The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 312: Chapter 312: Passion Ignited

Yu Shikui also spoke at this moment: ”Strategist Sun is right. It is everyone’s responsibility to eliminate and prevent the epidemic. The source of the epidemic must be eradicated by all. If you contribute to epidemic prevention, you will certainly be rewarded, but if the epidemic spreads, each of you will be held accountable!”

Upon hearing this, the generals were convinced and responded, ”We accept the order!”

Sun Honghai’s eyes flashed with satisfaction. When he was beside Wen Hao, he never imagined he would one day command these generals. It should be known that army generals have military ranks, while he was merely an adviser. Although esteemed by Wen Hao as an honored guest, he was in reality just a commoner. Holding the Command Token, he said, ”Lead your men and break through the quarantine zone, each responsible for a direction, and advance to the center. If you meet resistance, kill without restraint...”

He hadn’t finished his sentence when suddenly there was a ”thud”.

It was the sound of a sharp object penetrating flesh. An arrow pierced through his chest, its head emerging from his back, leaving him cold as ice.

In the open area of the quarantine zone, the person holding a bow had eyes full of vicious intent. With one arrow hitting its mark, another was already nocked on the string.

Sun Honghai’s eyes widened; he wanted to speak, but as he opened his mouth, he only coughed up a mouthful of blood.

The commotion frightened the generals, and even Yu Shikui was startled. His close guards quickly surrounded him, their weapons swiftly drawn to protect him.

Only then did Yu Shikui dare to look across; Wen Hao stood with a bow and arrow, brows furrowed in anger. Having successfully shot his first target, his eyes shone with a bloodthirsty ferocity resembling a fierce demon.

Just when Sun Honghai was using the Command Token to order the generals to lead their men in massacring the villagers, Huangfu Jingchen, who had briefly left unnoticed, returned next to Wen Hao and placed a bow and three arrows in his hand.

He had taken them from where weapons were kept the previous night after destroying other bows.

He said nothing.

But at that moment, Wen Hao was most resentful of Sun Honghai, especially since Sun was holding his Command Token, intending his subordinates to kill everyone there, including himself.

How could he swallow such anger?

Without thinking, he aimed the first arrow at Sun Honghai.

Being a warrior by profession, he was not unfamiliar with archery. Sun Honghai, wanting to show the Command Token clearly, stood in a conspicuous position, making him an easy target. Wen Hao’s shot effortlessly pierced his heart.

The sudden bloodshed and death might have caused panic among the villagers. However, knowing their fate of being driven here, and with archers previously aiming at them—had the bows not been destroyed, they would have ended up like Sun Honghai—they did not panic; instead, some applauded.

Huangfu Jingchen timely declared, ”Mr. Wen knows everyone here is innocent. He loves the people as his own children and is a good official. Mr. Wen’s archery is extraordinary!”

The villagers, seeing Wen Hao kill Sun Honghai, who wanted to kill them, couldn’t help but echo Huangfu Jingchen, shouting, ”Mr. Wen is a good official, Mr. Wen has great archery!”

At other times, these words might not mean much.

But to Wen Hao, they held special meaning, having gone through a tumultuous inner journey.

Yesterday, he shared the same thoughts as Yu Shikui, and last night, being thrown among the epidemic patients by Huangfu Jingchen, he was filled with hatred and anger. But today, he was treated the same as the villagers of Wangshan Town; Yu Shikui had shown the same disregard for him as for the villagers.

Yu Shikui only cared about his achievements and didn’t mind if Wen Hao lived or died.

More importantly, Sun Honghai, whom he relied on, held his Command Token and dared to take his life!

That couldn’t be tolerated.

The released arrow, amid the splattering blood, also served as a deterrent to Yu Shikui’s side.

Moreover, Wen Hao still had arrows, with his bow ready, seemingly seeking the next target.

At that moment, besides the cries from the quarantine area villagers, an eerie silence had fallen over Yu Shikui’s side.

With silence came the village voices growing louder, and Wen Hao, hearing the villagers’ crying voices again, felt a complex emotion when someone called him a good official. Amid this complexity arose a peculiar feeling, a sense of being appreciated, cared for, encouraged!

He felt a strange sense of achievement and mission.

He wanted to believe the epidemic solution had been found, wanted to believe the villagers of Wangshan Town could be cured. Only if they could be cured could he, being in the midst of the epidemic, live without guilt or burden.

This thought took root in his mind. Shang Jingwang was speaking, Huangfu Jingchen was speaking, Xia Wenjin was speaking, and the villagers were speaking. Initially persuading himself to believe, he now completely believed!

Since he believed it, he naturally stood with the villagers.

He didn’t want to die, so he had to ensure the villagers wouldn’t be killed by Yu Shikui.

He was keenly aware that as long as nothing had begun, there was still a chance to save it. But once the killing started, Yu Shikui wouldn’t stop until he had killed all who knew the truth, to disguise everything as he wished, becoming the hero who eradicated the epidemic.

Having set his position and killed Sun Honghai, Wen Hao now considered Yu Shikui the greatest threat.

However, Yu Shikui was well-protected by his close guards, making it seem difficult to strike.

But this didn’t prevent Wen Hao from aiming an arrow in that direction.

Now those generals were truly bewildered; Sun Honghai, armed with a Command Token, issued orders, and Wen Hao called him a thief, further shooting him dead with an arrow.

Wen Hao’s arrow aimed at Yu Shikui, suggesting an irreconcilable conflict between civil and military.

They ought to obey the commander, but with Wen Hao in the ”enemy camp,” listening to Yu Shikui would mean going against their direct supervisor.

Moreover, the sharp arrow that felled Sun Honghai might show no mercy if aimed at them.

When matters of life and death were involved, no one dared to step forward.

Yu Shikui’s close guards surrounded him tightly, ensuring Wen Hao’s arrow wouldn’t reach him, and then he adopted a self-righteous posture, loudly proclaiming, ”Wen Hao, infected by the epidemic, has ruthlessly murdered Strategist Sun to silence him! But thinking you can escape through this is impossible. Infected individuals, the Prefectural Governor will not spare any of you. Soldiers, now is your time to eradicate evil for the nation. Kill them all!”

The generals led their men, reluctantly picking up weapons, and moved toward the quarantine zone!

Wen Hao turned his head, meeting the gazes of the villagers of Wangshan Town, filled with trust, gratitude, and reliance...

Such looks made his blood boil, and he shouted, ”Who dares!”
