The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 308: Chapter 308: Gamble

But to kill such a person, Yu Shikui was still somewhat hesitant.

After all, his grandfather was only a marquis; if he truly killed the son of a prince, that responsibility would be too heavy to bear.

Yu Shikui frowned, his expression gloomy.

Huangfu Jingchen also heard Wen Hao and Shang Jingwang’s conversation, and he did not deny it.

If at this moment, this identity could make Yu Shikui restrain himself a little, and could save the people of Wangshan Town, even if it meant risking being accused of deceiving the emperor in the future?

Xia Wenjin also remained silent, only watching Yu Shikui coldly. This was someone she still wanted to kill, for the people who suffered tragically in her past life! However, she wouldn’t act rashly.

Wen Hao, seeing the effect he desired was achieved, felt a little relieved. As long as Yu Shikui felt cautious, he wouldn’t dare act rashly, and Wen Hao’s life would be spared.

However, he relaxed a bit too early.

Yu Shikui only deliberated for a moment and then shouted, ”Bold! How could the carefree and unrestrained Young Master Jin of Prince Kang Mansion, who acts without restraint, appear here?”

Huangfu Jingchen frowned; he knew that the persona of Huangfu Jinxuan could probably only fool someone like Shang Jingwang, who left the capital twenty years ago, with no substantial background or backing there.

But Yu Shikui was different.

His mother was the concubine-born daughter of Marquis Anning.

With this connection, during festivals or any possible chance to curry favor, he would never miss out, and he must have visited the capital many times. Even if he hadn’t seen the Second Young Master of Prince Kang Mansion, he surely had heard about him numerous times.

Here, Yu Shikui was also gambling.

He hadn’t met Huangfu Jinxuan, since the latter belonged to the imperial family and had a prestigious status, while he was an external official who hadn’t spent much time in the capital. However, he had heard what kind of person Huangfu Jinxuan was—the heir of Prince Kang Mansion managed family affairs, while the second son Huangfu Jinxuan was idle and frivolous, the top playboy in the capital. He’d done bullying, seizing wealth forcibly, but to disregard his own safety and hang around with commoners, standing up for them? That was impossible.

Therefore, he was 50% confident this person was definitely not Huangfu Jinxuan.

However, the innate nobility in Huangfu Jingchen’s demeanor left him unsure.

This forceful declaration, this firm denial was his resolution. Even if it truly was Huangfu Jinxuan here, he had to wrong him to death here.

He pointed at Huangfu Jingchen and Xia Wenjin, and commanded the general, ”Arrest them both!”

Wen Hao never expected that even the status of being kin to the imperial family would be ineffective at this moment. He also seriously doubted—was the boy really not who he claimed to be, just an imposter?

Shang Jingwang shouted loudly, ”Yu Shikui, you dare offend the kin of the imperial family? Are you planning a rebellion?”

His anxiety was genuine, his worry was true; at this moment, perhaps only he stubbornly believed that Huangfu Jingchen was indeed the Second Young Master of Prince Kang Mansion.

Why would Yu Shikui pay attention to the sorrow of a Fifth Rank Governor?

However, the two generals he commanded hesitated a bit. If this truly was a member of the imperial family...

Sun Honghai, eager to please Yu Shikui, saw that the two generals were not moving, raised the command token, and urged, ”What are you idling for? Didn’t you hear Lord Yu’s command?”

The two generals then hurriedly drew their swords and advanced.

Wen Hao saw the two generals approaching without any subordinates and sneered repeatedly. Go ahead, go ahead, that boy’s skill was formidable, and how much his men were worth, didn’t he know? Even he only had a share in getting beaten by this boy. Those two were just going to serve as vegetables on a platter.

Fight, the fiercer the better.

The more chaotic the scene, the better; only when it’s chaotic is there an opportunity.

He was already quietly untying his ropes.

The ropes tied by the soldiers, though binding his hands and feet tightly, didn’t have the special restraint of those tied by Huangfu Jingchen. His strength wasn’t hindered at all.

The two generals bypassed the crowd and were about to seize Huangfu Jingchen and Xia Wenjin.

Huangfu Jingchen’s expression darkened, and as the one on the left reached for Xia Wenjin, he kicked out, knocking him to the ground.

These were Grandpa’s troops, so Huangfu Jingchen held back and didn’t use inner strength.

Nevertheless, the general still fell quite embarrassingly on the ground.

Yu Shikui shouted, ”Treason, treason, you dare resist arrest, is this rebellion?”

Sun Honghai’s eyes flickered, and he whispered to Yu Shikui, ”This boy’s skills are very strong!”

Although Yu Shikui was a civil official, he could of course see it. Liu Canjiang went over and was kicked away without even a face-to-face encounter and still couldn’t get up, so General Li didn’t dare approach either.

He gritted his teeth and said, ”This person must be captured!” Moreover, he must be killed. Even if he wasn’t of the imperial family, had he some special identity, how wouldn’t he remember today’s grievance? He must be eliminated; then claim he died of plague, stating it was to prevent its spread—he’d then have the justification.

Sun Honghai again raised the command token and said, ”General Wang, General Li, take your men up!”

Watching the generals and soldiers charging like wolves and tigers, Huangfu Jingchen felt angry. He and Wenjin could leave, but if they left, the villagers here would really have no hope. Now they could only delay as long as possible, hoping for a turnaround.

But to go quietly, that was impossible.

He wouldn’t let them capture Wenjin.

He charged silently into the crowd, starting to fight the soldiers.

These soldiers, though trained, were nothing compared to skilled fighters. Without even Xia Wenjin’s helping hand, Huangfu Jingchen could handle them all alone.

Just when Huangfu Jingchen knocked down the last person, a voice sneered from the side, ”Boy, look over here!”

As Huangfu Jingchen turned his head, his gaze turned icy cold instantly.

Shang Jingwang had been dragged from the woodpile; at this moment, a knife pressed against his neck, flanked on both sides, with sharp blades gleaming. A slight move would sever Shang Jingwang’s head.

It turned out Sun Honghai, seeing Huangfu Jingchen’s valor, suggested to Yu Shikui, ”My lord, Shang Jingwang is in league with them. Seeing how concerned Shang Jingwang is about this boy, why not use him as leverage?”

Yu Shikui immediately ordered someone to do it.

At this moment, seeing the icy, angry gleam in Huangfu Jingchen’s eyes, Yu Shikui feigned leisure and said, ”I don’t care if you’re a river pirate or an escapee, but Shang Jingwang has harbored you for so long. If you have any humanity left, surrender, or else I’ll kill Shang Jingwang!”

Even while a blade was at his throat, Shang Jingwang was trembling all over with anger and shouted, ”Shameless!”
