The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 190: Chapter 190: Isn’t It Sour?

He was in a coma, and Xia Wenjin was the only one here. That meat must have been fed to him by Xia Wenjin. But seeing Xia Wenjin’s aversion to the fruit, it was clear she was sick of it. Did she give all the meat to him to eat?

Huangfu Jingchen moved a bit, but he had no strength in his limbs, it was difficult even to sit up, let alone go hunting himself to improve Xia Wenjin’s life.

Xia Wenjin rolled her eyes at him: ”Don’t move, the wound just started to close up. Are you trying to die by moving like this?”

But she still said it too late. When Huangfu Jingchen moved, it pulled at his wound, and he frowned, it hurt a lot!

Looking at him, Xia Wenjin laughed, her eyes curved with mischief, and said gleefully: ”You know it hurts now, don’t you? Better behave yourself!”

Huangfu Jingchen grinned and said: ”Didn’t you say you would feed me fruit?”

Xia Wenjin widened her eyes: ”I said you should make do with it, who said I’d feed you?”

Huangfu Jingchen said pitiably: ”I can’t move my limbs, the whole body has no strength!”

Xia Wenjin considered for a moment and said: ”Then don’t eat. Things like fruit have a lot of moisture but little nutrition, eating them can mess up your bodily functions. If you end up incontinent or something, it’d be too much trouble!”

Huangfu Jingchen: ”...”

If he had any hope before, hoping Xia Wenjin was really a woman, he no longer thought so now.

Any woman, no matter how straightforward, should not discuss incontinence so candidly with a man.

But it didn’t matter. Wasn’t he already mentally prepared?

Xia Wenjin brought the fruit to her mouth, took a big bite while frowning, and her whole face scrunched up. It was a mountain pear, very sour.

No, there are two patients here after all, she should try her luck catching fish or some game. She didn’t want to eat grass anymore.

Huangfu Jingchen weakly and eagerly said from the side: ”It seems delicious?”

Xia Wenjin: ”...”

Blind?

Couldn’t he see she was already so sour she was questioning life?

These past few days Xia Wenjin’s mood was not great, her temper was a bit hot, especially when Huangfu Jingchen looked at her with those eyes full of warmth.

That look made her irritably want to run away, yet she couldn’t leave!

Huangfu Jingchen was now as frail as a paper person, a little gust of wind might just kill him.

Who knew if there might be a second wave of people coming to kill him?

Xia Wenjin unceremoniously stuffed the sour mountain pear that was making her face contort into Huangfu Jingchen’s hand.

Four or five of them, only filled one of his palms.

Sized so small, and wild, no wonder they’re sour!

Huangfu Jingchen picked up a mountain pear, took a bite, then another, eating slowly. Although he ate slowly, it was because he was just recovering, making his chewing slow.

Seeing him calmly taking several bites, Xia Wenjin said: ”Isn’t it sour?”

Huangfu Jingchen smiled: ”Not sour!”

He still wore a somewhat enjoying expression, did he really not find it sour?

Only then did Xia Wenjin notice that he was eating the one she had bitten into twice earlier. Clearly, it was sour enough to make her teeth ache!

He actually ate what she had eaten before and said it wasn’t sour, is he out of his mind?

Looking at his smiling face, Xia Wenjin’s expression darkened, she walked over, snatched the mountain pears from his hand, threw them all to the ground, and kicked them far away, saying, ”Eat, eat, eat until you die!” Then she walked off in a huff.

After a while, Xia Wenjin returned, carrying a fish that was already cleaned.

She quietly came over, started a fire, cut branches to make a grill, and roasted the fish over the fire.

He had just woken up, and eating mountain pears, stuff as cold as that, wouldn’t matter to her, but to a patient like him, it would only add diarrhea to his troubles, which was a death wish!

Now his body needed some meat to replenish, wild fruits just wouldn’t do.

Unfortunately, they were in the wild, without pots or kettles, otherwise, fish soup would work as a tonic.

Seeing Xia Wenjin’s dark face, Huangfu Jingchen instead smiled.

Xia Wenjin happened to glance at him out of the corner of her eye, and said irritably: ”What are you smiling at?”

Huangfu Jingchen said: ”Wenjin, thank you for saving my life, I thought I was surely going to die, but didn’t expect to live, to open my eyes, to see this blue sky and white clouds, to...see you, it’s truly wonderful!”

Xia Wenjin poured cold water on him: ”To be precise, you’re not really alive now, you’re still clinging to that half-life. Let’s talk after you’re truly out of danger!”

Huangfu Jingchen looked at her earnestly, with a slight smile: ”You will surely help me out of danger, right?”

”Why would I? I’m no immortal!”

The aroma of grilled fish wafted out, truly tempting to the two famished individuals. Xia Wenjin squatted by the fire, focused on grilling the fish. The weather was hot, and being near the fire really wasn’t comfortable. However, to prevent the fish from turning to charcoal again, Xia Wenjin felt she could endure this bit of heat.

Xia Wenjin grilled the fish while Huangfu Jingchen watched her grill it.

Before long, the fish was done, Xia Wenjin took it off the rack, spread out the washed leaves, scraped the fish meat onto them with a dagger, removed the bones, and brought it to Huangfu Jingchen: ”Eat!”

Huangfu Jingchen glanced over at it, now only fish bones, head, and tail were left. He said: ”I can’t eat that much, you eat it first!”

”Eat when I tell you to eat, why so much talk?” Xia Wenjin glared at him, stuffing the leaf cup into his hand. His right hand was wrapped up like a rice dumpling, but his left hand was fine.

Huangfu Jingchen bitterly smiled, this time their meeting, Wenjin seemed much more temperamental, was she dissatisfied with him? She was originally heading to Liangzhou, and his injury had delayed her.

Slowly he said: ”Wenjin, if you like that Jade Pendant, just keep it! Consider it...consider it as medical expenses!”

Xia Wenjin harshly replied: ”I don’t like it!”

This guy kept looking at her longingly and was very accommodating, she was already trying to put on a sour face. Aren’t sons of noble families prideful and not used to seeing cold faces? Why wasn’t he?

Or was it because he was injured and knew he couldn’t offend her, so he was enduring it?

Xia Wenjin sighed inwardly, hopefully, it’s just that.

She had her morals and didn’t want to turn a perfectly good young man astray.

Huangfu Jingchen didn’t know what Xia Wenjin was thinking. From his perspective, since that meditation room at Shian Temple, where he explained everything, the quasi-sibling-friendly relationship with Xia Wenjin was broken. ℯ

Afterwards, they hadn’t had a proper conversation.

Xia Wenjin had not been alone with him again, until he woke up from this severe injury.

Xia Wenjin clearly cared for him; otherwise, the thick mattress of grass beneath him, the meat she fed him, his carefully bandaged wounds, her meticulous care... otherwise, how could he have woken?

Was he too hasty, scaring her and messing everything up?
