Lingering Doting Marriage: Big Boss, Little Sweet Heart

Chapter 2856: Chapter 2865: It Hurts, My Heart Hurts

Olivia Lewis was rarely controlled by him; Adam Sinclair would usually just let her be. Moreover, with age, this man’s demeanor had grown increasingly steady compared to the beginning. It was seldom she could see emotions other than confidence in his smile, let alone see him as disheveled and genuinely weary as he was now.

Olivia allowed him to help her fasten her shirt buttons and cover her with the blanket again. She blinked her eyes—though she didn’t speak, her heart felt warm, as if a wave of warmth was flowing through her.

Adam positioned her in the most comfortable posture, allowing her to sit up with support before he helplessly let go of her. The anger between his brows was replaced by worry, and his voice turned gentle, ”Does your shoulder hurt? Should I call the doctor to take another look?”

In truth, Olivia didn’t feel too much discomfort. The anesthetic had just worn off, and the area of her shoulder surgery hadn’t started to hurt. She wasn’t injured elsewhere, so it was alright.

But seeing Adam and Sunny so tense, treating her like a seriously injured mummy, Olivia’s heart still felt warm. She mischievously blinked and glanced her lips, ”It hurts.”

Adam’s expression immediately changed, as if he was about to call for a doctor.

The next second, his wrist was caught by Olivia on the hospital bed. Her voice still somewhat weak, her hoarse tone lazy like a cat’s, ”My heart hurts. You scared me when you were mad at me. Remember to find me Cardiology Department. Surgeons are of no use~”

Despite her words, her left hand didn’t let go but began tightly grasping the man’s hand.

She even playfully used her thumb to stroke the man’s palm.

From initial tension, Adam felt his whole body burning, his Peach Blossom Eyes suddenly darkened. Feeling both helpless and pained, he turned around, gripping her mischievous hand tightly, his voice made hoarse by Olivia’s teasing, ”Don’t scare me, I’m really frightened.”

Olivia, ”...”

”The sight of you covered in blood being rushed to the surgery is still crystal clear in my mind. So next time, use any other joke, but don’t joke about your health. I truly get worried...”

If back then, something terrible had happened to her, he’d probably even blame Baron and Enna.

Thankfully, she used her back to block the bullet.

The bullet didn’t hit a fatal area.

If the bullet had hit her heart, he wouldn’t even dare imagine what he’d be like.

Olivia saw that Adam and Sunny were both looking at her with serious expressions. To lighten the mood, she had made a joke, but she hadn’t expected Adam’s reaction to be so intense. As he spoke, she gradually lowered her eyelids, her lashes veiling her eyes’ emotions, for once obediently replying, ”Okay, I understand.”

Seeing her emotion suddenly drop, her oval face pale and weak, Adam Sinclair instantly regretted speaking to her like that.

He was about to apologize.

Unexpectedly, the person with lowered eyelids suddenly raised her head, looked at him, and earnestly said before him, ”I’m sorry, Adam.”

Sorry...

Adam was stunned, the words he meant to say already taken.

Olivia took a deep breath and continued, ”At that time, I didn’t think much. I noticed someone aiming a gun at Enna in the crowd, and instinctively dashed forward...”

Olivia’s lips curved into a smile, as if recalling something. Brightly, she said, ”But I believe if it were switched, Enna would have done the same for me.”
