Apocalyptic Flood: Sexy Beauty Neighbor's Midnight Plea for Food

Chapter 621: Chapter 257 New Military News_2

”I recognize that person, an old man with the surname Zhong. He cultivated a small plot of land nearby, growing a lot of potatoes, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, chives, eggplants, and such. Xiaoliang, if you have the time, you might want to send someone over to look. Maybe some have already mutated, and we can find seeds to transplant here.”

Hearing this, Liang Yuan also recalled some things.

Before the great flood, he had climbed Yangshan for leisure. There were indeed forest rangers living in the mountains, sanitation workers responsible for cleaning the mountain paths and taking care of the forest.

Some of them would stay for an entire day, and staff from the scenic area would come up to deliver meals.

But many elderly people couldn’t get used to those meals; they preferred to grow their own food. So, in many inconspicuous places, these people had cultivated small plots of land, growing a lot of vegetables.

They weren’t growing them to sell, just some for their own consumption.

The older generation always believed that vegetables outside were from greenhouses and sprayed with pesticides, making them unhealthy. Growing their own was better.

This belief wasn’t held by just one or two; some had even passed it on to the next generation.

Middle-aged people with good family conditions would also go to the countryside on weekends to find agricultural products and buy some home-raised eggs from rural folks.

Many middle-aged parents didn’t care much about what they ate themselves, but their children’s dietary health was more important to them.

They were willing to spend more time and money to find safer food for their children.

The elderly didn’t have these resources and channels, so they had to grow their own.

Thus, in the city, it was common to see any vacant land being used by some unknown elderly person to grow vegetables.

Even the green belts might be dug up and replaced with vegetable plants.

”Hmm, I’ll keep an eye on this matter and let those going on hunting expeditions be aware.”

”Wenwen, let Ding Yan know later to post these search tasks in the task hall and offer high points for them.”

Song Wen nodded, ”Okay, I’ll let Sister Ding and Zhao Kai know later.”

The task hall was also part of the supermarket complex, located on the first floor near the food court.

The food court not only had dining areas but also a bar section. The task hall was near the bar, convenient for passing individuals to check or post tasks.

Some of the tasks were issued by the Fire Bamboo Forest Shelter, while others were posted by the shelter members themselves.

As the only official issuer, tasks from the Fire Bamboo Forest Shelter attracted a lot of attention, and the points offered were substantial.

Speaking about this point system, it had now been officially promoted.

The entire shelter now understood the importance of points.

These points could be used to purchase anything within the shelter—food, drink, accommodation, transportation, weapons, and even to hire help—all required points.

Points had now taken on a financial attribute, circulating among over a thousand people in Yangshan.

This was a new currency and financial system, circulating within Yangshan.

In short, everything at the shelter was transitioning from a rudimentary setup to a more regular organization.

Liang Yuan had already built the basic framework, and many minor details no longer required his constant attention.

For instance, finding mutant plant seeds could be entrusted to others in the shelter by posting a task.

Currently, Liang Yuan was living quite comfortably, waking up each day in a room with three women, having a love-filled breakfast made by Yang Mei, visiting the slaughterhouse to collect points, and then not needing to bother with much else.

The construction work at the base was managed by Song Wen, Wang An, and Old Ma.

Patrol and hunting were overseen by Zhao Kai and Ding Yan.

The mining area was watched over by Han Xiangman and her team, with a regular supply of Superpower Stones coming weekly.

Liang Yuan set aside time daily to continue exploring his evolutionary superpower, and also needed to spend time with Old Yang to study Rune Technology.

He had two Fire Runes, one extracted from Tian Wei’s skull.

The other one was from a mutant wild boar Ding Yan had slain long ago.

Now, there was an additional one, Old Yang’s Blast Rune.

So, studying these runes had taken up much of Liang Yuan’s time.

”Brother Liang, Brother Liang!”

Just as he left the valley and stepped out of the Fire Bamboo Forest, he saw Dong Yan waving at him from the bamboo house outside the Fire Bamboo Forest.

She was even calling out loudly instead of using her Spiritual Link Ability to inform him.

Liang Yuan immediately realized she must have something urgent.

He leaped into action, his toes lightly tapping the air, making it seem like he was running in the air like a character from a martial arts novel!

Ignoring the terrain, he moved at incredible speed, quickly reaching the bamboo house.

This wasn’t any Lightweight Skill; it was actually Liang Yuan using Telekinesis to form a tangible carrier for his weight, thus achieving a suspended flying ability.

He had conceived this move a long time ago.

However, back then his Spiritual Power was insufficient, and lifting a steel bar was a struggle.

It wasn’t until his Spiritual Power surpassed fifty points that both the quality and capacity of his power increased manifold.

He could finally suspend himself in the air with ease.

Of course, completely supporting his body weight consumed a lot of Spiritual Power, so prolonged flight was impossible—only short bursts of suspension.
