The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 794: Chapter 743: Amusing Tales

At this moment, a maid came over to inform her that the Second Young Master of Prince Liang Mansion had come to deliver the betrothal gifts.

Zhao Keyan was initially taken aback, then tears began to flow uncontrollably.

However, this time they were tears of joy!

She had finally, finally achieved her heart’s desire!

At the palace gate, Prince Liang, who had just submitted the petition for the title, felt a bit lost.

Being forced by his son to submit the petition for the title did not put Prince Liang in a good mood. Upon entering the palace, the Emperor was discussing the matter of the Emperor’s birthday with Grand Tutor Zhao and other high-ranking officials. The Emperor’s birthday was a state affair celebrated nationwide, and other countries would send envoys to join in.

He was already anxious from waiting; it was only after the national matters were discussed that the Emperor saw him. He handed over the petition, and after a glance, the Emperor’s piercing gaze swept over him, causing him to break out in a cold sweat.

With the eldest son requesting the title for the second son, he felt the Emperor would surely flay him alive.

If it weren’t for Grand Tutor Zhao and other high-ranking officials being there, he would have confessed tearfully about how he was being coerced.

Fortunately, the Emperor said nothing, only telling him to go back first.

Wiping his cold sweat, he exited the palace gates and got into his carriage. Hearing the bustling noise of the street, he asked the driver what was happening outside.

The driver didn’t know, but he quickly found out and reported back with an odd expression, hesitantly saying, ”Your Highness, I heard it’s the Second Young Master proposing at Grand Tutor Zhao Mansion!”

”Which Second Young Master?” Prince Liang asked casually.

Seeing that Prince Liang was still unresponsive, the driver quickly added, ”Our mansion’s Second Young Master!”

Prince Liang: ”...”

Now he felt as if he was merely at his son’s beck and call.

What was he?

His son was proposing at Grand Tutor Zhao Mansion, and he, the father, only found out from the street’s bustle and the gossip of common folks.

Moreover, didn’t that brat initially want to marry that girl surnamed Xia? He even humbly asked a princess to propose on behalf of a mere Jianghu wanderer.

How long ago was that?

Prince Liang was so furious that his lips trembled. He wanted to rush to the Grand Tutor Zhao Mansion’s gate, grab that brat, slap him a few times, and teach him what filial piety meant.

But Prince Liang could only think about it. Remembering how he wanted to request the title of Princely Heir for Hongyi, had the petition written, but was deterred by that sinister gaze and threatening words, he shivered!

Never mind, never mind, what did this have to do with him?

He would just be his Prince Liang in peace!

Whoever wanted to be the Princely Heir could be!

Whoever he wanted to marry could marry!

As long as they didn’t bother him.

After Prince Liang left, the Emperor casually picked up the petition for the title again and, in a moment of interest, casually asked the four ministers present, ”What do you think about Prince Liang requesting the Princely Heir’s title?”

The Minister of Rites, Duan Mingyu, said, ”Prince Liang’s legitimate son is already of age; it is indeed time to establish the Princely Heir!”

Wasn’t it because he still hoped to become the Crown Prince?

The Emperor nodded and said, ”He is requesting the title for his second son, Huangfu Yuxuan, as the Princely Heir!”

Duke Jiang Xin immediately said, ”With a legitimate son, yet establishing the second son, Prince Liang’s actions seem a bit inappropriate!”

At this moment, Eunuch Feng came over to refill the Emperor’s tea and whispered a few words in his ear.

The Emperor looked at Grand Tutor Zhao and said, ”What does Aiqing think?”

Grand Tutor Zhao frowned slightly and said, ”What the Duke said is reasonable; the Princely Heir is usually the legitimate son. If the legitimate son has faults, then others are considered!”

The Emperor smiled, tossed the petition back on the desk, and said, ”Feng Yu, go ahead and share the amusing story you just heard, so We and the ministers can enjoy it together!”

With a spirited acknowledgment, Eunuch Feng said with a beaming smile, ”I was just congratulating the Emperor and Grand Tutor Zhao!”

Grand Tutor Zhao was puzzled, wondering what this had to do with him. He politely asked, ”Eunuch Feng, what grand occasion do I share with the Emperor that I am unaware of?”

Eunuch Feng smiled, ”Just moments ago, the Second Young Master of Prince Liang Mansion, carrying eighty-laden betrothal gifts, went to Grand Tutor Zhao Mansion to propose for the hand of Grand Tutor Zhao’s daughter. Isn’t this a grand occasion for both the Emperor and Grand Tutor Zhao?”

Grand Tutor Zhao: ”...”

A marriage proposal?

Now of all times?

Isn’t it afternoon already?

What kind of proposal are we talking about?

Why would Huangfu Yuxuan suddenly propose? Is there something happening that he doesn’t know?
