The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 790: Chapter 742: Scapegoat (Part 2)

Princess Ning had never seen Prince Ning, who always had a gentle temperament, act like this before, and she was taken aback. Hesitantly, she stammered out the matter of Huangfu Yuxuan seeking her out previously.

Prince Ning was stunned by what he heard, and then he was filled with rage: ”Have you lost your mind? How could you agree to such a thing? What benefit does it bring to you? Instead, it burdens He Ye. With this happening in our mansion, how do you expect He Ye to marry in the future?”

Princess Ning defended herself, ”Prince, don’t you feel our current situation in the Prince Mansion? Although the current Emperor is your uncle, you are a prince without soldiers, without power, without an official position, without a fief, and without any other income. Our life in the mansion is quite hard. Now, the Emperor is getting old. Eventually, there will be a Crown Prince. Do you want our days to continue like this forever? Is there anything wrong with me planning ahead?”

Prince Ning angrily retorted, ”Shut your mouth!” He looked around, fortunately having already dismissed everyone. Otherwise, if someone with ill intentions overheard this, it would bring disaster to the Prince Mansion!

Since Princess Ning had already started speaking, she wouldn’t hold back her words. She said, ”Prince, sooner or later, the Emperor will appoint a Crown Prince. But no matter who it is, the Second Young Master is capable. It’s beneficial, not harmful, to be in good terms with him!”

”Even if we need to make connections, don’t do it like this. You’re involving the entire Prince Ning Mansion!”

Princess Ning nonchalantly said, ”Can the Prince Ning Mansion be any worse than it is now? Besides, without this way, with any other way, could we ensure the Second Young Master owes us a favor?”

Prince Ning froze. Being part of the Royal Family, how could he not be aware of its ruthlessness? His father and the current Emperor were blood brothers, yet his father died early. How he died still lingered with questions in his mind.

However, he also knew he couldn’t ask, couldn’t investigate. All he could do was accept the original explanation that his father had died of poor health.

Because his father died, he could peacefully continue to be Prince Ning.

He dared not seek office, position, or a fief.

Because if he spoke out, perhaps what awaited him was not an official post or a fief, but the same fate as his father. He could only remain an idle and useless prince.

He looked at Princess Ning with a complex gaze. Though he was just an ineffective prince, the prince’s allowance was enough to sustain the family. During festive seasons, the palace also granted some rewards. Thus, life could still be considered affluent. But what was this woman thinking, wanting the Prince Ning Mansion to ascend even higher?

Was that really feasible?

He gritted his teeth and said, ”The Emperor’s intentions are unclear right now. Why are you blindly taking sides? Even if the Second Young Master is capable, the Emperor won’t make his father the Crown Prince again!”

Princess Ning smirked, ”If the Emperor’s intentions were clear and you took sides then, who would still remember you?”

She also knew some words shouldn’t be spoken, so she lowered her voice and said, ”It’s impossible for the Emperor to make Prince Liang the Crown Prince again. But how do you know the Emperor plans to appoint a Crown Prince and not the Imperial Grandson?”

Prince Ning was taken aback once more.

This question wasn’t one he hadn’t considered.

It was just that it was a matter unrelated to him. What was the use of him thinking about it?

He bitterly complained, ”Then why couldn’t you handle the matter more reliably? How did you mess it up?”

Huangfu Yuxuan left in a fiery rage, and Young Master Zhao had a sullen expression, indicating that it clearly didn’t go according to Huangfu Yuxuan’s wishes.

Talking about this matter, Princess Ning felt a bit guilty and hesitantly said, ”Young Master Xuan did not entrust me with the critical task, but with Ye’er!”

”What? Ye’er is involved in this too?”

Princess Ning was dissatisfied with this affair as well, and she immediately described her noticing the unusual look on Princess He Ye’s face.

Prince Ning barked, ”Where is Ye’er? Why hasn’t she come yet?”

A timid voice spoke from outside the door, ”Father!”

”Get in here at once!”

Princess He Ye entered with her head hanging low, feeling dejected. She had messed things up this time, and when Huangfu Yuxuan left, the look he gave her was extremely cold, leaving her feeling a chill throughout her body.

Seeing her daughter come in, Princess Ning quickly went to her and said, ”Ye’er, what exactly happened?”

Princess He Ye felt very wronged, her eyes reddening, on the verge of tears. She felt so wronged; Xia Wenjin had turned into Zhao Keyan, and the plans she made for the Eldest Young Master Xia also fell through. Xia Wenjin wasn’t with Huangfu Yuxuan, so the Eldest Young Master Xia couldn’t become his brother-in-law, and his sister couldn’t marry such a perfect match. Could she still marry the Eldest Young Master Xia in the future?

Prince Ning fumed, ”Crying, crying, all you know is to cry. Do you realize the grave trouble you’ve caused?”

Princess He Ye sobbed, ”I... I...”
