Apocalyptic Flood: Sexy Beauty Neighbor's Midnight Plea for Food

Chapter 620: Chapter 257 New Military News

Time has flown by, and more than half a month has passed.

The main structure of the Fire Bamboo Forest Shelter is basically completed.

The commercial complex base is also almost finished.

The commercial complex adopts a semi-embedded structure.

That is, half of the main body is within the mountain wall, and the other half is outside the cliff wall.

The structure inside the mountain is simple, just excavate rooms and passages, reinforce and support them. Because it is a rock structure, there is no need to even lay floors.

Outside the mountain, the frame is still constructed using fire bamboo, the interior is tidied with wood, and then the outer layer is reinforced with sand and stones.

Since there is no cement, Ma Guocai and his team designed it initially using mutant sea cucumber mucus as a strong adhesive.

This sea cucumber mucus works surprisingly well, and the resulting mud bricks are no worse than concrete.

Ma Guocai even asked several elderly women to paint some patterns on the walls, inlaying bottles and jars to plant flowers and plants, serving as external wall decorations.

The staircase part is also designed within the bamboo house, and the complex has a total of four floors.

Each floor is five meters high, with relatively large intervals between middle floors.

Firstly, it is to avoid digging too closely and causing rock collapse, secondly, it provides good sound insulation, with different functional areas having independent environments.

The top fourth floor is the entertainment area, including a cinema, billiard room, video hall, computer rental, and electronics repair.

The second and third floors are for living goods, similar to a department store, showcasing items from clothes and shoes to hardware, soaps, and bath products.

The first floor is the food area, with divisions for private shops and public canteens.

The reason for placing the food area on the first floor is naturally due to the convenience of garbage disposal and the simplicity of setting up the sewer system.

In summary, although the commercial complex base is not very large, this is compared to the pre-apocalyptic floods.

With the flood disaster now erupting, not to mention the commercial complex, people outside might not even be able to solve their basic needs.

Comparatively, people here in Yangshan perceive a skyrocketing happiness index.

The people from the four shelters, looking at the four-story large complex attached to the cliff, became increasingly anxious at once.

They really want to stay here; they simply do not want to leave.

Anyone can see that this mountain hollow is bound to become the center of Yangshan in the future.

In the mountain hollow, not only is the complex basically completed, but several other areas are also rapidly being finished.

Despite the continuous heavy rain, it did not dampen everyone’s high spirits.

In the planting base, Liang Yuan and Song Wen observe the growth of mutant plants.

Granny Li and Zhuang Shuyuan follow behind, each holding a notebook with their recent notes.

Liang Yuan lowers his head, looking at the thriving various mutant plants, a genuine smile appearing on his face.

He asks, ”Wenwen, how is the yield of these mutant crops?”

Song Wen shakes her head, ”The yield is still unclear, but the maturity period has shortened. Compared to ordinary crops, basically all mutant crops can achieve four harvests a year, even mutant sugar cane can reach this speed.”

Liang Yuan can’t help but laugh, ”So, does this mean we can harvest once every quarter?”

”Yes, it’s estimated that we can harvest the first batch in another month, but we don’t know about the yield yet.”

Liang Yuan ponders for a moment, then turns to ask Zhuang Shuyuan who is beside Granny Li, ”How was the sugar cane yield at Martial King Pavilion back then?”

Zhuang Shuyuan, seeing finally an opportunity to talk to Liang Yuan, hurriedly pushes aside a strand of hair and says, ”Mr. Liang, at Martial King Pavilion, they did not specifically manage these sugar canes like we do now, they only drove away mutant beasts that were gnawing on them.”

”But even so, the sugar cane yield every year was impressive. Each stalk was as thick as my arm, and the height was almost as tall as the fire bamboo.”

She intentionally raises her sleeve, revealing her jade-like arm to facilitate Liang Yuan’s understanding.

However, this action makes Song Wen snort.

Zhuang Shuyuan wisely puts down her sleeve and laughs, ”So Martial King Pavilion had enough sugar cane to make sugar blocks.”

Liang Yuan nods slightly, giving a meaningful look at this woman, ”It seems mutant plants not only can adapt to the flood, but their productivity is extremely impressive.”

”By the way, Granny Li, how are the ordinary plants over there?”

Granny Li sighs upon hearing this, ”Many ordinary plants can’t adapt to the current weather, and they have withered and died. We’ve tried many methods but couldn’t save them.”

Liang Yuan comforts, ”The world is changing, species are evolving, and plants are no exception. These ordinary seeds will eventually be replaced by mutant plants.”

”However, the taste and other aspects of mutant plants might not be as good as ordinary plants. Remember to crossbreed some and see if new varieties can be cultivated.”

”Moreover, the search for new mutant seeds must continue.”

”Currently, the primary food mutant plants we can use are still taro and lotus root, which is insufficient. We’d better find mutant rice, mutant wheat, mutant sweet potatoes, and the like.”

Granny Li sighs upon hearing this, ”Mutant rice is too hard to find. Yangshan was not a place for growing rice even before the big flood, but wheat, sweet potatoes, and potatoes might be possible.”

She recalls for a moment, ”I remember on the road to Meishan, there was a temporary forest ranger station, and before the big flood, someone was on duty there.”
