The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 323: Chapter 323: Gloomy Wind

Shang Jingwang recounted the circumstances to Huangfu Jinxuan, including how Huangfu Jingchen went to see Kong Tixin and was almost punished, then came to him, and how he himself hesitated, finding it hard to believe. However, understanding the gravity of an epidemic outbreak, he came to inspect personally.

He also detailed Huangfu Jingchen and Xia Wenjin’s proposal to establish a quarantine zone immediately, prohibiting all Wangshan Town villagers from entering or exiting, among other measures.

Huangfu Jinxuan listened, stunned.

He wasn’t a fool, but he was accustomed to a life of leisure and was not wrongfully accused of being unlearned. The only reason he asked so meticulously was because Huangfu Jingchen was involved.

Unaware but feeling the weight of the situation, he blinked, listening attentively.

Next, Shang Jingwang spoke about how Yu Shikui dispatched soldiers to surround and plan to burn down the entire Wangshan Town.

In the past, Shang Jingwang did not contend, and even his years of achievements in quelling bandits were taken by Yu Shikui without him defending himself. Because he knew he had no one influential in the Court, while Yu Shikui had powerful backers. If he were to argue based on reason, it would not bring justice, only a darker fate.

But now things were different; he was speaking to the Second Young Master of Prince Kang Mansion, the imperial envoy sent by the Emperor. This imperial envoy seemingly regarded Young Master Jing differently.

And his decision to come to Wangshan Town personally was because he staked his life on Young Master Jing.

Since he had already stepped in to compete, there was no need to sugarcoat the situation for Yu Shikui anymore.

Young Master Jing had paved the way for him; if he hid everything and remained silent, wouldn’t that make him a foolish ally?

Hearing that Yu Shikui planned to burn down Wangshan Town, Huangfu Jinxuan suddenly stood up, raging, ”That filthy scoundrel, how dare he!”

As the imperial envoy, bringing along the Imperial Physician here, if Yu Shikui had succeeded, then what was his purpose? To collect the bodies of Wangshan Town’s people or to mourn over their graves?

Most importantly, there was also a direct Imperial Grandson involved.

If he wasn’t the imperial envoy, if Huangfu Jingchen really died here, he would only express regret.

But as the imperial envoy, if Yu Shikui succeeded and Huangfu Jingchen truly died here, the matter would inevitably be exposed sooner or later. Even if he arrived late and wasn’t involved, he still couldn’t escape punishment.

Wasn’t Yu Shikui harming him?

Seeing Huangfu Jinxuan’s furious demeanor, Shang Jingwang knew he made the right choice.

He was also curious; this imperial envoy was also called Young Master Jing, but what exactly was this Young Master Jing’s identity? However, since Young Master Jing didn’t reveal it himself, he couldn’t ask others about it.

He informed the imperial envoy of all the facts, knowing that when the envoy returned, he would certainly report directly to the Holy Emperor. The contributions of some people in Wangshan Town during this epidemic should not be buried or wrongfully die!

Thinking of Yu Shikui’s previous harshness and cruelty, and the prior tensions, if the imperial envoy had not happened to arrive, no one could predict what the outcome would have been.

Perhaps everyone in Wangshan Town, including himself, would now be struggling amidst the blazing fire, ultimately perishing hopelessly!

If Yu Shikui dared to do such a thing, he must be prepared to face the consequences.

The rest didn’t need Shang Jingwang to say; Huangfu Jinxuan had seen Yu Shikui’s arrogance upon arrival, and if it weren’t for him presenting the Holy Decree, Yu Shikui likely wouldn’t have given up so easily.

Huangfu Jinxuan stood up, angrily exclaiming, ”Let me go teach that filthy scoundrel a lesson!”

Saying this, he stormed out in a huff.

Shang Jingwang: ”...”

He disclosed the truth, hoping this Second Young Master could report the matter to the Capital and inform the Holy Emperor. But what was this Second Young Master thinking? He actually planned to go beat someone himself?

He shook his head with a wry smile; the Second Young Master’s reputation as a wayward scion was indeed well-deserved.

A dignified imperial envoy going to beat a court official, what propriety was this?

Forget it, he couldn’t manage so much, better to continue focusing on his own tasks.

As soon as Huangfu Jinxuan stepped outside, his angry demeanor vanished. His eyes darted around, telling the guards behind him, ”You two, go to the village and find out what’s really going on!”

The guard on the left queried, ”Does the Young Master not believe Shang Jingwang’s words?”

Huangfu Jinxuan snorted, ”I don’t trust that filthy scoundrel, but if what Shang Jingwang says is true, then that filthy scoundrel is insidiously bad. Listening to more perspectives is always right!”

The guard on the right said, ”I’ll go alone, Wei Jun can stay and protect the Young Master!”

”Quickly, go quickly!”

After the guard on the right left, Huangfu Jinxuan rubbed his chin, his eyes glowing, and said to Wei Jun, ”Young Master Jing sneaking into the central army tent alone at night to abduct a Fourth Rank Military Commander, isn’t it exciting? Isn’t it as bold as snatching a general’s head among thousands of troops? Why don’t we go scare that filthy scoundrel too?”

Wei Jun advised helplessly, ”Second Young Master, the Princely Heir instructed you to do your duty well over here; this... a dignified imperial envoy binding a Fourth Rank Civil Servant, aside from being unseemly, is simply... unfair, yes, unfair! This would harm your image, Second Young Master!”

Huangfu Jinxuan looked at himself, baffled, and said, ”Image? Isn’t my image that of a wayward scion? Bullying and mischief is my image! It’s settled, at worst, I’ll cover my face and claim it in Young Master Jing’s name!” 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ

The imperial envoy refusing to rest in Yanglu County also meant Yu Shikui couldn’t leave Wangshan Town.

But he dared not stay in Wangshan Town either, since it was an epidemic zone — what if he got infected? That would be reckless with his life!

Therefore, he stayed in the central army tent where Wen Hao was stationed earlier.

The hundred soldiers he brought, formed a protective formation around him.

Having committed wrongdoing, he didn’t sleep soundly.

Tossing and turning, he reflected on today’s events.

Huangfu Jinxuan’s disdain for him was evident. Who exactly was this Young Master Jin?

Could it be that a cure for the epidemic had truly been developed, and it wasn’t Shang Jingwang’s delaying tactic? It shouldn’t be! It’s believable if the Imperial Physician is here, otherwise how could it be so soon? But the Imperial Physician is still on the way.

Yes, it must be Shang Jingwang’s treacherous plot.

He needed to write a report to the Capital, accusing Shang Jingwang of seeking fame and deceit, and ask his grandfather to exert pressure in the middle.

He wouldn’t let Wen Hao off either.

If it weren’t for Wen Hao, how would he find himself in such a passive position?

If Wen Hao had been on his side, he wouldn’t fear even if the imperial envoy arrived.

As he was brooding over how to make Wen Hao stumble greatly, the candle on the table flickered suddenly.

The tent was windless, so how did the candle flame flicker?

Yu Shikui quickly got up, rolling out of bed, and at this moment, a chilling wind seemed to blow, causing the candle flame to sway again, then extinguish.
