The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 788: Chapter 741: Not a Gentleman’s Deed

Everyone thought, yes, this is where women change clothes, it was unreasonable for Young Master Xuan to appear here.

Besides, something has happened, whether he’s the victim or not, Young Master Xuan keeps evading, it’s somewhat dishonorable!

Huangfu Yuxuan knew that continuing to argue would only be more detrimental to him. He fiercely glared at Huangfu Jingchen—why was Xia Wenjin with Huangfu Jingchen, and why was it Zhao Keyan instead of Xia Wenjin?

Even if He Ye was a useless person, he should have been able to handle such a small task, so something must have gone wrong midway.

Could it be Huangfu Jingchen?

His suspicion was not entirely unfounded. Xia Wenjin had detected something unusual in the room, and after swallowing a detoxification pill, she thought to find whoever was involved and give them a beat down for relief. But when she opened the cabinet, no one was there; she knew that someone would probably enter the room later.

The door was already locked from the outside. She was about to jump out of the window when it opened, and Huangfu Jingchen jumped in.

Xia Wenjin said, ”Why are you here?”

As soon as Huangfu Jingchen entered the room, he sensed something was amiss. He covered his mouth and nose with his sleeve and used his other hand to cover Xia Wenjin’s mouth and nose, saying, ”There’s something strange in this room!”

Xia Wenjin smiled and handed him a detoxification pill.

Huangfu Jingchen then said, ”I was bored staying in the hall, originally wanted to try my luck in the garden to see if I could meet you. From a distance, I saw a maid take you into this room, but she locked the room from the outside and tied a red string on a tree by the pond. I knew they meant you harm, so I came to warn you!”

Xia Wenjin said, ”Let’s talk after we leave here!”

The two were not fragile people; although the window was high, it could block delicate ladies who only knew music, chess, calligraphy, and painting, but not Xia Wenjin, who had been on battlefields, killed enemies, traversed the Jianghu, and performed arts with skillful abilities.

The two easily left through the window and considerately closed it again.

As long as they stayed away from this place, no mud would be slung on Wenjin. After circling the garden, they returned to find a large group of people surrounding the entrance.

From afar, Xia Wenjin saw her aunt and two elder brothers defending her, feeling warm inside. Before she and Huangfu Jingchen could get closer, Zhao Hua had already led people to push past the Xia Brothers and charge into the room.

Immediately, the Zhao Family and Wei Family servants blocked the door.

Many outsiders couldn’t get in and, seeing the door being blocked, some quietly backed away, while others stayed put, indifferent, annoyed that they had been a step too slow to see the most exciting scene inside.

Zhao Hua listened to Huangfu Jingchen and Huangfu Yuxuan’s back and forth, and Xia Wenjin’s unwavering claim that there was no engagement, and his gaze turned cold. He looked at Huangfu Yuxuan and said, ”Young Master Xuan, you say you are innocent, but my sister is even more innocent. She was only here to change clothes, but you appeared here, even if it was a setup, it was my sister who was implicated!”

The implication being, even if it was a setup targeting you, my sister got involved because of you!

Huangfu Yuxuan’s face was dark; yes, this was a women’s changing room, and his presence here was to take responsibility, but since someone changed places, even if unwilling, he seemed to have no choice but to take responsibility.

He had planned everything out, yet in the end, he became a victim of his own plans!

Wei Jian gave him a look suggesting that they should discuss this further and that there was no need to rush, and with a chuckle, tried to smooth things over: ”Miss Zhao must have been frightened, Mr. Zhao, it’s better to take Miss Zhao home to rest! I assure Mr. Zhao that within two days, there will be an explanation for this!”

The words were tactful, promising an explanation, but not guaranteeing marriage.

Huangfu Yuxuan’s expression improved slightly.

Zhao Hua was somewhat unwilling, not getting a verbal commitment from Huangfu Yuxuan, but he understood that if Huangfu Yuxuan had wanted to marry his sister, he would have already sent a matchmaker, without needing such a method.

The incident was infuriating, but there’s no denying that it might be a blessing in disguise for his sister.
