The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 325: Chapter 325: Haunted

Geng Shikui fell to the ground and immediately knelt, quickly saying to the hanging silhouette, ”Bai Yi, you’re already dead, stop haunting me. You can’t blame me for what happened back then. If you hadn’t been so reckless, trying to expose the examination malpractice, I wouldn’t have acted so harshly. You brought it all on yourself!”

The hanging figure emitted that same piercing, sharp voice: ”Malpractice, murder, death...”

Yu Shikui saw the shadow moving closer and hurriedly said, ”Bai Yi, it’s no use coming after me now. You’re no longer of this world. Even if I return what was yours, you can’t live again. Wouldn’t it be better to move on and reincarnate? At most, I’ll burn more paper money for you!”

”You must die...”

”No, no, no, Bai Yi, things have come to this point, there’s no need to fight to the death. You can’t come back to life anyway. How about I find a High Monk to help you move on, and reincarnate into a wealthy family next life? You won’t need to take exams, nor be replaced, nor be falsely accused and die!”

Yu Shikui was terrified to the extreme. The more afraid he was, the stronger his will to survive became. His voice trembled, but he was still able to form sentences.

This showed that this person truly had some remarkable qualities.

The shadow’s voice was grating like a blade on a sharpening stone: ”You must die...”

Yu Shikui kowtowed and said, ”Bai Yi, Brother Bai Yi, my death wouldn’t do you any good either. Now I’m the Fourth Rank County Magistrate, cloaked in imperial grace, you are a wandering ghost, you can’t kill me. Spare my life, and I will take good care of your parents, make sure they have no worries about food and clothing. Wouldn’t it be good for you to reincarnate?”

The hanging figure stopped moving forward, seeming to be persuaded.

Yu Shikui breathed a sigh of relief.

Then, the figure suddenly advanced again.

Yu Shikui exclaimed in shock, ”What... what do you want?”

A sharp, piercing voice: ”Collecting interest...”

Yu Shikui hadn’t yet grasped what those three words meant when the overturned stool was lifted and heavily smashed onto Yu Shikui, followed by fists, one punch after another, all landing on his body.

Pain, excruciating pain.

Yu Shikui felt his ribs break. He wanted to scream in pain, but realized that he couldn’t make any sounds at all.

All he could do was let his tears and snot flow freely in agony.

The beating lasted a full quarter of an hour. If he could make a sound, the tent would be filled with wails echoing like ghostly cries, but he couldn’t utter a single sound, apart from his tears and snot falling together.

When he couldn’t make a sound, the pain became especially clear, with each hit registering a distinct sense of pain.

The ghostly figure showed no mercy in its beating, seemingly covering every inch of his body before finally stopping.

At this point, Yu Shikui couldn’t say a single word, lying on the ground pitifully.

The upright ghostly figure did not move, but Yu Shikui no longer had the strength to kowtow and beg for mercy.

The upright ghostly figure suddenly moved a little forward, and Yu Shikui was so frightened he almost soiled himself, but the ghost didn’t beat him again, the sharp voice whispered in his ear: ”Care... transcendence... reincarnation...”

Yu Shikui understood; this was the ghost’s way of sparing his life, agreeing that as long as he takes care of Bai Yi’s parents, finds a High Monk to help Bai Yi reincarnate, this matter would be over.

He quickly nodded, trying his best to convey that he would do it, appearing pitiful and honest, yet in his heart, he poisonously thought: Once he leaves here, he must find Bai Yi’s parents and relatives, eradicate them one by one, which could also be considered as ”taking care” of his parents; of course, he would invite a High Monk, but not to help this wandering ghost transcend, instead, to capture this ghost, let it vanish into nothing, beyond redemption.

A gust of cold wind blew, covering Yu Shikui’s face with something, and when he reached out with a hand that hurt so much it could hardly be lifted and wiped it off, he opened his eyes to find the space empty; where was the ghostly figure hanging upside down?

There was only the overturned stool.

If his entire body weren’t in pain, he would almost think it was a dream.

Struggling to sit up from the ground seemed to have drained all his strength.

He had never been beaten so severely, especially earlier when he lost control out of fear. Even now, the tent still bore the smell of his panic.

This kind of disgrace could not be seen by others, absolutely not.

Bearing the pain, he slowly changed his clothes one step at a time; the soreness all over his body made it impossible to sit, lie down, or walk, yet the hatred in his heart only grew stronger.

Unbeknownst to him, outside his tent, in the shadows, stood two wooden figures.

Yes, wooden.

Like two wooden stakes, standing fixed in place, yet despite the tent, they could clearly hear what was happening inside Yu Shikui’s tent.

These two people were Huangfu Jinxuan and his guard Wei Jun.

Huangfu Jinxuan was planning to teach Yu Shikui a lesson under the guise of Huangfu Jingchen.

Damn it, he is just a Fourth Rank County Magistrate, yet planned to burn a few thousand people to death, especially when most of them weren’t even infected, among them even a legitimate Imperial Grandson.

This was clearly aimed to harm him, and he couldn’t ignore the danger even if he tried.

The two had just quietly crept to Yu Shikui’s tent, Wei Jun having extensive experience; the routes they took were all in the shadows, out of sight, ensuring they wouldn’t be discovered.

They could see from a distance that there was still a candle lit inside Yu Shikui’s tent, was he not asleep yet? They decided to wait and observe for an opportunity to act.

Yet, upon arriving, they suddenly felt paralyzed, unable to move.

Huangfu Jinxuan experienced the same.

After that, the candle inside the tent suddenly went out, followed by the trembling voice of Yu Shikui.

Standing there, unable to move and obviously not making any noise, they heard everything happening within the tent, every word from Yu Shikui entering their ears.

Huangfu Jinxuan could hardly believe his ears, Malpractice in the examinations? Identity theft? Framing and causing death, vengeful ghost’s revenge?

Damn, even he, a notorious troublemaker who prided himself on being fearless and reckless, wouldn’t dare be so bold; truly, until one left the Capital City, they couldn’t fathom the wickedness of the human heart.

He thought he was bad, but compared to Yu Shikui, he was practically a saint!

The grating voice, each time it echoed, sent shivers down Huangfu Jinxuan’s spine.

It was terrifying.

Could there really be ghosts in this world?

Following, came a series of thuds as fists and kicks landed on flesh. Yu Shikui was being beaten.

Though listening to the sound gave Huangfu Jinxuan great relief and satisfaction, the thought of a vengeful ghost doing the beating made his teeth grit in horror; terrifying!

The noise inside subsided, and Huangfu Jinxuan involuntarily held his breath.

That ghostly elder wouldn’t come out and pummel him too, would he?

Luckily, though there were faint rustling sounds in the tent, they could hear Yu Shikui’s occasional sharp intake of breath.

The ghostly elder had left.
