Urban Divine Doctor Descends the Mountain

Chapter 1158: Chapter 1157 Dao Heart Shattered

Lin Dong easily defeated Li Huanzhen and then turned his attention to the other nine Eastern doctors.

”Come all at once, bring your best and compare it with mine!”

At the moment, one of the nine Eastern doctors stood up and said loudly,

”I am the Medicine King of Paocai Nation’s Oriental Medicine, specializing in prescribing medicines, and I will compete with you in prescription writing!”

Lin Dong nodded, ”Okay!”

The rule of their medical fight was to randomly select a disease.

And then write a prescription for that disease.

Within thirty minutes, the prescriptions had to be written.

Afterward, the effect of the prescriptions would be compared to see whose was better.

The referee drew a disease called ’Big Head Plague’ from countless diseases.

Initially, this disease somewhat resembles a cold, but later on, the body starts to feel sluggish and cold, completely lacking in strength.

Taking cold medicine and the like had no effect, and over time, symptoms began to appear where the head and face would swell up to the point that the eyes could hardly open.

In addition, there would be inflammation in the throat, causing pain. The voice would become hoarse, and breathing grew obstructed.

In the end, symptoms would further worsen, leading to death...

Without treatment, it was an extremely severe disease. From onset to death, it could even be faster than cancer.

At the moment, upon seeing the disease they had drawn, the two began to write their prescriptions separately.

”Swoosh swoosh swoosh~~~~” This time, the Medicine King of Eastern Medicine took only five minutes to write out his prescription.

After he had finished, he turned in his prescription to the referee with an air of pride.

Then, somewhat smug, he looked over at Lin Dong’s side and found that Lin Dong was still writing.

”Heh, is that all he’s got?” sneered the Medicine King of Eastern Medicine.

Lin Dong, however, paid no attention to him and continued writing his prescription.

It took him ten minutes, double the time it took the Medicine King of Eastern Medicine, before he finally handed his completed prescription to the referee!

Seeing this, the public in the Paocai Nation Live Broadcast Room began to gloat again.

”We’re sure to win this time, our Medicine King finished writing the prescription in five minutes.”

”Whereas that Dragon Country’s Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner took ten minutes, a full double the time!”

”...”

Domestic live rooms were filled with people discussing the same.

But many in the domestic audience harbored a good feeling for Lin Dong after he overwhelmed Li Huanzhen just now, so many of them still stood up for Lin Dong.

”Who says our Leader of the Southern faction is going to lose? The rule of this medical competition is to see whose effect is better! As long as the prescription is completed within the set half-hour, that’s fine!”

”We have to look at whose prescription has a better effect!”

”Exactly!”

”...”

On the scene, the referee received the prescriptions from both men.

Medicine Saint Jin Yuan and Elder Wang Taisui, such medical figures, all came forward to appraise the two prescriptions.

After examining them, Medicine Saint Jin Yuan sighed and said, ”We’ve lost!”

Whoosh!

This statement once again caused an uproar.

However, the Medicine King of Eastern Medicine refused to accept and said, ”Medical Saint, where did I lose? How could I possibly lose?”

”Very well, then let me announce how you lost,” Elder Wang could not help but laughingly say.

After that, he spoke loudly:

”This practitioner of Eastern Medicine, in your prescription, you used bitter Coptis Chinesis to purge the pericardium meridian of pathogenic heat, used Scrophulariaceae Kuping to purge the lung meridian of heat, with both herbs at half a ’liang’ as the monarch drugs; used Hong Kuping, Scrophulariaceae Kuping, raw and cold licorice, each at two ’qian’ to purge fire and replenish qi as the minister drugs; flatstem milkvetch seed, sticky thistle, peppermint leaves bitter and spicy neutral, Isatis root bitter and cold, Puffball, White silkworm, with the latter six to disperse swelling and detoxify, serving as adjuvant drugs, the first five flavors at one ’qian’ each, and the last flavor, white silkworm, should be stir-fried and used at seven parts; hemp seed seven parts to raise the qi of the stomach meridian of Yangming, use two ’qian’ of thorowax to raise the qi of the shaoyang gall bladder meridian, and finally, use 10 grams of Chinese bell flower as the messenger drug to prevent the aforementioned properties from descending...”

The Eastern Medicine practitioner listened with a shaking head, then kept nodding in accord, with a strong sense of self-admiration, ”This is indeed my prescription, what’s wrong, does Elder Wang think I have made a mistake in my prescription?”

Elder Wang shook his head, ”There is no mistake, but you did not instruct to grind the components into powder and then decoct them. In doing so, the medicinal effect would be greatly reduced!”

”Besides, the method of taking the medicine you instructed also greatly differs from that of Chief Lin’s.”

”The correct way to take this medicine should be half with water, decocting five ’qian’ at a time, and the other half turned into pills for the patient to hold in their mouth. But you did not separate them! As a result, the medicinal effect will be discounted once again!”

Hearing all this, the Medicine King murmured, ”This... this... this isn’t mentioned in our Eastern Medical Scripture!”

”Hehe... That’s why I say, much of your Eastern Medicine has been plagiarized from our Dragon Country’s ancient Chinese medical texts. And plagiarism is, after all, plagiarism; a slight omission can significantly reduce the effectiveness of an entire prescription, or even render it completely ineffective!”

”I don’t believe it, I don’t believe that kid’s prescription is better than mine!” he said, hastily running over to the side of Medical Saint Jin Yuan and Elder Wang.

Then he took Lin Dong’s prescription.

After reading it, he was completely dumbfounded.

He found that whatever was in his own prescription, Lin Dong had included it. What wasn’t there, Lin Dong had also included, along with annotations of various pharmacological knowledge and detailed notes.

After reading those pharmacological notes and detailed comments, he had an epiphany moment. Instantly, he understood the vast gap between himself and his opponent.

It was just like the gap between a teacher and a student; he was the student, the other was the teacher.

And what’s more terrifying was that he finally understood why Lin Dong took twice as much time as he did.

Because Lin Dong had not just written that one prescription.

He had written five prescriptions.

And all five prescriptions could cure that disease! Each with their own target demographic.

For the elderly, who are frail and cannot tolerate fierce medicine, Lin Dong’s prescription consisted of mild medicinal herbs, emphasizing a gentle approach to healing.

For the youth, their medicines were stronger, focusing on the speed of eliminating the disease.

And for children and pregnant women, their prescriptions were different too!

It was only then that he realized how thoroughly he had been defeated.

No wonder Medical Saint Jin Yuan had announced his loss right after reading it!

He had a better character than Li Huanzhen; now that he had read Lin Dong’s prescription, he didn’t try to deny it but instead humbly declared in front of everyone:

”I indeed lost!”

This time, he was thoroughly convinced in his heart and mind of his defeat.

Even, he couldn’t help but harbor a question, akin to a collapsing belief, in his heart.

Could it be that their Paocai Nation’s Eastern Medicine was really based on plagiarizing Dragon Country’s Traditional Chinese Medicine? Are their medical ancestors deceiving them, the descendants?

If it were before, he would never entertain such doubt.

But now, after being defeated by Lin Dong and seeing the comparison between Lin Dong’s and his own prescriptions, he truly couldn’t help but harbor such doubts.

”Impossible, impossible...” As he thought more and more, his emotions grew more intense, and with a ’puff’, he even spat out a mouthful of fresh blood.

”Impossible, our Eastern Medicine couldn’t possibly be plagiarism of Chinese Medicine!”

With bloodshot eyes, he cried out such words as if he had gone mad, then he collapsed on the ground.

It turned out that his Dao heart of medicine was shattered by Lin Dong’s five carefully tailored prescriptions!
