin!”

Lin Dong struck out with one palm, and the door that had been locked from the inside immediately fell down.

Jin Yuan saw that there was no one in the courtyard and rushed in.

At the same time, he continued to call out for his adopted son and daughter, but still, there was no reply.

Lin Dong urged, ”Doctor Jin Yuan, go to the backyard!”

Lin Dong noticed that the smell of blood was coming from the direction of the backyard.

Upon hearing this, Medical Saint Jin Yuan hurriedly ran towards the backyard, with Lin Dong following behind him.

When the two arrived in the backyard, Doctor Jin Yuan let out a heartbreaking scream.

”Ah... What... What happened? Old Song, Mingzhu, Deshan...”

The scene before them made even a person like Medical Saint Jin Yuan verge on collapse, as many corpses were piled in the backyard—all of them were people from the Jin Family residence.

At the moment, Medical Saint Jin Yuan thought of his daughter and adopted son, he frantically searched for the two, fearing immensely that he would see them among the pile of corpses.

However, after a long search, he did not find his daughter’s or adopted son’s bodies.

Those who died were all servants of his household.

”How could this happen? What in the world is going on? Why have all the servants of my household died who killed them?”

”And where are Weishan and Xiushan?”

Medical Saint Jin Yuan, esteemed as the leading figure in Eastern Medicine, was now unable to contain his emotional breakdown. Although he had witnessed the joys and sorrows of patients, the separations of life and death.

Yet, faced with the catastrophe of today, he still couldn’t withstand it.

Lin Dong understood his emotions. It was natural for anyone who had gone abroad and returned to encounter such a tragedy at home to react like he did.

Suddenly, Medical Saint Jin Yuan thought of something. He hastily said, ”Chief Lin, please come with me quickly.”

He led Lin Dong to the location of his study room!

Upon reaching the study, his face turned deathly pale when he found the door to the room open.

His heart filled with foreboding, he rushed in, headed to the wall where there used to be a hidden door, but now, the hidden door was smashed open.

”This is bad!” Medical Saint Jin Yuan’s face turned to one of horror. He reached the hidden door and, seeing the empty hidden compartment, could not help but say, tremblingly:

”The items are gone, the items are gone!!”

Lin Dong’s face also changed. He quickly asked, ”Doctor Jin Yuan, the items you’re talking about, wouldn’t they be what my father left for me?”

Medical Saint Jin Yuan nodded and hoarsely said to Lin Dong, ”Chief Lin, I’m sorry.”

”I’m sorry to my benefactor; the item, it’s gone, it’s gone!”

Lin Dong’s face was ugly, but at that time, he knew he couldn’t blame Medical Saint Jin Yuan.

He said, ”Doctor Jin Yuan, do not blame yourself just yet. Let us quickly investigate and clarify the situation.”

”Let’s find out who would commit such an act!”

Jin Yuan nodded firmly, ”Damn it, who did this! I will make sure they pay a dire price!”

Lin Dong nodded, ”I will also make them pay a dire price!”

The perpetrator killed so many people, and it was obvious that the motive was to steal the items his father had left him.

But then Lin Dong thought of another question: how did the killer know of the existence of those items?

He couldn’t help but look towards Jin Yuan with a notion forming in his mind.

”Could he be behind this?”

But as soon as this thought emerged, Lin Dong immediately dismissed it. If Jin Yuan wanted to obtain the items left by Lin Dong’s father, there was no need for such tactics.

All he had to do was to fail to fulfill his promise and keep quiet about everything. Then he could covertly take the items for himself.

There was no need for such an elaborate scheme!

Then, who could the murderer be?

How did they know Medical Saint Jin Yuan had treasures in his possession?

At that moment, Lin Dong couldn’t help but ask Jin Yuan this question.

”Doctor Jin Yuan, did you perhaps tell anyone else about my father’s affairs?”

Medical Saint Jin Yuan shook his head: ”No, I have never told anyone about it...”

Suddenly, as he was speaking, he remembered something.

”That’s right, I remember something. Once, when I was opening the hidden door in the study room, my adopted son saw it!”

”He even asked me what was inside. I scolded him and sent him away at that time...”

Upon hearing this, both of them began to suspect that his adopted son might be involved.

His adopted son might have thought there were holy scriptures of medicine inside, which Medical Saint Jin Yuan was unwilling to pass on to him, so he harbored covetous thoughts?

While Medical Saint Jin Yuan was away in Dragon Country, perhaps the adopted son chose to ’steal’ from his ’home’?

Thinking this, Medical Saint Jin Yuan’s face became as ugly as it could be.

At that moment, Lin Dong suddenly said in surprise, ”Ah, there’s still a survivor!”
